I have been on Tylenol 3's x 3- 4 tablets a night to be able to sleep through the night without waking in pain. I have been on this for 3 years and worried about the long term effects on my kidneys I am diabetic type 2 with severe neuropathy in feet and hands and also I have a smashed elbow resulting in a plate with 20 screws and a rotary unit (?) which is scheduled for a 2nd surgery in 3 weeks. The pain is unbearable and my Dr has prescribed percocet . My daughter is concerned and says the Tylenol 3 's are better for me than the percocet. Is this true? I believe I am in this for a long long haul. ## The Tylenol 3 is milder than the Percocet, since it contains Codeine, rather than Oxycodone, but overall, the NIH lists the risks as being the same, as well as the side effects. The...

Can I take 2 mg of larazapam, at the same time as I take one acetaminophen-cod#4tab I take larazapam prescribed for sleep, but usually only take 1/2 tablet of larazapam Daniel, Astoria Oregon.... ## Hello, Daniel! How are you? They can be taken together, as long as your physician approves, but they both do increase sedation, so you may feel more drowsy and dizzy than normal. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause other side effects, such as headache, irritability and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Is 2 tylenol 4s equal to 1 norco?

How many tylenol 4 would equal 1 5/325 percocet please and ty I was told 2 tylenol 4 would equal 1and1/2 3/325 percocet ## Hello, Richord! How are you? Each 30mgs of Codeine in Tylenol 3 is equivalent to 3mgs of Oxycodone in Percocet, so no, that information was not correct. The U.S. FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Is a Tylenol 4, white round pill with 2065 v and 4 on other side, equal to a Percocet 10? Was just prescribed this from emergency room. But I have not taken it before. My doctor has me taking 4 Percocet 10's a day for back pain. Now have 2 healspurs and tendinitis and sprained ankle and in so much pain! Help please? ## Hello Marie! How are you? Codeine is actually weaker, so each one of the Tylenol 4 you take is only equivalent to about 6mgs of Oxycodone. The FDA classifies these medications as being narcotic analgesics. They carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Most ERs will not prescribe the more potent medications, such as Oxycodone, anymore. To get something stronger to help with more p...

how many tylenol 4 are equal to a 10MG 325 hydrocodone? ## You'd need about 66.67mgs of Codeine to be equivalent to each 10mgs of Hydrocodone, so that would be about a tablet and a half, give or take. However, due to the Acetaminophen that is also in Tylenol 4, you should not take more, unless your doctor has specifically instructed you to do so. Taking too much of it in any 24 hour period may cause overdose toxicity, which can be fatal. The FDA classifies these medications as narcotic analgesics, so they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Yes, why is Tylenol 4 a schedule 3 & Hydrocodone 10/200 a schedule 2? Please explain the logic as I'...

I've been taking 2 Norco 10s for years. I've just decided to try and switch to Tylenol 3s. For less Dr visits and refill purposes. How many equals what I've been used to because they don't seem to help and I'm not feeling so well? ## The Codeine in the Tylenol 3 is much milder than the Hydrocodone in the Norco. Each 10mgs of Hydrocodone is equivalent to 66.67mgs of Codeine, thus you can't safely take enough enough of them to be equivalent in efficacy, doing so risks a toxic overdose from the Acetaminophen that's in it. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. What dosing instructions has your doctor prov...

I have fibromyalgia and chronic back pain. My pain mgmt Dr took me off Percocet 5-325 and put me on Tylenol 4. Will I have better pain control now? ## In my opinion there are way too many variables within your question(s) for anyone to give an honest and helpful answer. Because we all react/respond differently, the only true way to find an accurate answer would be for you to go through trial & error and formulate your own opinion. Not only are we comparing doses here, but also the effects of binders/fillers (that some patients may have sensitivities to) altering absorption rates or bioavailability; Not to mention the Percocets contain varying percentages of their main active ingredient from manufacturer to manufacturer... (For example, on NIH.gov's website the Percocet [brand na...

How many Tylenol 3 can be taken to equal the strength of norco 7.5? ## Hello, Curious! How are you? You'd need 50mgs of Codeine to equal each 7.5mgs of Hydrocodone. However, you cannot double up, without your doctors approval, because you risk overdosing on the Acetaminophen in the Tylenol 3, which can be very dangerous. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

How many tylenol 3 with codeine do I have to take to make the same amount as 4 norcos 10/325? ## Hello, Kalife! How are you? It takes 66.67mgs of Codeine to be equal to each 10mgs of Hydrocodone. So roughly 2 Tylenol 3 for each Norco. However, the problem is that you can't double up that much due to the dangers of overdosing on the Acetaminophen in them, because that could be fatal. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Thus, you should only take it as prescribed by your doctor. Is there anything else I can help with?

While the Tylenol 3 has 30mg of codeine and the other has 10 mg of condone wouldn't the Tylenol 3 be stronger ## I have been taking Tylenol 3 for eight years, going 2 to 3 times a day to washroom, eat loads of fruit and fibre. I have to take T3 at least once a day a sometimes not at all Depending on my bowel movements. I only go into severe pain after the movement ...not before...then I desperately need to have the codiene which stops the severity of this pain.I only wish I could take the codine for it anf not the amephetameline with it (excuse spelling) ## Hello, Scott! How are you? There is no medication called Condone, did you mean 10mgs of Hydrocodone with 325mgs of Acetaminophen? If so, then no, it only takes 4.5mgs of Hydrocodone to equal the 30mgs of Codeine in the Tylenol 3....

Hello. I would like some help figuring this out. If I take 10/325 Norco, how many milligrams is it? 10? 100? 1000? ## To answer your question, 10/325 Norco contains 10 mg Hydrocodone (as well as 325 mg Acetaminophen, the active ingredient in Tylenol). I hope this helps and please write back if you have any other questions about this medication.

How many tylenol 3s equal a 10/325mg norco? ## Hello, Yoyo! How are you? Codeine is actually a very weak opiate, so it would take 66.67mgs of it to equal each 10mg Hydrocodone. But, you can't double up, without your doctor's permission, due to the Acetaminophen in them. Taking too much of it in any 24 hour period could result in fatal toxicity, liver damage or liver failure. The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Why would a doctor switch a person that's been on Hydrocodone-Apap 7.5/325mg to Tylenol 3?

my pain is too much to handle. the doctor cannot give me more than 30 tablets of hydrocodone/acetaminophen at a time. So I need to know how many Tylenol to take to help me. ## Hi Nikki, To my understanding, no amount of tylenol (acetaminophen) is equivalent to the effects of Hydrocodone, before experiencing what would be considered an overdose of acetaminophen - which can be extremely toxic to the liver. It sounds like your best bet would probably be to ask your doctor for a stronger pain medication (that you can take less of) or opt for a safer, more natural alternative that can be used as an adjunctive therapy to what you already take. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Hydrocodone Details I hope this helps!

Hello Iv had a torn Achilles in the past and other sports related injuries. I'm having rotator cuff surgery in a week and the doctor won't prescribe me the oxycodone 10's until the date of surgery. I'm in decent pain how many Tylenol 4's can I take at a single time to some what match the oxycodone 10's that helped before to try and get some relief thanks in advance ## Hi George, Converting pain meds is an iffy subject, because conversion charts are merely just a guide and results can vary greatly from one individual to another based on cross tolerance levels and several other underlying personal factors. However, just to give you a ball park figure, it has been speculated/rumored that 10mg of Oxycodone equates to about 90mg of Codeine. Tylenol #4 contains 300mgs ...

I know a person that took a higher than recommended dose of Tylenol and they said that it equals up to 1 Hydrocodone. ## Hi Ann - There is no real equivalent dose between Tylenol (ingredient name Acetaminophen) versus Hydrocodone. They are two completely different drugs, plus the Acetaminophen is not even an opiate medication like Hydrocodone is. In fact, taking too much Acetaminophen puts the body at great risk of liver damage! So I hope that your friend is okay! There are some drugs which contain a combination of Acetaminophen + Hydrocodone (such as Vicodin and Norco), but in those drugs they act together. So as I mentioned, it is never a good idea to try and take a therapeutic equivalent of Hydrocodone by using Acetaminophen. I hope this helps and best wishes!

I've been on Vicodin, Norco, and now Tylenol 3 for pain. I'm getting ready to have knee surgery and than back surgery. I'VE BEEN TAKING THESE PAIN PILLS SINCE MARCH 2014. How do I tell my dr. that the Tylenol 3 is not strong enough and I'm taking more than 2 a day. I ALSO HAVE HEP C+, WHAT SHOULD I be taking/ ## Hello, Cindy! How are you? The Codeine in these Tylenol formulations is actually a very weak opiate, you'd need 33.33mgs of it to equal each 5mgs of Hydrocodone in the Norco. The FDA lists these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Since you have Hep C, you likely should avoid the medications that contain Acetaminop...

Is tylenol 3 equal to tramadol 50 mg? I want to know the difference between the two pills and which one is more effective for pain? Thanks! ## Tylenol 3 contains Acetaminophen and Codeine, it is actually very mild, but the Tramadol is only moderately stronger. The NIH warns that both carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Which one works best for you?

How many Tylenol 4 would I have to take to equal 400 Mgs of tramadol? I'm trying to keep the withdrawals at bay. Please help. ## Look I'm not a doctor but i do have a lot of experience with pain meds as I have been on narcotics for chronic pain since 2008. Even though tramadol is considered on the lower epsilon of narcotics I have a hard time with nausea and constipation if i mix acetaminophen with hydrocodone or percocet. Just trust your doctor and discuss it with your pharmacist. Unfortunately doctors don't always know everything you are taking and your pharmacist does. Also trust what your body tells you. Personally i half my pills until I'm sure i can handle more i try to stick to that then when I'm sure I'm ok. I take the other half and drink plenty of fluid...

Switched pain doctors and went from Tylenol-4 four times a day to Norco 5/325 four times a day. Will the level of pain relief be the same, less or more? ## It really depends on how it works for you. Have you tried it, yet? According to NIH conversion tablets, you'd need 9mgs of Hydrocodone (Norco) to be equal to each Tylenol 4 you were taking. The FDA warns that this medications carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. ## FDA wants to prescribe the more expensive ones. Oxytocin is still legal, yet, those haven't been taken from the shelves, and that is what kids mostly, were addicted to. It's awful that we have to suffer, for what kids done. Was given RX Hydrocod/acetaminophen 7.5-325/15ML every 4-6hrs. Can you also use liquid tylenol 500 mg over the counter together, alternating? ## You should not combine OTC tylenol with any prescription meds that also contain tylenol.
