Tramadol Expired

I have been prescribed tramadol 50 mg and hydrocodone 5-325 for migraines. Tramadol is always my first go to and if that doesn't work then I try the hydro. However, the tramadol is expired and has been for a year (I am in college and dealt with moving etc so don't have a doctor at the moment to get a new prescription that is unexpired.) I am literally having one of the worst migraines of my life which its so bad that the pain woke me up even after taking an (expired) tramadol. I took the expired tramadol at 10pm and it is now 2 am. Would it be okay for me to now take a hydrocodone after 4 hours (usually I wait 6 but I believe the tramadol did not work because it's expired?) I've got 100x 50mg Tramadol capsules in foil blister packs, with an expiry date of Dec 2007. I was prescribed them years back for extremely painful broken bones in my foot. Last year I was knocked of my motorcycle and got a number of injuries that I'm still struggling with. For a few months I was prescribed 60mg Codeine, but now I'm just on 1200mg ibuprofen and 4000mg paracetamol daily, but it's nowhere near as effective as the codeine was. Doc won't prescribe codeine again as it's addictive .....so, here I am, in constant pain and I've found my old unused box of tramadol. August 17, 2015 expiration. Okay to take? ## This medication does not become dangerous, once expired, but it does start to lose efficacy. The best thing to do would be to dispose of it and obtain a new supply. The FDA classifies this medication as an opioid, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I am dealing with an infection from a spider bite on my right jaw.My molars and gums that line up with my jaw are so painful. I am taking some expired Hydrocodone that my mom had. It is almost 2 years old.Now,after reading this,know why it has not helped me.I have a prescription for Tramadol 50 mg. It seems to work better... I also am taking Amoxiciln . 500mg. Why not just take the Tramadol that you've been prescribed?
