I have reads that a person who was on Tramadol for 8 or 10 years and as a result, had to take 8 of the 50 mg tablets of Tramadol daily to get results. His Dr. decided to give him a derivative of the drug for a few months to help irradiate the tolerance that had developed from taking the Tramadol for so long. After using the new drug for 6 months or a year. ( Cant remember the details. the article was a few years back) or a year, he switched back to the Tramadol and needed only 200 mg Daily. I can't seem to find any more info on this any more but would be interested in cleaning out and starting anew with the Tramadol. ## Hello, John! How are you? This is known to work for some people and some doctors do recommend 'med vacations' to help something retain or regain efficacy. Th...

on oramorph 10mg 4 times a day and tramadol 100mg 4 times a day still in pain are they cancelling each other out ## No, I was othe same recently and they will be augmenting each other not cancelli out. If you are still in pain, speak to your doctor about upping your morphine (you've already maxed the tramadol there) I'm on 30mg plus 100mg tramadol which is controlling my pain much better. ## How long have you been taking them? As George said, they shouldn't be canceling each other out, but it may be time for a dosage adjustment. There's also the possibility that one, or both just aren't the right medications to help you and you may need to try different ones. There is also an extended release Tramadol that is available in 200 and 300mg doses. ## If a may suggest perh...

I am a 20 year chronic pain sufferer who every 3 years or so has to detox off 180-240 mg Oxycodone to lower tolerance. Then I start back on 4-6 Percocet a day and gradually increase dosage as needed. I have just completed one of these detoxes using the "Thomas Recipe" - Now, to control the pain again...a friend gave me a few 37.5 mg Tramadol and at the moment I take 2 at a time so 75 mg once a day and find that they elevate my mood quite effectively as well as kill the pain...So I want to know which drug is worse for your liver and brain cells...Tramadol or Percocet? ## As a medical provider my first question to you , would be are you being followed by a pain management doctor. Secondly with the level of Percocet you are taking I would say you have a serious problem . Then do de...

How many Tylenol 4 would I have to take to equal 400 Mgs of tramadol? I'm trying to keep the withdrawals at bay. Please help. ## Look I'm not a doctor but i do have a lot of experience with pain meds as I have been on narcotics for chronic pain since 2008. Even though tramadol is considered on the lower epsilon of narcotics I have a hard time with nausea and constipation if i mix acetaminophen with hydrocodone or percocet. Just trust your doctor and discuss it with your pharmacist. Unfortunately doctors don't always know everything you are taking and your pharmacist does. Also trust what your body tells you. Personally i half my pills until I'm sure i can handle more i try to stick to that then when I'm sure I'm ok. I take the other half and drink plenty of fluid...

I pulled a muscle in my lower back and am in a lot of pain but am unemployed at the moment and can't afford to see a doctor and fill a new prescription. I found an old bottle of Tramadol HCL 50 MG with an expiration date of 3/22/2007. It has been stored in a cool, dark, dry cabinet all of this time. Does Tramadol HCL become unsafe or lose its potency after its expiration date, especially this long after? ## Unsafe: No. Loss of potency: Yes (to a degree)! In the original factory sealed bottles that your pharmacy receives, most medications are touted to only be good for 3 years. Once those are opened and they are placed in a bottle that exposed them to heat and light, they're subject to degrade faster and will lose potency. On the contrary however, something to keep in mind is tha...

I was prescribed Tramadol / acet 37.5 / 325 mg for a pulled muscle I was told take 1 or 2 pills every four hours if needed. The first time I took half a pill only . I do have a sensitive system but not so sensitive that what occur after taking just that half of one pill happened. Within 20 min the pain went away completely I was very tired to the point I needed to lay down within minutes afterwards , I start to halucinate I didn't even fall asleep yet. I remember thinking ( Oh my god ) what is happening I heard of hallucinations but never experienced it myself. I kept telling myself ( go to sleep) eventually it will wear off , on and off I slept through the night , each time I woke up the hallucinations where there. Finally once morning had arrived, the hallucinations were gone. I c...

Has anyone been on tramadol and then started on cymbalta too? I take 150 mg tramadol for a frozen shoulder am have been off Vicodin for a year due to its addictive properties. My Dr. added cymbalta due to increasing joint pain and ongoing depression with horrible morning depression. Just stopped taking 20 mg Lexapro. What have people noticed about combing these 2 meds? I want to function better but not develop serotonin syndrome. ## Hello, Mayvar! How are you? What dosage did he prescribe of the Cymbalta? That's the important factor regarding serotonin syndrome. Your dose needs to be carefully adjusted and your doctor should be monitoring you regularly so any symptoms can be caught early. ## It was the lowest dose of cymbalta, and I take 150 mg go tramadol. I took them both for two ...

RAN OUT OF HYDROCOAPAP TAB 10-325MG, BUT HAVE TRAMADOL 50 MG, CAN I SUBSTITUTE?? ## Have you consulted your doctor? The Hydrocodone is a potent narcotic and the Tramadol is very mild, though it is distantly related, so you aren't likely to get the same effective pain relief that you do from the Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen tablet. ## If you are worried about your withdrawls, then yes you can. The max dose in 24 hours is 400mg. That's 8 pills. I did the same thing and took 200mg in the morning and 150 at night just to be safe. It will hold back the withdrawls and you will sleep comfortably. However, because its not an opiate, they will not "F" you up. You will not get HIGH from these. They do however trap seratonin for longer periods of time in your brain which for most peop...

I take 3mg of warfarin and 4 mg on 3 days also I have started tramadol 100mg twice daily. Will the tramadol cause a problem with taking warfarin too? I also take slow release 5 HTP 200 g daily. I have fibromyalgia and depression and feel better whilst on tramadol not sure about 5HTP. Would be grateful of your opinion. Thank you. ## Hello, Goldie! How are you? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed, but it;s always best to double check such information to be sure. The FDA classifies Tramadol as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Warfarin is a blood thinner and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding...

I have taken Tramadol, manufactured by Apotex, for the past nine months. Together, my neurostimlator and 200 mg. of Tramadol per day helped me to be virtually pain free! I renewed my Tramadol prescription last week and the new prescription says Tramadol, but this time the manufacturer is TEVA. This time, I continue to have pain and it is now the second week, and I am feeling intense pain. It is as if I was not taking any pain medication at all (my stimulator continues to work, but no one is ever promised that a neurostimulator will rid anyone of all pain. I have a friend who was switched to Tramadol from Apotex Manufacturing (the exact one I had for nine months) and is now taking Tramadol manufactured by TEVA. She is finding the same problem; it will not rid her of the pain she suffers....

Hearing lots of places that the people who order tramadol via internet will no longer be able to. I live in a town with uptight doctors who charge outrageous prices plus insist on doing constant testing before writing a prescription. If true what are my option after Aug 18 ## i wish i had an answer for you, i have been using it for 3 years, more as a anti-depressant. I take 200 mg a day and feel good, certainly not intoxicated. This decision by FDA is ridiculous. Tramadol is not in the same class as Percs and Roxys etc. Unbelievable. I can go to Dr but i will be spending mad $ on their BS. Prices in the international market will now be inflated as well. The market is risky unless you know credible sources. ## Tramadol will become a Controlled Substancde Schedule IV in Aug. But, Schedule...

is 50mg tramadol as effective as 10mg methadone ## best tramadol ## @mark, According to a double-blind clinical trial, Tramadol was reported to be more efficacious in managing the symptoms of opioid withdrawal (and with fewer side effects) than Methadone. This study is based on a 450 mg/day dose of Tramadol in comparison to a 15mg/day dose of Methadone. So if you ask me, my thoughts are that 50mgs of Tramadol wouldn't have results that are as significant as what was displayed in the clinical trials, since that would only amount to 200-300mgs a day (when taken every 4-6 hours) as opposed to 450mg/day. Results will probably also depend on each individuals tolerance to pain meds as well as body chemistry and several other underlying factors. I'd encourage you to talk with your doct...

Ive been battling the monster methadone for about 3 years now and I'm sick of it. I tapered down to 20mg a day and ran out. After trying elimodrol and withdrawal ease supplements and feeling OK for the first 2 days, I thought cool I will be OK. Hell no, day three my body told me that stuff ain't doing anything. I had a bottle of tramadol so I took about 250 mg and after 30 min I noticed I was sitting still and not wanting to jump out of my skin. WOW. So now I've been doing the same for 4 days and still alright. Is it too good to be true? Am I just trading one for the other or can it really help? I am sole provider of my wife and two young kids, so missing alot of work to go detox is out of the question. And cold turkey I can't handle right now. Anyone been here before?, ...

Getting back to tramadol and suboxone... I was put on tramadol hcl 50mg by my primary doctor. He started me out with 3 tramadol daily, now he dropped it to 2 a day. My question is, he said it was safe to take w/ my suboxone (i've been on sub about 15 years for opiate addiction), and he said Tramadol is the only pain med that you can take (strong enough to give my lower back some relief) and safe to take w/ the suboxone. But i think I'm now dependent on the tram, i get the sweats, body aches, all the same withdrawal as w/ opiates, and i still take my suboxone which don't seem to bother me. But know i take anywhere from 15 to 20 tramadols per day, I'm supposed to take 3 suboxone per day, but i'm only taking 1. Please help, i have a lower back injury and my doctor who l...

Is it ok to take 20 mg of oxy for breakthrough pain while on a daily regimen of tramadol? ## Have they both been prescribed for you? Doubling up on opiates can cause more sedation than usual, which could be too much for some people and may result in overdose, as reported by the FDA. These medications also carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects that may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I want to start by saying I received a liver transplant in Jan. Of 2008. My liver disease was due to fatty liver disease which led into cirrhosis of the liver and was not alcohol or drug related. Well after transplant and some time out and doing very well the nerve endings that were cut during transplant started to grow back and I honestly have never endured a pain like that and after several discussions with my doctors they prescribed TramadolHcl 50 mg tablets at a dosage rate of 2 pills every 6-8 hours. My family doctor felt this was the safest route since it was not a narcotic drug. To make a long story short I am deeply concern as it seems now this drug has become addicting and I am very worried and do not want to destroy my new liver and my second chance at LIFE that I was given. I...
