Hi there, My Boyfriend was prescribed Topzole for 2 weeks for his bad heart burn and heavy acid reflux. He is worried however after reading on the internet that bad side effects it may have lasting up to a few months EG: hair loss? is this a possibility? Is this the best route to go? He wants to stop taking it after only a day. I am worried however that stopping it ma not be the best solution as he has only had the Nausea thus far. ## Hello, Kerry! How are you? No, if he experiences any of the side effects, they shouldn't last longer than a week or so, after finishing it. He may also experience dizziness, flatulence and stomach pain. For acid reflux I was administered with Topzole today. Some 9hours later I started itching under the armpits. A few years ago I had a similar reaction after taking some medication - however I do not recall what I took. It was so severe that I was given cortisone. Does Topzole have this effect on individuals? In the previous instance I came out in little bumps. So far TG no bumps just unpleasant itching. I have taken celestamine to combat the itch. Could it be Topzole? ## Hello, Susie! How are you? There's always a chance that any medication could cause an allergic reaction, so yes, it could be from the Topzole. Although it is very unusual to have it occur only under the arms, normally an allergic reaction from taking something orally would encompass your whole body. Have you consult...

I have been prescribed Topzole 40 for a suspected ulcer, it helped for the first week but three weeks in I am suffering with terrible reflux again. Yes, when you have an ulcer and a problem with reflux, it's usually best to refrain from alcohol and coffee for several months, to allow healing to occur. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and flatulence. Are you also watching what you eat to stay away from spicy and/or acidic foods? They can also contribute to the problem. It's also just possible that this medication d...

I was diagnosed In February this year with a haemorrhaging stomach ulcer. Biopsies showed no H-Pylori and no cancer but some baterial activity. I have no typical ulcer symtoms no pain and no acid reflux. I have been treated with anti-biotics and flagil plus a blood transfusion in February and again in June on account of red blood cell count being below 7. I have also been on Topzole since February and the dose of Topzole has been doubled since June. Since I do not suffer from acid reflux is Topzole the correct drug for me? Hi, can I ask, is it safe to drink alcohol while using topzole? Especially right after taking topzole or anytime during the day for that matter? ## It is never a good idea to drink alcohol, while taking any prescription medication. Additionally, if you're taking an acid controlling medication, such as this one, the FDA warns that alcohol could worsen the condition being treated and may cause worse heart burn, GERD or gastritis. I have been using Ferrimed for a long time, but my iron and blood deficiency became worse. I am always very tired, sleepy and listless. A specialist physician said I most probably have bleeding ulcers due to too much stomach acid. I repeatedly told him that I have NEVER had heart burn or acid reflux my whole life. I did not feel any pain whatsoever when he examined my stomach, etc. He admitted me to the hospital, where his rooms are, to have upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopies. I gave thát doctor, beforehand, the same information that I gave the physician. Again I felt no pain when he examined my stomach, etc. Afterwards the procedures, he told my that I have bleeding ulcers. I never saw any "pictures" of the ulcers, and when I asked the rooms of both doctors, they...

Hi there. I just want to know if it's safe to take topzole 40 with (statin) storwin 10mg and ecotrin as well as puricos 300mg (for gout)? I have been feeling much weakness from my hips to my legs as well as dizziness. I am 43 years old. ## Have they all been prescribed for you? Puricos contains Allopurinol, it is most commonly used to treat gout and kidney stones, Topzole contains Pantoprazole and it is used to help reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach, Ecotrin contains Aspirin and is frequently used to heart health and blood thinning, Storwin contains Rosuvastatin and is used to help lower cholesterol. I purchase Topzole p40 . Is there a generic which I can purchase over the counter, " pharmacy " everytime I need to get a prescription ? ## TopZole contains the active ingredient Pantoprazole, which is a "prescription-only" medication here in the US; used to treat erosive esophagitis and other conditions involving excess stomach acid. A family member of mine takes Prilosec (Omeprazole) - which is regarded as an over the counter alternative for these same types of conditions. I'd imagine though, that it may or may not be quite as efficient compared to its prescription counterpart, but certainly worth a try if you need something for excess stomach acid. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Omeprazole Details I hope this helps!

Good afternoon I have started with Topzole and must admit it is the best I have tried for heartburn. Just would like to know is it habit forming/how long can I use it/must I have in between breaks. Tx ## Hello, Estelle! How are you? Topzole contains the active ingredient Pantoprazole, which is a proton pump inhibitor that helps reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach. Learn more Topzole details here. Side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness and stomach pain. No, it is not known to be habit forming and if you are taking it over the counter, rather than by doctor's prescription, it should only be taken for a period of 2 weeks. Prolonged use increases the risk of hip fractures. Have you consulted your doctor?
