Cough substitute for tanna. presscripion date 2.2 2009. can I take it today for a cough or should I throw it out ? ## Hi molly, There's actually a lot of conflicting information around the topic of expired medication, but according to a Harvard Medical School family health article, except in rare cases (i.e. tetracycline), there is little chance of danger due to taking medications even up to 15 years beyond their expiration date. This conclusion was based upon a study conducted at the request of the US military due to stockpiles of expensive drugs they could otherwise need to replace every few years. The conclusion was that 90% of those drugs remained effective 10 - 15 years after the expiration date. I don't know if the drug you have happens to be one of these drugs from the st...

Is the formula for Lee's Save the Baby (liquid in the glass bottle NOT the rub on salve) patent protected, does anyone know how to obtain the formula ## It was made by the Lee's company and yes, it is patent protected. The reason it is no longer available is that it contained Camphor, yes, even in the liquid that was taken internally and the FDA has recognized this as being unsafe. Camphor is now only approved to be used topically. As to the other ingredients, I am sorry, I have been unable to discover that. Does anyone else know? ## We used Save the Baby in the 1970s and got it in Maine. It was made by a family in New York in the late 1800s. It contained Canadian Balsam and was suspended in a lard base. I am currently taking tramadol for lower back pain and its no different then taking tylenol. My neighbor gets oxycodone for her pain and she gave me one to take so I could be comfortable. It worked way better. I actually got off the couch and got a lot more accomplished. How can I convince my doctor to change my medicine without having to say that I had to take someone else's medication? Thanks for any advice. ## Hi Jessica, It's funny you mention that tramadol had similar effects as tylenol since others on here have also complained about the nonexistent effects of this medication. If you're to discuss this topic with your doctor in hopes of changing meds, I would suggest letting him know first that tramadol just isn't cutting it for you. If he legitimately gets the sens...

Back in the hospital and the doctors are having a hard time finding an IV medication that will help lessen the chest pain from my pneumonia. I wear Fentanyl 75 mcg (changed every 72 hrs). Im taking Diovan HCT 160/12.5 for my blood pressure but it is still little high.I have a second medicine I used to take Labetalol HCL 200mg.Is it ok to take them both? ## Okay first, what numbers do you consider a little high? You have to understand what when someone has high blood pressure, the basic goal is usually 135/85 or right around there, because in many cases it isn't practical to try to get them to 120/80 or lower. You also need to be watching what you eat, such as keeping your sodium as low as possible and not overdoing your fluid intake, to help lower it. On top of that you also need to be getting regular exercise. Learn more hypertension details here. Other factors that come into play would be the time of day you are checking it, because it is normal for some fluctuatio...

discuss the topic; all medicine contains drug but not all drugs contain medicine ## In respect to this, it really all depends on what you consider a drug and what you consider a medicine. I am guessing your lack of responses may be due to the fact that most people use them interchangeably, to mean the same thing. The U.S. FDA has made a distinction for items that they consider drugs, because of the effects they have on the human body, but do not find to have any valid medical use. However, over time, even many of those have found some type of medical use. Such as the THC in marijuana, it is now purified and used to help with the nausea and vomiting that many cancer patients experience after Chemotherapy treatments, it can also help stimulate their appetite. It is available in a pill cal...

Is topraz 10mg a best sallution for astma and waht is the side effects ## Topraz (montelukast) is most commonly used to prevent wheezing, difficulty breathing, chest tightness, and coughing caused by asthma. It works by blocking the action of substances in the body that cause the symptoms of asthma. It honestly sounds like a good viable option for asthma, however, there's really no way of knowing how effective it will be until you actually try it. This is because these types of medication can and usually do effect each individual differently. Montelukast may cause the following side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: headache dizziness heartburn stomach pain tiredness Some side effects can be serious. If you experience any of the followi...
