I've got my tooth extracted last June 20,2015 yet there is still a part left with my tooth and my dentist told me to continue taking amoxicillin until our next session. I'm also taking mefenamic acid, yet I don't know until when I should be taking this. Is it okay if I stop taking mefenamic? Thanks

I got one shot of Prolia in late December 2022. In February I developed a tooth infection and fracture below the gum line. It needs to be extracted. No one seems to know anything about this. I am so worried about jaw necrosis. Oncologist who gave me the drug said wait at least 3 months, my former oncologist said 2 months. Everything I've read online says to wait the 6 months. But I have an infection and I'm concerned about how that may affect my heart and my dental health. Has anyone had a tooth extracted after one shot of Prolia? ## I’ve been having those shots since 2017 and so far had no problems. You’re letter scared me. Sorry to hear about your pain. ## Regardless of whether or not you can have the tooth removed, yet, you can still treat the infection via antibi...

Hello, i had an exposed wisdom tooth extracted, bottom right, 11 days ago. Tooth did not come out easily and had to be cut in half. 3 days later I went back to dentist with pain due to sharp fragment protruding from gum into mouth and scratching side of tongue. Dentist found fragment to be sharp bone, still attached, so drilled it back. 6 days later I went back, as bone was still scratching tongue. This time he cut gum so could drill larger area flat then stitched up wound. My confusion is around how a bone "bends" into a sharp point? Is this possible? ## Hello, Liv! How are you doing? Has there been any change? It really isn't that is bends into a sharp point, according to NIH listings. It is actually that the extraction itself causes small sharp fragments of the bone to sp...

How are you doing? If you had a tooth pulled, that socket is going to be open and sore for awhile. It takes awhile for it to heal up and stop being tender. However, if you've got a severe ache, ...

I had a tooth taking out and then dry socket and now a terrible infection around the next tooth. Pain into my ear and throat. I was on Amoxicillin for over 2 weeks and it is not doing anything. My question is there another Antibiotic out there that would help me better then the Amoxicillin. ?? I was thinking of Keflex maybe ?? The hole from the extracted tooth has not healed at all. ## Keflex is an excellent antibiotic but it's been around a long time.there are much better options from newer more specified antibiotics for your infection type. contact the dentist or oral surgeon that performed the procedure before you develop a cascading periodontal syndrome ASAP. Best of luck. ## Hello, Peggy! How are you doing? Has there been any change? Did your dentist confirm that you had a dry ...

Hi. Has anyone on Xarelto had multiple tooth extractions? If so, did you have to stop the medication for a while? And how did you find the bleeding? Thanks for any replies. ## It can result in increased risk of bleeding, according to NIH studies. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, and easy bruising. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have had seven teeth extracted a week ago. I am on amoxicillin 500 3 times a day as I have an infection and in terrible pain! I have been on them for 3 days, almost 4. How long until the infection clears and the pain stops? Also is corsodyl mouth wash good for healing of the gums after extractions? Thanks. ## Hello, Bexy! How are you? You should be starting to see improvement of the infection by now, it usually only takes about 3 days of taking the antibiotic. Thus, if there's been no change and you're still in pain, please return to your doctor, you may need to try a different antibiotic. The FDA lists the typical side effects of antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. I wouldn't suggest using a mouthwash, unless...

How long should I wait to take my sub after having teeth pulled I'm due to take it now and am a little nervous it will be painful if that chemical sits on an open wound. Anyone else had an experience like this please share ASAP! ## Hello, Nate! How are you? I'm wondering if covering the socket with a cotton ball, or peace of gauze may help, you may want to ask your doctor or dentist about it. When I had extractions done, I'd usually use a small piece of gauze over the wound to keep debris out. The FDA classifies Suboxone as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Does anyone else know?

i have an infection on tooth extraction site prescribed clavemel forte 500 3 times a day for 5 days how long will it take for infection clear please. ## Hi Annabel, The infection should be gone close to or by the time you run out of the Clavamel forte (Amoxicillin + Clavulanic Acid). If the infection is still there after the 5 days of antibiotics, you'll want to speak with your doctor. In addition, I have heard that vanilla extract works well for tooth infections as well as clove essential oil. I have personally used both of those oils for an area on my gum that became swollen and it healed the area in a couple days. Those oils also helped to numb the pain I was experiencing, so it may do the same for you as well. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Amoxicillin + Clav...

I went to the dentist for an extraction and he extracted a tooth at 3.30pm. And now the pain is so bad at 11.30pm. I want to know if tramadol will relieve some of the severe pain ? ## ya..offcource it will give relief .No problem you may take this. But in such condition Ibuprofen is choice of drug . ## No, Dr.......ibuprofen is not the choice of drug....not after any kind of surgery. Too much of a bleeding risk. It's ok, in THIS case to take it after 3-5 days but, personally, I would take the TRAMADOL. My oral surgeon always prescribed hydro or oxycodone for the pain......NO NSAID's. ## Can I Take 50 mg or 100 mg of Tramadol for pain from a tooth extraction? 0r IBprofen? ## Tramadol can be taken, as long as it has been prescribed for you. I need to have my rear tooth extracted and I am on metoprolol succinate and Losartan potassium and clopidogrel for cardiac therapy, so should I stop taking for a few days to allow dental extraction ? ## Hello, Husbur! How are you? No, please don't stop any of these medications, unless your doctor says that it's okay for you to do. Doing so could result in dangerous rebound effects that could cause greatly elevated heart rate and blood pressure. And the only one that you may need to stop temporarily would be the Clopidogrel, since it helps prevent clotting. Learn more Clopidogrel details here. Have you discussed it with your doctor, yet?

Is this drug effective for tooth ache ## Tramadol is a centrally acting analgesic that can help with mild to moderate pain, so it may give some pain relief. However, if the tooth ache has been caused by an infection, it isn't going to do anything to clear that up, nor will it help with any possible swelling that may be involved. Have you consulted a dentist? ## I have sensitive teeth and so fed up of tooth extraction. Are there any suggestions apart from the canal procedure? ## I just had a root canal, I'm on penicillin for the infection which is why I had the RC, the doctor gave me Tylenol three And after taking two no help with pain. I have tramadol 50mg, would this be a better pill to take? ## Use Sensodyne toothpaste on a regular basis even if you're also using a teeth w...

What causes a tooth to get an abscess? ## Hello, Cookie61! How are you? A dental abscess is caused by a bacterial infection, which has usually developed due to bacteria getting into the root of the tooth from a deep dental cary, or other exposure of the roots. In most cases, it must be treated with an antibiotic, then the underlying cause rectified, by the performance of a root canal and filling of the tooth with a cap, or a full extraction. Treating of the pain, or just taking an antibiotic will not solve the problem and is something I always try to warn people about. If you don't see a dentist to have the underlying issue correct, the infection will keep returning. Signs of an abscess, according to the NIH, may possibly include swelling, puss, pain and sensitivity to heat and cold...

Well half of my bottom tooth on the left side in the back has broken off and the other half is still there and it is soooooo killing me. ## Um....I think you need to go to the dentist get it fixed. ## A round, white tablet with the marking E 22 contains 100mgs of Orphenadrine, which is a muscle relaxant, so it won't help with dental pain. NDC 00185-0022 Thus, I have to agree with Janice, you need to see a dentist to have this fixed, if you are in that much pain, it is most likely due to an infection, which will require a round of antibiotics to treat, then the repair or extraction of the tooth. Alternatively, you could have an exposed nerve, which will also require proper treatment How long ago did it break off?

I have had a severe tooth ache for the last 2 days and now I am afraid I have an infection in the root of my tooth. Last year when I saw my dentist he said I do need a root canal done. Can Amox Tr K Clv help with the pain and the infection ## Hello, Lou! How are you? This is an antibiotic, so it will only help with bacterial infections, it does nothing to treat pain. It may also cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. If you've not had the root canal done, yet, then this its most likely a deep dental infection and it is going to require treatment, most likely an extraction. If you don't have it taken care of, then the infection will just keep returning. Is there anything else I can help with? ## No, thank you so much for your answer to...

I had six teeth out last wk and was given 20 Tylenol for pain and they are gone..do you think i should ask for a few more as it is still hurts especially where the stitches are. I was one amoxicillin 500 4 time s a day before they were pulled but then still hurt Thanks ## Hello, Nanc! How are you? It is normal for the sockets to remain sore for awhile, after extractions. Whether or not you ask for more pain medications is up to you. How severe is it? The FDA classifies Tylenol 3 as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

I had puss leaking from the gums but the dentist did not drain it. He just extracted my bottom row wisdom tooth and gave me Amoxicillin 500 MG 4x. The tooth extraction was about $541, does that sound to high for one tooth? I used all the drug and it seemed to help but I relapsed. My inner cheeks are swollen and it seems to be slightly swollen along my jawline. I had that before taking any prescription so it's not an allergic reaction. Also around my mouth feels a little swollen. What should I do next? The second time I went to the Dentist he didn't prescribe me anything and said the swelling was okay. He never mentioned my inner cheek swelling even though you can't miss it. Should I try another dose of Amoxicillin or something else or maybe 2 antibiotics? I'm on the verg...

I had a tooth extraction yesterday, been taking I Norco 7.5-325 regularly since; took one pill an hour ago and the pain is still unbearable, can I take one more or even half a pill more? ## Hi Ryan, Generally with this type of drug the dosing instructions indicate that you should take 1 pill every 4-6 hours or so. I could be wrong, but I think this is mainly due to the concerns associated with Acetaminophen and liver toxicity. From my own personal experience, it should be fine to take a half a pill more, as they do make a stronger norco with 10mgs of Hydrocodone and 500mgs of Acetaminophen. So it would be as if you're taking the stronger version of the drug. Learn More: Acetaminophen + Hydrocodone I hope this helps! ## Actually, if the pain is still that bad, after having had the to...
