Hi, i got tonsillitis so im on calvepen 666mg tablets. Is it ok to use them if i have a thyroid disorder? ## Hello, Remis! How are you? This is an antibiotic that is used to eradicate infectious bacteria, so yes, you can take it, as long as you aren't allergic to it and your doctor has instructed you to do so. As a matter of fact, you would be in far more danger, if you let an infection continue out of control, because that could be life threatening, so taking it would be the better option. The U.S. FDA lists its side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I suffered from a throat infection like tonsillitis for the last 5 days. So can i take chymoral forte? I took other medicine but it was not effective. ## What other medication did you try? Chymoral Forte can help with swelling, but it will not do anything to treat the bacterial infection that usually causes tonsillitis. That usually requires an antibiotic, according to the NIH, and they list the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea.

Is there any chance for reoccurring tonsillitis? ## As detailed in NIH reports, tonsilitis is an inflammation of the tonsils, which may be due to an infection, virus, or other unknown irritant. How long it takes to clear up depends on what has caused it, as well as what treatment has been prescribed and yes, there is a chance of recurrence, which is why they are often remove surgically to prevent future problems. What treatment did you doctor recommend?

Streptococcus is a bactiria and bactrim is used to kill bactiria. ## Bactrim CAN be prescribed for Tonsillitis, also for Urinary Tract Infection, Otitis Media(Ear Infection) ie. bacterial conditions, but if your Tonsilitis is recurrent (3 or 4 times a year), you might consider seeing a OTOLAYRINCOLOGIST (Ear, nose, eye specialist). ## i belive i have tosillitis, swallon tonsils covered with puss pockets and sore throat painful to swallow,i have some ceftin will that help treat the tosillitis ## In referen...

Hey, I am having a horrible bout of tonsillitis with bad ear and throat pain. My doctor initially prescribed amoxicillin 3 days ago but pain still persisted, I went back today and got 50mg prednisone daily for 5 days plus a 10 day course of cephalexin. Is 50mg too much over a 5 day period. With previous bouts I was prescribed 10 mg twice daily for 2-4 days with no side effects. I took my first dose after filling the prescription at around 2 PM and am feeling mild discomfort in my muscles and can't seem to sleep. Is this dose to heavy? Thoughts? ## Hi Kelly, Based on my research, some of the side effects of this medication include: insomnia, sever joint pain, leg pain/cramping, and more...

Good day, I have tonsillitis and the Dr prescribed Purmycin. In 2015 I had same and was given Betamox 500 and Betaclav 1000 by a different Dr. How effective are these Purmycin tablets as it feels like I'm getting worse. There's even a white layer showing on this infected area. I also just took the betaclav and betamox but realized now that they expired in June 2016- what will happen? ## Purmycin is an antibiotic that is used to treat various types of bacterial infections. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin, and diarrhea. The others do not become dangerous, once expired, but they do lost some efficacy, so they may not work as well as they did, when new. Has there been any change, or improvement, yet? ## Only...

I have received 300mg clindamycin for exudative tonsillitis. I was told to take 4 a day for 10 days. I am on day 2 and have yet to feel any less pain. My throat is very inflamed and my voice is gone. How long does it take for the pain to start going down? ## Hello, Syd! How are you feeling? Has there been any change, yet? The general rule for antibiotics is that if they are working, you shouldn't see any worsening of your condition after taking them for a full 24 hours and you should start to see improvement after taking them for a full 3 days. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea.

My son is 11 and weighs 37.8 kilos. 6 days ago he had 39.8 temps and was diagnosed with tonsillitis. The doctor prescribed amoxil 250mg / 5ml @ 10ml / 3 times a day with a repeat.... This would see him on the antibiotic for roughly 6 to 7 days... I've since been to my regular doctor and she said 'amoxil' would not have been her 1st choice for this condition but that there was no point changing it now as he'd already been on them for a couple of days. She also said I could stop them after 5 days as this would be a sufficient dose. However we are always told to finish the full course of antibiotics generally, standard procedure when taking antibiotics. Is this really ok to stop them after 5 days (before all the contents in the bottle are finished)? I only ask because in th...

Hi I have white spots in my tonsils and my throat feels cut up. I know it's tonsillitis that I have and therefore was going to ring doctors to get a prescription but my mum have me a full packet of Amoxicillin. I can't see an expiry date on packet but it does say on pharmacy sticker "ChkBy 27/06/16". Do you know what this stands for please? And should they still be ok to take?? ## "Check by" that date (Chkby) 06/27/2016. Take to pharmacy. Never good to use old antibiotics and self diagnose. A quick swab of the throat gives an answer and allows you to get the right med by a doctor. Could be a virus. ## All that means if it's an old bottle of Amoxicilin that if it wasn't taken by the chk by/expiring date back this past June obviously then u cld still take i...
