Hi, i got tonsillitis so im on calvepen 666mg tablets. Is it ok to use them if i have a thyroid disorder? ## Hello, Remis! How are you? This is an antibiotic that is used to eradicate infectious bacteria, so yes, you can take it, as long as you aren't allergic to it and your doctor has instructed you to do so. As a matter of fact, you would be in far more danger, if you let an infection continue out of control, because that could be life threatening, so taking it would be the better option. The U.S. FDA lists its side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I suffered from a throat infection like tonsillitis for the last 5 days. So can i take chymoral forte? I took other medicine but it was not effective. ## What other medication did you try? Chymoral Forte can help with swelling, but it will not do anything to treat the bacterial infection that usually causes tonsillitis. That usually requires an antibiotic, according to the NIH, and they list the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea.

hi had tosilular abcess for 3 weeks, admitted to hospital and had calvepen 666 through i.v. Abcess was lanced and i was released home with calvepen tablets, not long after taking second dose(3 daily) i started to feel weak/nausious/headache and symtoms of palpatations. Also with the calvepen i was given flagyl 400. ## HI, Lazy Hazy! How are you feeling now? Calvepen contains a form of Penicillin, which is an antibiotic and it can cause side effects, such as feeling nauseous, weak and the headache, those are completely normal. With the palpitations, it's a bit hard to say, but there's a greater chance that they have been caused by the infection and your body trying to fight it. However, that is something you should report to your doctor and have checked out, especially if they invo...

How long does it take to completely cure tonsillitis? Is there any chance for reoccurring tonsillitis? ## As detailed in NIH reports, tonsilitis is an inflammation of the tonsils, which may be due to an infection, virus, or other unknown irritant. I have had the flu and severe swollen tonsils for 3 days. Someone gave me a package of Pentrexyl. Same thing happened 6 years ago and I also had to take an antibiotic. Assuming it's an infection, will this work for my tonsils? ## Hello, Andrew! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're ill. Pentrexyl is listed as containing Ampicillin, which the FDA classifies as an antibiotic that's used to treat various bacterial infections. Typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, it is only appropriate to take, if you have an infection. It will not help with the flu, since that is caused by a virus and taking it inappropriately creates the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Have you c...

I suffer from hypothyroidism and have been on 50 MCG of levothyroxine and vitamin D3 5000 daily and I have had sore and tender throat and uncomfortable to touch. It feels like my throat is closing. I went to the doctor today and she said my tonsils were slightly swollen. I have never had problems with my tonsils. Has anyone had issues with their tonsils or throat while suffering from thyroid issues or on medication? It seems to be a new or different symptom every day! ## Hello, Angela! How are you? No, this medication hasn't been known to cause tonsil issues. Did your doctor prescribe anything to treat it, such as an antibiotic? Is co-aleva for tonsilitis? My doctor has prescribed me a few months ago. And im having a terrible tonsilitis now, can i drink Co-Aleva to treat? ## Tonsillitis is most commonly due to an infection, so this medication will not help eradicate such an issue. Hey, I am having a horrible bout of tonsillitis with bad ear and throat pain. My doctor initially prescribed amoxicillin 3 days ago but pain still persisted, I went back today and got 50mg prednisone daily for 5 days plus a 10 day course of cephalexin. Is 50mg too much over a 5 day period. With previous bouts I was prescribed 10 mg twice daily for 2-4 days with no side effects. I took my first dose after filling the prescription at around 2 PM and am feeling mild discomfort in my muscles and can't seem to sleep. Is this dose to heavy? The pain in ear and throat have subsided which is great but worried about prednisone side effects. Thoughts? ## Hi Kelly, Based on my research, some of the side effects of this medication include: insomnia, sever joint pain, leg pain/cramping, and more...

My 9yr old was perscribed 7.5mls of hydocodone aceteminophen 7.5mg for pain after a tonsilectomy. I have hydroco/apap solution 7.5-500 from her sisters tonsilectomy when she was 6yrs old. Are they the same? Same dose? The hydro/apap expired 7-1-14. Can I still use it? ## Hello, Crystal! How are you? No, you should dispose of the old one. Liquid medications don't last long past the expiration date, they tend to degrade much faster than solid forms and they can also go sour, so it may make her sick, if you give it to her. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I filled her script and p...

aspergum was taken when you had your tonsils out as an adult. Where can find it in Toronto ## Chantal I looked it up, and looks like they quit making it in 2006. All it was, was a gum with aspirin in it. You can get the same effect letting a baby aspirin dissolve in you mouth, then swishing and swallowing with a little water. Hope this Helps.

tonsil swollen, liquid bottle ## perhaps this is a form of magic mouthwash made from maalox, lidocaine and dipenhydramine or benedryl. it is used widely for relief of mouth and throat pain ## I believe Laurie is correct. And just to note for future viewers, Diphenhydramine is the generic for Benadryl, so they are one and the same. Has anyone else used this product?

swollen tonsils ## I used this medication for an ear infection that work wonderfully had no other interactions with my medication. This medication was actually prescribed to my cat following oral surgery. My son had his tonsils removed on 6/2/2009. He has been on this medication for 10 days for severe ear pain/throat pain especially before eating/sleeping. Is this drug addictive? Should I be concerned that he is still taking? My husband is more concerned. I would like to trust physician's recommendation in that they would not prescribe for so long if it were a concern. I need a second opinion please. ## When I worked pain management in a very large hospital in Atlanta, I was taught that if you take the medicine for pain, there is almost no risk for addiction. If, however, he is taking it for a "feeling" then there is an issue. True pain needs to be treated. I hope this helps.
