are they better, are they only orally taken ## There is no capsule shaped, red, time released Oxycodone on the U.S. market. It is only available as the name brand and the 30mg tablet is a round, brown tablet, with either an OC, or an OP on one side and the number 30 on the other. What are the markings on the tablet you have? And yes, all such tablets should only be taken orally.

how many can i take a day??? im taking 2 aday want to take 3 preday... ## What has your doctor advised? Oxycontin is a time released medication, containing the active ingredient Oxycodone, which is a very potent narcotic. It is time released over a 12 hour period and the dosage frequency should not be changed, without your doctor's approval. This is usually only done in severe circumstances, where someone's pain levels are really out of control.

I've been taking oxycontin 30mg with oc on them - this time i got oxycontin 30 with op on them and they seem to make me sick. What is the difference? ## Oxycontin OP is brand new to the market and is replacing the regular Oxycontin. The only difference is that the Oxycontin OP has been specially formulated to help prevent abuse. Even if someone tries to crush or chew it, it will retain its time released properties. Otherwise, it works the same and has the same side effects: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I am not certain why it would be making you sick, as compared to the other ones, have you tried contacting your doctor or pharmacist about it? ## the new pill u are now getting is a new formula of the old oc and is supposed to be tamper proof so people cant abuse th...

How can I convince the doctor to give me the instant release Opana? I'm on the ER 10 mg Opana's now but would like the instant release I take with Oxycodone 30 mg. The regular release Opana seem to work better with my oxycodone. ## Hello, Vickie! How are you? I doubt they will, because usually pain management uses a time released medication and a regular release formulation. You may be able to switch to a time released Oxycodone and a regular release Opana. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am prescribed 6 Opana 10 mg immediate release, and I have come a long way considering they ran me as a guinea pig and had me on it all - from Fentanyl patch 100 (yes that's right 100 mcg), and the breakthrough med was dilaudid 4 mg and the 8 mg, as well as having been on OxyContin (the op kind / not the old ones). That was in my experimental days. I was on the 60's of those which didn't help even with the breakthrough pain. I lost a lot of good friends from the old ones. They overdosed and died. The new version never touched my pain either. I was on 15, to 20, to 30 mg. Also Lortab and Percocet (the 10's). None helped my pain. All you think is about is the pain and just wanting a normal life. And not having to depend on damn pills ever again. To be able to have babies ...

I currently take 20mg methadone twice a day with MSIR 30mg tabs 4 daily=120 total. I am trying to find which dose of oxycodone would be the equivalant of my current dose of Morphine IR. Its been VERY hard filling that script for approx 6 months now and is getting worse. So one option is switching to another medication. Some of the problem is that medicine isnt used as much as it once was. My monthly appt w/ nuerologist is in 2 weeks...so please answer this ASAP Also if any brand names are know thats fine...my insurance will prob substitute generic but brand names help when talking to doctors. Thanks everyone!!! ## You would need 20mgs of Oxycodone to equal each 30mgs of Morphine. A small white pill with a M on one side and a 30 on the other side, is this Oxycodone? ## This tablet contains Oxycodone 30 mg (NDC 0406-8530). Inactive Ingredients: - Cellulose, Microcrystalline - Lactose Monohydrate - Stearic Acid - Fd&c Blue No. 2 Ref: DailyMed ## My friend gave me a pill for pain and she said it was Oxycodeine. I weigh about 110 pounds and I have been dealing with lower back pain from a fall which injured my tailbone and also have pain in my legs. For six years now . I was wondering how strong the morphine 30 milligram extended release was? I have had loratab before and 20 milligram oxycodone. But I certainly don't want to overdose on it. Can someone help me out? I have a fair tolerance to opiods. ## Hello, Sis! How are you? Each 30mgs of Morphine is actually equivalent to 20mgs of Oxycodone, so Oxycodone is actually 1 and a half times stronger, which should give you some basis for comparison. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ...

Does it hurt the op 40's if they are cut in half? I don't like to take the whole pill at once. ## Since these are time released tablets, it isn't advisable that you cut them in half, because even with the new formulation, it could still result in the Oxycodone being released faster, so you get too much in your body, at once. There are lower dosages available, have you tried asking your doctor about just prescribing a lower one? ## That's not correct you can cut them ## Yeah you can. I seriously just took a 30mg op cut in half and it felt like 5 or six of my 10 mg (pink) oxycodone. I believe my tolerance is pretty high and my doctor has me on 8 pink 10's a day. So to answer your question you'd be fine taking half a 40. Don't listen to all the conservatives. Li...

Oxymorphone Drug Index

Oxymorphone (sold under the brand names Numorphan and Opana among others) is a highly potent opioid analgesic indicated for treatment of severe pain. Pain relief after injection begins after about 5–10 minutes, after oral administration it begins after about 30 minutes, and lasts about 3–4 hours for immediate-release tablets and 12 hours for extended-release tablets.[4] The elimination half-life of oxymorphone is much faster intravenously, and as such, the drug is ...

can i split one in half or quarter ## No, it is not safe to cut and divide these tablets. This is a 30mg Oxycontin tablet, which contains the narcotic Oxycodone in a time released formulation. Cutting or breaking the tablet could result in your getting too much of the medication, at once, which could result in overdose. The new formulation is supposed to help prevent this, but the danger is always there. If you need a lower dosage, you should speak to your doctor about prescribing it in a lower dose or different formulation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## It is only safe to cut an oxycontin (op) inhalf if it is a 20mg or less cause cause the most a person should intake of instance release is 10mg unless said different from.doctor... due to case of overdose.. But from all the bad reviews on the oxycontin im not sure i want to take the whole 30. Is cutting it in half safe? Will it be the same as taking 15mg? ## No, it is not safe to cut or break Oxycontin tablets. This is a time released formulation of the medication, so doing so could cause you to get too much of the medication, at once, which may result in overdose. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. If you can't refill until the end of October, you must have just gotten it filled. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do. No pharmacy can give you another fill on it. How to detox from home, I'm trying to get off these 30mg OPs I been prescribed for more than ten years, and I'm tired of the addiction,, please help me find a way to detox...... ## The only thing I can ever say helped me were a couple valium and LOTS of fluids, stay hydrated!!! Good luck!! ## A slow taper is usually best. However, the problem is that these are time released, so you can't cut or break them. How many do take each day? Have you consulted a medical professional for assistance? The FDA lists the typical withdrawal effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, fever, chills, rebound pain, depression and diarrhea.

Just switched over from oxy 30mg instant release 6x daily to oxycontin 60mg with 2 30mg IR for breakthrough. Been on this for a long time. I find that I'm very disappointed with the oxycontin 60 it seems to only last 5 hours at the most and I have many breakthrough pains during that period of time. I've heard of oxymorphone ER and want to know if this would be better for me due to opioid tolerance. If anybody can give me opinions on this please do. Thanks. ## First off, the 30mg that you're taking cannot be instant release tablets, the instant release is only available in a 5mg capsule.
