I have been on 20mg of Celexa for 5 weeks now. I have noticed little difference. I have to take ativan to get through the day! When can I expect to feel better? ## It usually only takes 4 to 5 weeks to reach its full level of efficacy in your body. If there's been no improvement, then it may not be the right medication to help you and you may need to try something else. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. Have you tried any others? ## Today makes 6 weeks on the Celexa. Not much difference. I have been on many other things, SSRIs, SNRIs, anti psychotics, bi polar meds. I've been on pretty much everything. I have OCD, major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety...

My father is 87 years old has diabetes type 1 but well controlled. He is also bedridden because his thigh bone got fracture and joined with metal support 2 years ago. He eats less amount so we treat him with some cakes or fresh fruit juice which are not very sweet. But he could not eat well since 4 days ago after he relieved from sickness. He is very weak and bp is 136/65. Blood sugar in fasting is around 200. We live far from the city and rare to see doctors. The nurse from our town asked the doctor for this case and he gave cypro 2 tablets. My father could not sleep well also. Is it ok if he takes this medicine and I also want to know the dosage. Thank you very much. ## I am having problems with my sleep cycle. Although I'm very sleepy I can't get a good night's sleep. I...

my friend takes medicine and has liver problems and tells me that her medicine will stay in her liver and dispense at later time.does the liver function like this? ## No, I believe she's misunderstanding how the liver issues may be affecting the medication, when she takes it. It isn't that the liver works as a time release system for any drugs. What often happens, when someone has some type of liver damage/disease is that it can affect the rate at which a medication is processed through the body, so some may be faster or slower than if the person had a healthy liver and, in some cases, they may absorb more or less of the drug than if they had a healthy liver. So from that, her statement does make sense, but she doesn't really have a complete understanding of how it works. Is...

Is there any drug for blood pressure that does not have side effects? All those I have come across for my use have side effects. Any suggestion for a drug without side effects for long term use? ## No, all medications carry the risk of causing side effects. The NIH lists the most common ones for blood pressure medications as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. However, such side effects are usually transient and will go away, once your body gets used to the medication, which usually takes about 4 to 5 weeks. What medication has your doctor instructed you to take?

My husband had undergone angioplasty 10 months ago. He has been prescribed Cardace 10 mg, clopilet 75 mg, ecosprin 150 mg, covance D, rosuvas 20 and amlopres AT. How long should he continue with all these medicines. Is it ok if he takes either ecosprin or clopilet as in my opinion both these medicines are for thinning of blood. Please suggest. ## First, I would like to state that this site is not medical professionals, so we cannot possibly suggest any changes or duration to his use of these medications. How long he needs to use them is something he will need to discuss with his doctor, it may even need to be a lifelong thing, but only they can decide that. Now, there is probably a reason that his doctor has him on both the Clopilet, which contains Clopidogrel and the Ecosprin, which co...

I have been addicted to 150mcg. of fentanyl patches. I'd like to know why suboxone is taking so long to make me feel like I can function again? Took it before to get off methadone and it worked great. I have been on 16mg of suboxone for 45 days but now I have no energy and feel like I was hit by a train. Is there anything I can do or take to function again? ## Hello, Teresa! How are you? You may not be on the right dose, yet. Suboxone can be dosed up to 32mgs a day. Have you informed your doctor of the problem, yet? The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can hel...

is colozapam for anxiety and depression ? ## The pill in description is Clonazepam; which is a benzodiazepine derivative with highly potent anticonvulsant, muscle relaxant, and anxiolytic properties. To learn more click on the link below... Do you have any more questions or information to add? Please post back if you do. ## I was prescribed it to help deal with severe chronic pain and what goes with that. Although it wasn't prescribed for depression, I suffer from that due to chronic pain and PTSD. WELL This is marketed under the brand name Klonopin and it was a trade off. I would be able to sleep (it's extremely sedating), but for the next 24-36 I would be a different person. Almost like a zombie. Worst side effect I had was it takes away any coordination, slurred speech, and w...

Has anyone heard of such a high dose being prescribed ?? ## Hi Bry, According to the US National Library of Medicine, the maximum recommended daily dose of Vyvanse is 70 mg. They go on to state that "doses greater than 70 mg/day of Vyvanse have not been studied." Ref: dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/lookup.cfm?setid-fed5402283f6#nlm34068-7 With that being said, it sounds like her doctor is either over prescribing or she's over using the amount he did prescribe. This has potential to be habit forming and very addicting, so I'd continue to keep an eye on her if you feel like she's digging herself into a deeper hole. How long has she been taking Vyvanse for? ## Vyvance, a prodrug usually seen as a long acting capsule or time realease patch is absorbed over a period of any...

Tell me the medicine to take to postpone mensuration and its possible effects? ## Hi Lawal, You may want to contact your gynecologist about trying a hormonal contraceptive approach, since I've heard of many women taking these types of pills in a particular manner in order to alter the timing of their menstrual cycle for major events such as weddings or other obligations. As far as side effects are concerned, this is a risk with pretty much any prescription medication, so it's not something you can completely rule out. However not everyone who takes contraceptives experiences adverse effects from doing so. It's really just one of those things to be on the lookout for if you notice any sudden changes in your mood and/or other bodily functions. I hope this helps answer your que...

I started Lunesta 3 days ago. I was on Ambien for 3 years off and on. Switched to Lunesta because the Ambien quit working. It does put me to sleep and I can sleep all nite. But the problem is that it take 2 hours to kick in. Has anyone ever had that happen? Should I ask my dr to up my dose? Thanks! ## Hello, Kellie! How are you doing? That is rather odd, so yes, I think discussing it with your doctor would be a good idea. Do you keep a regular sleep schedule and practice good sleep hygiene?

How are you? Ciprofloxacin will not help you conceive. It is an antibiotic that's used to treat or prevent bacterial infections, so it will also do nothing to treat the cysts. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Why did the doctor say they were prescribing it?

I have been on hydrocodone for years. Never really helped with my pain. I injured my back several years ago. I just recently was prescribed hydromorphone 4 mg for chronic pain. Just wanted to know if anyone has experience with it. And what can I expect as far as side effects. Any comments would be appreciated. ## The FDA and NIH lists its typical side effects to being similar to those of other opiates, such as the Hydrocodone, so they may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, depression, and constipation. Are you on any other medications? Generally, when they gave it to me in the hospital, I experienced a lot of vomiting. ## I am curious as to how long it takes a 6mg hydromorphone (time-release) to start working? I am just starting to take it. ## Omg! I was put on that after c...

I have SPMS that is rapidly progressing. I was so hoping for positive results from Ampyra, but it actually made me worse because of my balance--or lack thereof. I'd forgotten that was a side effect. I have a bladder infection now so my neurologist told me to stop taking it. It didn't do anything for my spasticity either but instead of drawing my legs up, they extend straight out and I can't bend them. I was so disappointed that Ampyra hasn't worked for me and happy for those it has. ## I am very sorry to read this, it would have been great if it worked for you. However, like any medication, it does help some and not others, they just don't work for everyone. Has your doctor suggested an alternative? ## I have had psms for 32 years.
