Levothyroxine, also known as L-thyroxine, is a manufactured form of the thyroid hormone thyroxine (T4).[2][5] It is used to treat thyroid hormone deficiency (hypothyroidism), including Hashimoto's disease and a severe form known as myxedema coma.[2] It may also be used to treat and prevent certain types of thyroid tumors.[2] It is not indicated for weight loss.[2] Levothyroxine is taken by mouth or given by intrav...

my tsh test report is 56.9 ulU/ml . iam pregnant of 4 months and taking 50mg thyroxin tablets .should i continue intake of tablet or is it harmful to my baby ## I am male of 63 years old I found my TSH 11.6 before 2 months my doctor advised Thyoroxine 25 mg tab for first 30 days then TSH remained 6.68 now i am taking the same tablet of 50 mg. Sir I want to know is it to be continued for many yers or may be discontinued. Thanks ## sarafeen, what has your doctor advised? Levothyroxine is a naturally occurring hormone in the body, so in these doses that usually just replace what your body is missing, it hasn't been known to cause harm to the baby. And Ram, it's really going to depend on how you respond to the current dosage of the medication. Have you talked to your doctor about it?...

i have brought some thyroxine off the internet, they came from india, and they are like a funny shape and they have 25 printed on them, they are pure white.. how do i know if these are genuine pills? and do they make you lose weight? ## From a foreign source and with just that vague imprint, there is really no way to know for sure what you received. It could be anything. This is one of the hazards of ordering from foreign pharmacies that are not regulated by the U.S. FDA. In addition, Thyroxine is not considered safe to be used as a weight loss drug, it is actually only approved and intended to treat Thyroid conditions and since those levels have to be carefully monitored, the blood levels of your Thyroid hormones have to be checked on a regular basis. Have you tried speaking to your do...

I have been taking 25mcg of levothyroxine for about a year and a half when I had to switch to escripts. I received my prescription in the mail and the tablets were now oval and scored and manufactured by SANDOZ. Two weeks into this new script and I started having odd sensations in my chest and my hands would be stone cold. At work I hooked myself up to telemetry and saw that I was throwing PVCs three at a time. Heart rate was 69 and no other issues except a weird feeling I cannot describe accurately. It was the third time that happened while on the new script. I printed out a strip to take to my Dr and had an EKG done with no problems noted (of course I wasn't experiencing any symptoms at the time of the EKG). Anything like this happen to anyone here? ## Hello, Kini! How are you? Yo...

oval, beige, pill, GG337 ## ive been taking levothyroxine for 3 months and i was drinking water regular now ive been taking thyroxine sodium and i cant get enough water please explain the differences thank you derrek ## There aren't really any severe differences, they are both thyroid hormones, given to supplement those are are deficient. However, your body can react differently to differenct medications, so while on one medication you may not experience a lot of side effects, but a switch to a new drug, even in the same class, might result in more severe side effects. Is you continue to experience problems, you should probably consult your doctor, this may not be the right medication for you. Is there anything else I can help you with? ## I have been on levothyroxine 16 years. I have...

I was told this is Armour. Looks like its totally not. I ordered it from India but it says thyroxine sodium tablets. Paid 140 bucks for it to. Which from what I'm reading its totally not Armour. Correct? ## You are correct. Armour actually contains desiccated thyroid gland from pigs. You can learn more Armour details here. Unfortunately, that's one of the hazards from ordering in such a manner, there's really no way of knowing what you may receive. Have you tried contacting the place you ordered from?

Thyroxine gives me debilitating headaches. Armour Thyroid seems to do nothing. Tyrosine and iodine also give me headaches and make me perspire and feel weak. Anyone got any advice? I suffer from hypothyroidism and fibromyalgia ## Levothyroxine is a thyroid hormone used to treat people whose thyroids are underactive. That said, headaches can be a common side effect, though they normally taper off as your body adjusts to the medication. Did yours continue past a month or so? Have you tried talking to your doctor to see if there is a solution, perhaps something you can use for the headaches or to prevent them? ## I have had migraines with Levothyroxine so came off tablets but went on the liquid Iml syringe at a time and increase every three days; this seems to be working. I have been taking Euthyrox, which is Levothyroxine sodium, a synthetic L-Thyroxine (T4), to treat my hypothyroid. Then I read about Thyroxine, which, according to one source, contains both triiodothyronine (T3 and T4), and the effects are not the same as taking T4 alone. But else where on the internet, L-Thyroxine is regarded as the same as Thyroxine, except that the former is more potent than the latter. Is that all the difference between the two?
