wat are d side effects of thyronorm ## Thyronorm is a brand of Levothyroxine sodium that is used to treat hypothyroidism. Dosing must be carefully controlled to achieve TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) levels within the normal reference range. Long-term suppression of TSH values below normal values will frequently cause cardiac side-effects and contribute to decreases in bone mineral density (high TSH levels are also well known to contribute to osteoporosis). Patients prescribed too high a dose of levothyroxine may experience effects that mimic hyperthyroidism. Overdose can result in heart palpitations, abdominal pain, nausea, anxiousness, confusion, agitation, insomnia, weight loss, and increased appetite. Allergic reactions to the drug are characterized by symptoms such as difficulty...

I am a 36 yr old female. Diagnosed with hypothyroidism with very high antibody titre. Initially prescribed with levothyroxine 50mcg, weight gain of 6 lbs per year. Had to change endocrinologist, new prescription for thyronorm 75mcg. Current weight gain is 4 kgs per month, after taking thyronorm 75 for 30 days. Also, thyronorm intake resulted in joint pain, which was not experienced during levothyroxine intake. Should I revert back to levothyroxine 50 or continue thyronorm 75? ## They are both the same medication, Levothyroxine, the Thyronorm is just a brand name for it, so the only difference is in the dosage. You are taking a higher amount of it now, which could explain the joint pain side effect. Learn more Thyronorm details here. Have you talked to your new doctor about the joint pai...

hello Doctor...my daughter is 3 years old and is under thyronorm medication since birth (congenital hypothyroidism). She takes 62.5 mcg of thyronorm every morning regularly. This morning she just chewed about 10-12 additional 50mcg tablets in a flash before we could realise. We immediately made her vomit things and took her to a nearby hospital who also sent a tube through her noose and cleaned her stomach. But the doctor has asked us to be at the hospital for a 24hr observation. Does a person on 25 MCG of Thyronorm often experience the side affects of weight gain and hair loss from this drug? Or...is that fairly rare? I have thin hair and weight gain already...due to my slugglish thyroid problem. I hardly want to be on medication that causes these problems to continue. ## Yes, a large percentage of people do experience them, that's why they are denoted by the name 'common side effects.' However, since it would be used to help correct your existing thyroid problem, there is a good chance it will balance out for you, rather than worse the problem. Have you discussed your concerns with your doctor?

Please reply urgently. ## If you have reason to fear for the life and health of a loved one, you should contact your nearest emergency services or take them to the nearest emergency department, rather than posting online and waiting for an answer. And overdose of any medication is dangerous and risks death, organ damage and other serious health repercussions. High doses of the Levothyroxine in this creates the risk of seizures, strokes, heart palpitations and extremely high blood pressure. Even if she showed no ill effects, at the time she took them, she needs to see a doctor, because she could have done other damage to her body. How is she doing? ## I take 50mcg thyronorm daily.
