Currently, Telmisartan 40 is marketed in india by several companies. As advised by doctor, I have been taking taking telsartan 40 tablets (1 tab./day) since 4 years. Recently, while purchasing medicines at the pharmacy, I came to know about another product called telsartan 40 aciv. Both compositions appear to be same. Cost of 30 'Telsartan 40' tablets (3 strips of 10 each) is roughly about Rs. 345, whereas the cost of a bottle containing 30 'Telsartan 40 Activ' tablets is Rs. 90 only. Both are the products of Dr. Reddy's Laboratory. I am taking telmisartan 80 for BP for past 2 years. how safe it is? And it have any side effects. ## Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist used in the management of high blood pressure. Research I was able to gather doesn't indicate that Telmisartan has any side effects. With that being the case I believe it is a safe drug. I have been taking Stamlobeta for the past 8 years and my blood pressure is quite under control. However, I was diagnosed with diabetes in 2010 and am currently taking Glycomet 250mg. As my fasting blood sugar levels are consistently above normal, my doctor recently advised me to stop taking Stamlobeta and start Telmisartan, 40mg a day. My question is; can I immediately stop Stamlobeta as my doctor suggested and take Telmisartan? Or alternatively, do I need to gradually reduce the dose of Stamlobeta over a two-week period before stopping it completely? If I need to taper off Stamlobeta, is it then safe to take half a tablet of Telmisartan, that is 20mg, along with 25mg of Stamlobeta? Please enlighten me on this subject.

I had high bp since last 3 years i was on atenolol salt. it helped me but since july 2011 it was not effective. then doctor put me on telmisarton & metoprolol succinate i.e TELZY MT 50 i was also suffering from mild lvh and RBBB. AFTER one month my bp became 120-80 and no other comlications and i am still feeling the same bp 120-80 and feeling normal. ther is no swelling of ankles or anywhere else. but on serum test my creatinine level has increased to 123 and e gfr reduced to 55. in july this was 85 and 95. doctor is of opinion that this is because of this medicine. i also take fenofibrate and atorvastatin i od. kindly advise rise in creatinine with in 6-7 months ## Did your doctor suggest any alternative medications or changing the dosages? I am using this for past 9 months the above medicine(morning) and clinidipine 10mg at night my weight reduced nearly 7kgs and also at present borderline in blood sugar and my triglyceride also increased slightly.
