Have been on bactrim for at least four days. Blood showed up in my urine today. Have a very bad irritation. ## @irritated, Sorry to hear about your experience on Bactrim. From what I could gather, the following symptoms are listed as side effects of Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim (the two active ingredients): - black, tarry stools - unusual bleeding - blood in the urine or stools Ref: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0045169/#DDIC602685.side_effects_section They go on to note that you should check with your doctor immediately in the event that you do experience such symptoms, since in some cases, they may require medical attention. I hope this info helps and that you're able to find an alternative means of relief through something much safer.

have been taking nerve meds for years. taking pain medication. lately waking up naseus, go to bathroom tarry stool looking for over the counter relief good rest of day drink cola, or ginger ale eat lightly but stressed. iwork in a hospital i am a patient escorter hard work please advise. ## Have you consulted your doctor? That's really the only way you are going to be able to get a proper diagnosis and treatment options. Anything given from just the limited information in your post would just be guess work. What have you already tried? ## Strongly suggest you get your blood/liver tested. Hope all is well. ## Tarry stools are indicative of blood in them. You could have internal bleeding which would also cause anemia and tiredness. You need to see a doctor a.s.a.p.

After an ablation I had a monitor on for 30 days. The doctor said I had Afib and put me on 100 mg of flecainide twice a day plus 5 mg of eliquis twice a day. I seem to be having constipation problems. Plus blood in rectal area which could be from something else as I have had that problem before. ## Hi Nancy, Sorry to hear about your situation. From what I could gather, "red or black, tarry stools" are listed as a side effect of Eliquis (Apixaban) on medlineplus.gov. "Black, tarry stools" + "constipation" + "blood in the urine or stools" are all listed as side effects of Flecainide on nih.gov. It sounds to me like either medication could potentially be the culprit, but I would encourage you to contact your doctor about this just to be on the safe side. Hop...

my mom just did an angioplasty her doc prescribed her to take clopilet 75 mg 2 dose and ecosprin 150 mg 1 dose in a day bt she mistakenly took ecosprin 2 dose and also she took clopilet 2 hrs after taking ecosprin is there any risk ? ## Ecospin just contains Aspirin and there isn't a great risk of harm if she just took two in one day, but she should be extra careful and if she notices any signs of possible bleeding, such as vomiting blood, or black tarry stools, she should seek medical attention. Learn more Ecosprin details here. Learn more Clopilet details here. She should tell her doctor about it, just to be on the safe side though. Has she called her doctor yet?

I think the pill is a form of diet pill, decrease appitite or what ever type of pill, but I threw away the bottle, so I don't know what this pill is for sure! ## This is not a form of diet pill rather it is guifensin 600mg/phenylephrine 30mg. This is a generic form of Entex La and many others. It is a decongenstant/phlegm or mucus thinner. It helps one to stop coughing yet be productive in expelling the phlegm when one does cough. Look out for marked drowsiness, yet the possibility of insomnia as well, tarry stools, fainting or sweating spells.

I hate to be indelicate but I have noticed something strange since taking Eliquis. My urine and bowel movements smell different and I wondered if anyone else had noticed this. I would describe it as sort of a toasted oaty fragrance. I am not making this up or being weird. I am concerned and hope I am not along. ## Oh my goodness YES, it does have an odd smell. ## NIH.gov actually lists the following side effects associated with Eliquis (Apixaban): red, brown, or pink urine; red or black, tarry stools. However nothing in particular about its smell. Has anyone else experienced these odd colors in their urine/stool or think that this may be attributing to the different smell in some way? In either case I would suspect it's more than likely Eliquis that's causing the problem if you...
