Tapering Off Schedule

Does anyone know how to taper off this nasty drug? Take 15mg every night sometimes during day too. Have been on this drug for five years, prescribed 7.5mg from Dr (script of 14 every month). ## If you are only taking 14 a month, that is not a crazy amount, so you should be able to taper off of them, do so slowly is usually best. Have you informed your doctor that you want to stop taking it? They may be able to help you with a proper tapering schedule. How often do you take it? Do you take them right in a row, so you are out for the rest of the month, or do you space them out over the month? The NHS warns that this medication may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, hallucinations, and next day hangover-like effects. I had brain surgery 3 mos. ago. Was almost off the oxycodone when I developed a bone infection in my skull. Went on very high dose. Came out of the hospital with a PICC line and on 20 mg ir oxycodone 6 x a day. Down to 5mg 6 x a day but now I am having a very hard time reducing anymore. Can I go down by half and not have any wd symptoms? Or should I come down slower. ## It might be best to taper slower, your doctor should be able to help you set up a proper schedule. Are you taking the regular release, or the time released formulation? The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

My friend is desperately wanting to quit Tapering off methamphetamine after about 5 or 6 years of using. she only uses it now as needed to curb to pains she feels from withdrawals and has gone from using daily to only using every 2 or 3 days over the passed 5 months. She is trying to "taper" and doesn't use it to feel high anymore. she eats well, sleeps regularly and never looks tweaked out. Never misses work. she says she gets physically sick when withdrawing and would need a week or two off work in order to go cold turkey, so tapering is the only option she has right now. She says she hates everything about it and what its done to her and wants this taper schedule to work. Has anyone done this before, and if so, can you share your schedule and the things that worked best f...

Hey so I have been taking tramadol for about 4 years I have a broken tail bone and 2 slipped disk in my back, Im 7 and a half months pregnant and my obgyn and pain management Dr are both working together to taper Me off this horrible drug because when I found out I was pregnant I stopped taking it and bam I had withdrawals. They have me on a tapering schedule to slowly wean me down off of this but my concerns are will I get my baby taken from me if she has mild with drawls still ? Even though my Dr is aware of my dependency and is prescribing me the tramadol and has me on a schedule ? I'm just very concerned I've tried just quitting it several times cold turkey and the last time I ended up in the hospital. I am very worried about CPS getting involved but my Dr don't seem con...

Hello, I've been taking 2 mg of Clonzepam for about 5 yrs. If I go longer than four days without it, I can't function. While I do have panic disorder, I'm fairly certain the feelings/actions are withdrawl. In the past month I've been able to taper down to 1.5, and I want to continue until I'm no longer dependent on the drug. I need a realistic schedule on tapering/detox, and do I just fight through the withdrawls (i.e. fingers, arms, hands curling, numbness, anxiety, etc) My Dr doesn't get it...I'm in the process of finding another, but some help in the interim would be great. ## To the person who was taapering off clonazapam. I hope you are doing it slow enough. I take 5mg down from 6 and drop half a pill once a month per Doctors orders. I have had no side e...

Hi everybody, I accidently switched my 1 mg tablets with 5 mg. As a result I'been taken 13 mg of prednisone instead of 5 mg. I'been tapering prednisone 1 mg in two weeks prior to this. What do I do now? Switch back to 5 mg a day, or taper off 13 mg gradually? Thanks ## If you've been taking it for less than 21 days, there night not be a need to taper, if it's been longer than that, I would suggest speaking to your doctor for an appropriate taper schedule, in light of your dosing error. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Prednisone as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, acne, nervousness, and insomnia. Ref: Prednisone Information Are you on any other medications?

What is a good taper schedule after taking Tizanidine 8 MG every night for 6 years? ## Hi Missy, Due to the length of time you've been taking this drug, it's hard to say what method might work best for you. I can only offer my opinion, but think it could just come down to making a decision based on trial and error, if you reduce the dosage by a little too much or not enough (every few weeks). If it were me in your shoes, I would try cutting the pills into halves or fractions if necessary. Then consistently take that divided dose for a period of several weeks and taper down that way. Your body should tell you instinctively if the divided dose is suitable or if you need to wait longer before tapering down again. Just remember that even if it takes you months to a year or longer to...

Prescribed as a added medication for anxiety/depression. If I feel it's giving me side effects would it be suggested to taper off 100mg per a nightly dose of 1000mg? Been taking this for 5 years. ## That's actually a very high dose and you've been taking it for a very long time, thus a 100mg reduction might be too much. Learn more Gabapentin details here. What types of side effects is it causing? It would be odd to experience them after such a long period of time. Have you consulted your doctor? They'd be best able to guide you on a safe tapering schedule. Since this is an anticonvulsant, tapering down too fast could put you at risk of seizures, so it's not safe to try to play with it on your own.

I have not taken my cit. For three days of experimentation and it is not good. Low focus, anxiety, tired (sleep great tho) and dizzy and headache. Will get back on it tonight. ## HI, Charlie! Are you feeling any better? These types of medications that act on brain chemicals should never be stopped abruptly, because doing so will usually cause withdrawal and rebound effects. Learn more Citalopram details here. If you want to stop taking one, it's best done on a very slow tapering schedule supervised by your doctor.

My work comp insurance company has determined I no longer need any of my Meds. I have been taking Kafian 30 and Kadian 10 for over 8 years. At the same time they are weaning me off Trazadone 200, Sertralene 200, oxy for breakthrough and my lido seem patches. What is the safest way to do this? I still need my pain mess. I am scared to death. ## Hello, Patti! How are you? I'm very sorry about what you're going through. The best thing to do would be to consult your doctor for assistance. They'll be able to help you set up a proper tapering schedule or they may be able to prescribe something to help prevent the withdrawal symptoms. The FDA classifies Kadian as a This narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizzi...

I've been taking Lexapro for over 10 yrs and don't like being dependent on it - has anyone successfully stopped their dependence on this drug? ## Many people have successfully stopped taking it, it's really a matter of doing so properly. If you're not replacing it with a similar medication, it should be tapered slowly to avoid the worst of the withdrawal symptoms and your doctor should be able to help you set up an appropriate tapering schedule. The FDA lists the typical withdrawal effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, chills, fever, diarrhea, rebound depression and anxiety. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hey there, I was on 20mg of lexapro a day for 3 years. Went (kinda) cold turkey. So glad I did. The month leading upto it I actually started skip...

I have been taking it for 25 years I want to change to xanax. ## Hello, Angie! How are you doing? After having been on it for such a long period of time, a careful tapering schedule is most likely going to be needed to prevent your having withdrawal issues and rebound effects. Have you talked to your doctor about it? They should be able to help you discover a tapering schedule that will work for you and minimize any possible problems.

I am starting to wean off of Savella tomorrow. The side effects are just more than I can stand. I've been on it for over six months and I have heard a few horror stories. I'm sacred it may be hard for me to come off. I'm kinda scared. Any one know about this? ## Hi Karen, You seem to be doing the right thing. Usually for drugs like this the safest way to stop taking them is to tapper off them, if possible. Some medications can be taken in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pieces can be taken in place of the regular dose for a period of several weeks until the body is no longer dependent upon them. In addition to that, I'd also suggest making yourself a tapering schedule on a calendar to track your progress and keep you on the right path to complete y...

I'll try to be detailed but I just started weaning off Nuvigil so I am very unclear. I became very dependent on this medication and I just need to face the fact that there is no other option. I'm very scared of withdrawing so I thought I would post. ## Hi Tracy, Sorry to hear about your situation. Have you considered talking with your doctor about setting up some sort of tapering schedule that you can adhere to in order to come off safely? I only mention this because, given your description, that's probably what I would do first and foremost if it were me in such a predicament. Feedback in other related threads here have discussed how the withdrawal effects of Nuvigil typically involved symptoms similar to a rebound crash, causing profound tiredness, an inability to concentr...

How long will it take and how dangerous to me . How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. If you were on it for that many years, it will likely take several months to do a proper slow and safe taper.
