ive been taking klonopin for 7 weeks now 0.5 low dose. does anyone know how i would taper off this. i am currently taking 1/2 am 1/2 late afternoon ## maria, you are doing right so far, now you need to take 1/2 a day ,then skip a day , THAT WAY YOUR BODY WILL NOT KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR. ( REMEMBER ,1/2 A DAY THEN SKIP , YOU WILL SEE IN ABOUT 10 DAYS, YOU CAN GO 2 DAYS WITHOUT, AND GO FARTHER APART, SEE FOR YOUR SELF ## With such a low dose, for such a short period of time, you can probably do it more rapidly than the other poster stated. Just watch for withdrawal reactions and make sure to talk to your doctor. ## smoke pot a few days and that will take the edge off of your withdrawls

I would like to hear the experiences of anyone that has tapered off OpanaER. I am on 30 mg 3 times a week. Please share how you did it or are doing it. Thanks ## Have you consulted your doctor for advice? They would really be the best person qualified to help you with tapering off of them, while minimizing any possible withdrawal effects. How long have you been taking it?

I can only share my experience but I will stick to the facts: If you want off of these life/joy killers. 1)they claim 12hour time released med. NO TRUE OF OXICONTIN 40mg, i could only enjoy my life in 7 hour increments, sometimes 8 rarely but 9 max if you don't mind feeling like crap for a couple hours This is not anything new, Doctors know it pharmacists know it, most of all, your insurance co. Knows it & they don't want to fill it or pay for it. If you are considering use of this med to fight of chronic I pain this med does the job. I took my time & reaserchd prior to, accepting the knowledge of Chem dependency but the pain outwade the decision. Hindsite, you will spend day after day making sure, everyone dots I's & crosses T's, it's rare that a simple Rx

trying to detox from subone have been on 8mgs a day for 15 months need help please thank you. ## Hi confused, I hope I don,t confuse you more but heres what I did when I got down to 8mgs. By the way, it was my sub. drs. taper plan. For 2 weeks I alternated, day 1 8mgs. day2, 4mgs. day3, 8mgs.day4, back to 4mgs. This averages out to 6mgs. I kept this routine up for 2weeks then tapered to 4mgs. From the 4mgs I tapered 1mg. per week. After the last week on 1mg. I stopped completely. I was taking the strips and when I got down to 4mgs. sub dr. prescribed the 2mg strips just because it was easier to cut. Tapering this way was a walk in the park. No wds. bettween tapers. Last week on 1mg I woke up couple times thruout night but went right back to sleep. No problems after that. Been off subs s...

Just wondering the best way to taper off Ativan. I have been on Ativan for 3weeks now, was put on for anxiety 1mg. 4x a day. My doctor told me to take this much for a week and then taper to 1mg 3x a day the next week and that is when I would see him again. Well I did what he told me to do and the first week it really helped me and then I cut it down to 3 a day but by the 3rd day of tapering down to 3 A day I started feeling a little shaky and a bit Anxious. I saw my doctor 2days after this and was really quite emotional. He stated he was hoping that this would take care of my anxiety and that I could start tapering but it did not look like that was going to happen. He put me on lexapro and I have now been on this for a week and still taking Ativan per my doctor until lexapro kicks in. I...

My husband and I were addicted to opiates for several years. We started on Methadone maintenance about a year ago and it has worked wonderfully. We are now ready to move on with our lives. We knew from the beginning that we were not going to be on Methadone for the rest of our lives. We are ready for traveling, babies, and life without methadone. My husband turned down an awesome job out of state to taper down correctly instead of quitting cold turkey, as the state the job was in had no methadone clinics. We both spoke to our counselors to discuss tapering off methadone. My counselor was very supportive, but, my husbands counselor is horrible and said that "he needs to come to the realization that some people stay on methadone for the rest of their lives". My husband explained t...

So I was on 3-4 oxycodone 30mg for about a year less then a month ago I was switched to fentanyl 100mg patches I don't like them can i quit cold turkey since I have only been on about month or less or do I have to taper off? ## Fentanyl is a very potent narcotic, it's over 80 times stronger than Morphine, so quitting cold turkey isn't advisable. You may end up experiencing severe withdrawals, that could put you in danger. A slow taper with medical assistance would be the best thing to do. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Are there any other questions or concerns? ## I got them from a friend because i lost my script and could go cold turkey I...

Went from 100 mcg fentynal to 25. Had a hard time going to 12 so went back to 25. Im wondering (since there's no way out of that withdrwal from hell), if I take it off for about 4 hours then put it back on for a couple hours would help lower my tolerance. Am I wasting my time and enduring more hell than necessary, or am I making some headway? Any and all suggestions are are welcome big or small. Thanks! ## Is your doctor helping you to taper off? If so, then you may want to ask them about Actiq, it's a Fentanyl lollipop that might enable you to taper the dosage even more, while still minimizing withdrawals. I know the concept of a medication in lollipop form seems rather strange and I'm not sure who thought of it, but it was done that way to allow control of the release of t...

Four months ago, I was found to have pulmonary embolisms in all segmental and subsegmental lobes of my right lung and my upper left lung. There was no known cause; all ultrasounds were negative as was all blood work associated with PE. My EKG was normal. My blood pressure is 120/70. I have been taking Eliquis since. I would like to quit taking Eliquis since no one can figure out what caused these and there seems to be nothing else wrong with me. So how do I taper off this drug? ## Hello, Georgia! How are you? I'm not sure if you understand the gravity of this situation, pulmonary embolisms can be deadly, if left untreated and, once someone has experienced one or more of them, they can be very prone to experiencing more. Thus, it is best to continue the medications, as long as your d...

I have been using loratab 10s about 1.5 a day for severe tooth pain for about a year now I seem to be stuck on them. Now I use just to get thru my day. I have read so much about tapering but I have no insurance nor alot of money to afford more and more.. I want off of the pills tho and don't know how to do it safely. I tried cold turkey and I can make it thru day one but day two is too much to handle. I need help badly before it gets any worse. Does anyone have any advice?? Some have told me to go to the ER when I'm withdrawaling and they can help but I want to do it at home not another way. What's the best way I can kick this? ## Hello, Sueme! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. However, what you really need to do is get the dental issu...

I have been taking Silenor for 5 night. My doctor gave it to me as I tapered off of Seroquel. I was on 25 mg of Seroquel for 2 months. I tapered the pill down in quarters until I was off. I was. I was very excited because I was falling asleep on my own again, but had trouble staying asleep (sleep maintenance). So my doctor told me to try Silenor to help me stay asleep. It hasn't been working very well. I do sleep longer, but I still have frequent wake ups. I have also been having headaches, night sweats with my dreams and feeling pretty out of it in the morning. My mood has also been low. Do I need to taper off the 3mg of Silenor after only 5 nights?

What can I take right after I jump off my gabapentin taper to buffer withdrawal? Any other type of med?? ## Hello, Noble! How are you? Are you tapering or just trying to stop it abruptly? If you stop abruptly it can create the risk of seizures, according to the FDA. Other withdrawal effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, depression and headache. ## I've looked into natural herbal teas to ease WD's from gabapentin. I found Valerian root, lemon balm, passionflower, hops, and chamomile along with lavender flowers combined into a tea helps greatly! {edited for privacy} ## Thanks for the reply. I have tapered down to 100mgs. Scared to jump off. I awfully terrified of heights. I've heard some awful stories.

will the morphine 30 ce help with withdrawls? From dilaudid 8 mg i have been taking the dilaudid 4xA day? ## I am taking cr30 mg morphine sulfate should i take 2 since i have been on dilaudid 8 mg 4x a day I need to worj i just want to keep the withdrawls undercontroll? ## Hello, Spring2b! How are you doing? Why are you stopping the Dilaudid? I wouldn't suggest doubling up on the Morphine, without your doctor's approval. It's also going to be difficult to take enough to make it equal to the effects of the Dilaudid. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## I have exstreamly bad mirgraines and ran low i dont get my refill till monday i have been tak...

Hi. Kinda stressed over tapering off of ambien under my doctors supervision. Tonight I start taking 3/4 ambien for a week then 1/2 for a week and then 1/4/for a week. I'm dreading it and very concerned I won't sleep at all. I've taken it for about 2 years. He anticipates my sleep being disturbed more heavily by the time I get to 1/4. Has anyone done this before. What can I expect. Arg. I'm thinking it's going to be horrible. But currently with it I'm can't sleep past 6 hours at all. And feel kinda numb emotionally during the day. Thanks ## I forgot to add. I take 10 mg. ## Hello, Ajs! How are you? I understand your concern and yes, you will most likely have trouble sleeping for awhile, until your body gets used to being without the medication. I have been tapering off of Ativan (name brand) 2 mg per day going on 8 days now. The cost is one big reason I decided to do so (now $700 for a one months supply) and also I would like to be set free from this. I have been on this medication for over 25+ years. Has anyone had success getting completely off of this medication? Do you recommend something else to replace it that would be a safer choice. I have had a severe panic/anxiety disorder for a long time. I used to take 3 mg, but felt almost normal lately on 2 mg....until the cost went up. I have tried cognitive behavioral therapy in the past. (The best part about it was just having someone to talk to about my anxiety/panic, etc). ## Hello, Flowers! How are you? Please don't do too rapid of a taper, because that creates the risk...

I just finished a medrol taper 3 days ago and my doctor gave me a whole new dose to taper. Is it safe to take it this close together? ## Hello, Kate! How are you? For the results, it is always a good idea to follow your doctor's instructions. The FDA warns that this medication may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, acne, and irritability. What condition is being treated?

I was on 180mg ER morphine for 6 years & four 15mg MSIR. I weaned myself off of the 180 mg ER in May & am currently down to one 15mg MSIR every 12 hours. I'm suffering from intractable pain that has me bedridden & I've been hospitalized weekly for severe dehydration, dangerous high BP & uncontrollable blood sugars. I'm stuck on this dose, with my Dr knowing what I'm doing & don't understand why I can no longer tolerate even a small reduction. Granted I've been doing this for 3 straight months & my body is exhausted, but I can't do this anymore. I'm dependent, not addicted & have never abused. I live in Harrisburg PA & no Dr will help me despite my proving myself. What's the best way to finish this process? ## In Iowa ev...

My dr put me on a librium taper on Wednesday of last week. I felt great for two days. Unfortunately I blew it with Super Bowl weekend etc and drank a lot Friday to sunday. Any way yesterday and today I went back to my taper but it doesn't seem to be as effective. Did I completely ruin my taper by drinking and taking librium? What should I do? Tx. ## What did you do while you were drinking? Did you go back to your original dose? I am not understanding what would have disrupted your taper. Drinking when you're taking any medication isn't advisable, however, I am sure you're already aware of that. I've been on lexapro 20 mg for more than ten years and, for a variety of reasons, am tapering off of it. Over the past 15 months, through an extremely slow and painful process, I've gotten down to 7.5 mg. For some reason I don't seem to be able to get further. I'm using liquid right now and taking 7 mg and it's unbearable. I don't know how half a milligram makes such a difference. Any tips on getting out of this hole and keeping on with progress? ## Hello, Sophia! How are you? I'm sorry about what you're going through. Have you spoken to your doctor? They may be able to prescribe something to help with the withdrawal effects, until your past the worst of them, such as Klonopin or Ativan. The FDA classifies those medications as benzodiazepines, so they car...
