PLS HELPPP! i was on methadone for 3 years...went from 80mg down to 20mg...then switched to suboxone...been on it for about 3 months maybe 4...on 16mg...but im having a lotttt of pain problems...i have severe headaches...i feel nauseated all the time... can barely sleep (which is a lot due to the pain) and my dr. has yet to find anything...the methadone is out of my system...i guess where im getting at is can this be due to withdraw symptoms from the methadone even though its not in my system? and has anyone dealt with something similar? and if so what did you do?? ( especially for the pain ) on a side not does anyone one have any recommendations for relieving severe pain while on suboxone...or even methadone?!?! ## It sounds like you actually may be on too low of a dose of the Suboxone...

If u run out of suboxone, can u take a cap full of methadone? If so, how long the wait before taking suboxone again? ## Hello, Papotimbal! How are you? The Naloxone in the Suboxone is likely to just neutralize the Methadone, that's actually why it's used in it, to prevent the abuse of other narcotics, while someone is under treatment with it. And, if you have a treatment contract with your doctor, taking the Methadone may also violate that. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I took 6 mg of suboxone yesterday and the only thing besides pills (which I dont want) that I can find today is methadone liquid ..w...

I have been on morphine for about 7 weeks. I take about 100 to 200mg a day. I am about to switch to methadone in the morning. I am going to take 30mg tomorrow morning and 20mg the next morning. Then on the third day I plan on switching to suboxone. I only have 6mg of suboxone to take on the third day. But my question is, Is it safe to take the 6mg of suboxone 24 hrs after taking the methadone for two days,(30mg the first day and 20mg the second day)?? I'm scared to death of going into precipitated withdrawal when I switch to the suboxone, but I can't get any more methadone and all I have is the 6mg of suboxone. I'm ready to stop the morphine for a while. Rehab is not an option and neither is more morphine, I'm broke. ## Actually no, it wouldn't be safe to take the Su...

I take 12mg of suboxone a day and it keeps me level headed and happy for the most part. It’s saved my life, but it doesn’t completely ameliorate my urges to use. Sometimes I wonder if Methadone would work better. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Methadone. Has anybody out there switched from suboxone to Methadone? ## Most people usually end up switching the other way, they go from Methadone to Suboxone, since it has been known to enable people to eventually become drug free, while Methadone is highly addictive, and know to be hard to ever taper off it, so most people must take a lifelong maintenance dose of it. (Suboxone NDC 12496-1212, Methadone NDC 0054-4571.) Have you spoken to your prescriber? You should be able to go up on your Suboxone, for awhile, to help w...

I've been on a hundred and 20 milligrams of methadone for about a year now I'm currently also taking 15 milligrams twice a day of long-acting morphine and a PRN 15 milligram short-acting morphine every 6 hours my methadone clinic is making me taper off the methadone to go on pain management so right now I'm on 60 milligrams of methadone going down every week 10 milligrams is it safe for me to take suboxone once I've completely gotten off the methadone even though I'm going to still be on morphine. They are the strips 8 milligram strips and I'm hoping they will smooth over the effects of the withdrawal symptoms from the methadone ## No, you cannot take Suboxone, while taking other opiates, the FDA warns that doing so could cause you to go into precipitated withdra...

When can I have my suboxone I had 40 mg methadone 7 hrs. ago ## Hello, Teri! How are you? You should follow the instructions provided by your doctor. Suboxone cannot be taken, until you are in full withdrawal from the abused drug of choice. Because along with the narcotic Buprenorphine, it also contains Naloxone, to prevent the abuse of other opiates, while you are being treated with it, so taking it too soon could throw you into severe, dangerous withdrawals. Learn more Suboxone details here. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I need help getting this medication. Where i can get off Methdone? I'm in despression, please help if you can. ## I'd like to know more about this medication, I've been on more than enough pain meds in my time, I'm tired of them & I'd like to get off of them I'd like to find away to get off of pain meds & get my life back & I'd like to find to find a resalution or help in finding out how to. Thank you. ## I also was addicted to pain meds. and I've now been on the Suboxone Strips for about 3 months, what you may no know is that Suboxone is an opiate inhibitor, with means, while you are on the Suboxone, you will not want a pain pill. After you have been on it for a while, you can make the decision that you want to try to get off of the Suboxone,...

It took me a while to get down to it but I just switched from 10 mg of Methadone to Suboxone. How much Suboxone should I have to take, and how long? Also what else can I take with the Suboxone to make it easier? ## I am afraid I don't have that information for you. Doctor's that treat with Suboxone are carefully trained in its use and they have to carefully calibrate the dosage according to how much of the drug you were taking and for how long. On top of that, the tapering must be done very slowly, with the person's health and withdrawal symptoms being taken into account. For some people it can take several months, but other can take several years. Have you considered seeking medical attention? ## Iv been on the methadone program this time for a month now, and I finally got ...

I want to be back on methadone and am on suboxone - should I wait or take it while on suboxone? ## I want to know when can I feel the methadone after taking suboxone for two years ## Only your doctor will really be able to answer this, because it can vary from person to person and, of course, will also depend on your Suboxone dosage as to how much of the Naloxone that you've been taking. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. You will need to wait awhile, but precisely how long can vary. What dosage have you been taking and for how long? ## Randy, do not understand why you want to go back on methadone. I was on it for 20 years and just this year was slid ...

If you're on Methadone can you still take Suboxone safely? ## NO! They are both very strong narcotics, it is not safe to take both. In addition, Suboxone also contains Naloxone, which neutralizes other opiates. This is done to prevent people from still trying to get high off of other narcotics while they are under Suboxone treatment. ## Also it will put you into IMMEDIATE withdrawals...so DO NOT DO IT!!!! ## So true I went into acute withdrawals. I did not feel human. I thought I could go get high and get rid of the feeling, so wrong. I t made it even worse. I am terrified of suboxen now. Don't take it too early! ## NO THAYS WHAT SOB.IS FOR GETTING OFF OG METHAFONE ## Yeah I think you'd be crazy to try. ## First hand info here, do NOT take Sub. with methadone in your system,...

I'm looking for a program in the Tampa area that will allow me to take home the meds from the begining with the the purpose of weaning me down so I can switch to suboxone without major withdrawal side effects. I have some very personal reasons not to go to a place like PAR. Please help. ## Hi Mike! You would have to go to a methadone clinic to get the methadone. They will not give take homes when you first start to go to the clinic. You have to prove yourself over a period of time to get take homes. Private doctors can't prescribe methadone if you've had addiction issues. It's against the law. I was on methadone through a clinic and weaned down before I got on suboxone. You should be supervised while tapering down so you don't go through withdrawals. But, you will ha...

My son is in rehab and they started him on suboxone one 4md in morning and 8 mg in afternoon. I can't find a provider that prescribes this in northern Harford County Maryland (Not Dr. Gay Please) How much is sub for an entire month supply or even daily. ## this site does not prescribe nor sell any medications. The price, however, can vary depending on where you purchase them, it is, quite expensive, though and you will not find a cheap price for it. Do you have any type of insurance to help with this? Have you spoken to the doctors about the possibility of Methadone as an alternative, since it has been on the market much longer and is much cheaper? Most doctors do prefer Suboxone, now, since it has enabled many people to get completely drug free, while a lot of people who use Methad...

How much methadone should i take while im taking one subtext everyday? ## When it comes to proper dosing protocols, usually your doctor is the best person to ask. However I have heard that Methadone and Subutex are sometimes approved to be used together since Subutex doesn't have Naloxone. And please correct me if I'm wrong, but in that aspect you shouldn't have to worry about Subutex taking Methadone off the receptors as Suboxone would; leading to precipitated withdrawals. I would just encourage you to discuss how much you should be taking with your doctor, since he/she is the one prescribing it. Does anyone else have advice from personal experience?

I'm hooked on opiates and want to stop. I've heard that methadone can help, Is this true? How does the program work? ## Hello, Victoria! How are you? Methadone can help, but it may not be an ideal solution. Most people that use Methadone to treat addiction end up requiring a lifelong maintenance dose of it and you have to go to a clinic daily to receive your dose, though after awhile, you may earn the right to have 2 weeks of take home doses. Another option, however, would be Suboxone, which has allowed many people to become completely drug free, it also helps prevent the abuse of other opiates, while someone is being treated with it. In some cases, your first dose is supervised by the doctor or your pharmacist, but usually after that, you get a month's prescription and retu...

Hi, I am new here, although I have been reading up on these posts for my own benefit for similar situations...so, anyway, I have a question, I think I already know the answer to...but here it goes. How long do I need to wait after taking a 10mg Oxy at 3pm, then a 10mgill) methadone at 7pm on friday night, THEN a half piece, (half a pill) at 2pm sat afternoon. It is now 10am sun morning...Im not feeling withdrawls yet. I am an opiate addict & have been for 6yrs now. I am considered a"functioning addict" I think because I have a family, a 3yr old daughter...while I was pregnant, I taoered myself down on my own & took lortab 10's, yellow norcos, less acetaminophen. I then started taking suboxone last yr for 4month. My rehab counselor says Im too smart to be using but I ...

Hello. I am a 26 year old male who has been struggling with opiate addiction for about a decade. Recently I tried the suboxone program which helped to a degree, but meds were way to expensive as well as the Drs appointment. So I am looking for help with my disease and I would like to know if methadone is the right route for me to go. Thanks ## Methadone does help many people and it can be cheaper than Suboxone, however, you will more than likely still have to visit a doctor or clinic regularly. The main drawback to Methadone is that it can also be quite an addictive substance and people that is use it usually end up requiring a lifetime maintenance dose of it, while Suboxone can be slowly tapered and enable the person to eventually become completely drug free. Have you tried consulting ...
