Take Viibryd With Cymbalta

I have been on effexor started the ususal dose and went up to 150 for depression and anxiety, worked at first actually on the 37.5 I was vey happy euphoric I lost 12 poounds in two weeks added plus! but then I was told to double that to 75 mg and then to 150 was doing good but my anxiety creeping up. Doctor switched me to cymbalta 60 mg first 3 days cleaned house felt good then next few days I was very short tempered and angry on the third week I went back for follow up I was starting to sleep better but was tired and kind of out of it all day but anxiety coming back worse, just went back for follow up on that and blood pressure was high so now he switched me to Viibryd started taking the first week dosage of 10 mg today is third day. I am 29 and have been dealing with depression and anxiety since I was 15. I have been on and off everything and it seems to work for a few months and then I get no benefit from it even with increased doses. In 2008 I started passing out or becoming unresponsive for a few seconds up to 15 minutes. They told me I was having non epileptic seizures due to stress. It was a stressful time in my life. This is a warning to you all... A little bit about me first: I'm 6'3" and only 130 pounds. Naturally I am very susceptible to side effects of any drug. I also didn't have my first taste of alcohol until October 2011, which is when I turned 23. Throughout November 2011 I took Cymbalta. I also drank occasionally, but not often and not much. Cymbalta gave me a lot side effects such as an upset stomach, dizzyness, inability to sleep, etc. About mid-December I switched to Prozac, and took it through February. Over the past 15 years I've been on most all the anti-depressant medications on the market: effexor, celexa, paxil, cymbalta, wellbutrin, and prozac for a long time. I started with a new psychiatrist in January of this year and he started me on Viibryd (I'd been on 30mg prozac for the last ten years). He also put me on lamictal because, well, the more the merrier? Anyway, to make a long story short, I was doing pretty well on the Viibryd and Lamictal so I decided heck, I'll try and go off meds and see what happens. Taking viibryd and remeron. The remeron is at night though to help with sleep.....not working as of yet. Waking up in the middle of the night soaking wet in sweat. Viibryd is 20mg in the morning. HI I am on Viibryd for 4 months now and i have these terrible horrific nightmares that i am dyng or sufficating a kind of sleep parasis and it happens a few times a night to where I am aware this drug is causing it. However it happens maybe once a week or once every otherweek so should i just stay on 20 mg i decided to bring it down and go on prozac but i want to make sure i am making the rght dec w doctor of course. hi i'm coming off 40mg of viibryd tapering down to 10mg. i'm on day 4 of the 10mg was told to take the 10mg for 3 more days then on day 8 take nothing then on day 9 start taking my new drug called cymbalta, 30mgs, for 7 days then up to 60 mgs once daily from now on. my question is as long as i wait the day in between the 2 meds, must i go a full 7 days on the 10mgs of viibryd? everyones ready to kill me here and i am ready to do the same so please advise me if its ok to come off the viibryd sooner...thanks ## Hi joe, The only person who can legally advise you to come off your medications is your doctor. I have just finished my first wek of the starter pack. I actually already feel more motivation and energy. Now weaning off Cymbalta at 20 mg/day; also take Trazadone 100 mg 3 at bedtime. Have terrible sleep problems & the Trazadone has been wonderful for that; old drug and cheap...originally prescribed for depression, then people realized they were sleeping better than ever. Have had no real problems with Viibryd as yet. However, I have the Trazadone and take Codeine 30 mg twice a day. That probably has kept me from having the diarrhea most people experience. I take Flecainide for Atrial Fib and was also taking Cymbalta. My doctor want to wean me off of Cymbalta and put me on Viibryd immediately. Does anyone know how compatable these two meds are??? ## Hi Debbie, Based on my research there are no drug interactions found between the active ingredients in Viibryd and Flecainide. This does not necessarily mean no interactions exist, but my sources state that every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is accurate. I am starting to get a little nervous with all the negative feedback in this forum. I was on Cymbalta for a couple of years, but when my doctor increased the dosage I started gaining a lot of weight. He decided to put me on Viibryd. I just finished my trial pack and feel like I have much more energy and can get up earlier in the morning. I feel more focused on things and I feel like my libido is finally working again. The only thing that has happened negatively is the last two days I have been under a lot of stress and have been crying. on day 11 of viibryd and day five of no cymbalta. felt dizzy all this week until last night. but of course symptoms back this morning again. should i be patient with viibryd ## Yes, because you're dealing with two different issues here, the side effects from starting the Viibryd, which can last anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks and the withdrawal/rebound effects from stopping the Cymbalta, which may take just as long to wear off. I have been tapering off Zoloft 100mg and switching to generic Wellbutrin XL 300mg. I gradually went off the Zoloft over a two week period and then started the Wellbutrin XL and I am having bad mood changes and I cry almost everyday. I have picking fights with my husband and being completly unreasonable. I took 15mg of Zoloft and it made me fell a little bit more normal. Has anyone had this experience with genaric Wellbutrin XL?
