I forgot what my doctor said about how to take my antibiotic UTI meds. I think I'm supposed to take 2 a day (every 12 hrs), along with Pheno..(azo). I took one on day #1 at 2:15pm and another one at 6:15pm. What should I do if I took the second dose too soon? ## Generally, you can't overdose on an antibiotic, unless you are allergic to it, or it has contraindications with other medications that you are taking. However, it is always best to double check with your doctor, or pharmacist. The FDA does warn that you may experience more side effects than usual, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and diarrhea. How are you doing? Did you experience any adverse effects?

So I'm not to good at swallowing pills and my doctor prescribed me amoxicillin for my double ear infection. I was wondering if when it says by mouth if it means I have to swallow it whole or if I can chew it up cause it doesn't say on the prescription. ## Hello, Connor! How are you? Unfortunately I took the first dose at 12:30-1pm so I'm confused on the time set up. Would it be 12:30, 8:30 and 4:30 am? The 4:30 am seems impossible to remember, then I would assume to just take the 8:30 then in the morning, do more breakfast lunch dinner type thing. Say I started antibiotics but then slept with my partner again - Did it just defeat the purpose for us both after taking the first pill.. ## If the doctor has instructed you to take one every 8 hours, then it is very important that you do so, even if it means setting an alarm to wake up and do it. For eradicating some bacteria, the antibiotics must be kept in your body at a constant level. And yes, if this involves some type of STI, you should not engage each other, until it has been cleared up in both of you. The FDA...

I just got the pills but I've been forgetting to take them like when I first got them I took it at 12pm and fell asleep woke up and took it at 2am then at 2pm then I fell asleep and just took one at 7:20 and I'm gonna tap one at 7:20 tonight will it still be effective? ## What medication are you asking about? I am sorry, but I can't really provide an answer, without knowing this additional information, since some medications do require precise dosing, in order to be effective, but not all. For instance, while an antibiotic says to take it every 12 hours, and that would be ideal, you also don't have to set your alarm to wake up and take it, it can wait a few hours, until you wake up. On the other hand, oral contraceptives are a medication that you have to be as precise ab...

what does p eye mean? this is an antibiotic ## I have never seen that on a prescription before. Was it for some type of infection related to the eye? It's possible that it was just meant to refer to why you are supposed to take it, some doctors do that, when they write prescriptions. It is also possible that your doctor wrote something else and the pharmacy had trouble reading it and thought that's what it said. Which antibiotic are you taking?

i have what i believe to be cellulitus in my calf area and my foot is enlarged ptetty good. ive had this before but not as bad what antibiotic is most used on this infection and the dosage? ## Hello, Mike! How are you? It really depends on which bacteria has caused the infection. For instance, if it is due to MRSA, then the preferred antibiotic would be Bactrim, usually one double strength tablet, every 12 hours for anywhere from 10 to 14 days. However, it is not an appropriate antibiotic for all types of bacteria. Thus, it would be best to have the infection cultured by your doctor to discover the best treatment. The FDA lists typical antibiotic side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

my doctor has told me to take two of the sulfamethoxazole-tmp twice a day, and I'm really feeling sick since I've taken the second one, is this not an awful high dosage to be taken. ## The dose of Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim largely depends on the type of infection you have and how severe it is. However, these pills you have marked "IP 272" are regarded as "double-strength tablets". For most infections, I found that the dosing schedule was one double strength tablet (800mg/160mg) every 12 hours for roughly 7-10 days; so if you feel like you're taking too much, I would suggest contacting your doctor about this concern. Some of these antibiotics have very harsh side effects and I don't blame anyone for wanting get off of them as soon as possible. ## I a...

How are you? According to the FDA, roughly every 12 hours, though it doesn't have to be exactly precise. For instance, if you take one at 8pm and then don't wake up until 8:30am or 9am, things will still be fine to take the next dose. Side effects for this antibiotic are also listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. it has gg o n the left side an n7 on the right side. it,s a white pill.amox/k clav875 125tabsandoz for tooth infection ## To answer your question, yes, you can take these pills for a tooth infection. Amoxicillin is included in the list of popularly prescribed antibiotics for tooth infections. Its effectiveness however, depends on how far the tooth infection has spread; and if required, combination therapy is followed. The effectiveness of amoxicillin for addressing tooth infection also largely depends upon taking it in correct dosage, which is decided by the concerned doctor. A common dosing method for a tooth infection is taking one pill 3 times a day, (i.e., after every 8 hours) for 10 days. I would recommend checking with your doctor to verify what might be best for you though. I hop...

can my dog take doxycyclLXHF ## To answer your question, yes, Doxycycline (for dogs) is a broad spectrum antibiotic that kills different types of bacterial infections in pets. It’s a prescription medication that’s commonly administered to dogs suffering from Lyme disease and Chlamydia. In addition to this, vets often prescribe doxycycline to treat urinary tract infections and certain medical conditions like the Rocky Mountain spotted fever. As far as dosing goes, the guidelines state that dogs should be given 2mg to 5mg of the drug, per pound of body weight every 12 hours or 24 hours. However the dosage and duration of treatment depend upon the type of infection your dog is suffering from. And although it isn’t necessary to give t...

I have been on sulfameth 800mg for 5 days.. It doesn't seem like it's helping this staph infection.. I'm taking 2 a day every 12hrs. I'm prescribed for 10 days.. Should I be concerned that I haven't seen results? Should I stop use? Or is this normal? ## The general rule for antibiotics is that if they are working, you should not see any working after taking them for a full 24 hours, and you should start to see improvement after taking it for a full 3 days. At this point, if nothing has changed, you might need to see your doctor and try a different medication. The FDA lists the typical antibiotic side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. How are you doing? Has there been any change?
