How long does ER 60 mg morphine give pain relief per dose? ## Hi, Jane! How are you? These are designed to slowly release the medication over a period of 12 hours, so they are normally prescribed to be taken twice daily. However, some people do find that they don't get as much pain relief after about 10 hours, or so. Learn more MS Contin details here. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## how often should you take 60mg morphine tablets? Its been at least eleven hours so is it OK to take another one? ## I take 1 60mg @ 5am and again at 4-5pm of Morphine Sulfate ER. They don't last 12 hrs for me and I also take Norco. 10/325 1-2 every 7hrs. Those ar... ...

morphine sulphate er and ir vrs hydrocodone with fentanyl patch
10 Replies RSS
for 3 years my dr. was prescribing me three 60mg morphine sulphate er and four 30mg ms ir daily. when it became impossible to get MS in Florida, he switched me to Fentanyl patch 12MCG/HR every 3 days and 7.5mg-200 hydrocordone , 1 every 8 hours. the pain was unbearable and I felt terrible. cold sweats, shakes, could'nt think straight. when I asked him to increase dosage, he increased the patch to 25 MCG, but said there was more MS in the 7.5-200 hydrocodone than the 30mg tabs of ms. do you agree? Also, how does the patch equate to the Three 60MG MS er I was taking daily? Prior to this Dr.,after I moved 200 miles away,, my orthopedic surgeon was prescribing me Oxycontin, or oxycodone. Methadone withdrawal symptoms when switching from Methadone to Opana ER
33 Replies RSS
I am a 55 year old man, and I have been going to a Pain Management facility for lower back pain and now even chronic Osteoarthritic shoulder pain, and have been taking 60mg of Methadone every day (10mg tablets x 2 x 3 times a day -- morning, noon & night) for the past three years. Although I've been doing well on that regimen, perhaps out of more of a psychological concern over the known "qt" (heart) effects of the drug (rather than any "real" ones), I decided to ask my doctor if I could try Opana ER (20mg every 12 hours), which I had taken once before, for a short time, at another Pain Management facility, with great success. All I'm wondering are what the withdrawal effects might be (if any) of stopping the Methadone (60mg) on a Monday, and starting the Opa... ...

so ive been on Vyvnse for 2 months now, started at 30mg then to 50mg, then 60mg basically after 3 weksof each, 60 mg was working perfect, but I still had no patience to read longer then a few sentences. but I lied everything else it fixed. I went from sleeping 14 hours to 5 hours, can look people in the eye, remember lectures, be confident around people etc. but after a month, I thnk I got greedy, I thought 70 mg would fix my patience fr reading and fix the feeling of anxiety that people thought I was weird or awkward, it seems the more energy I gave, the better my mind can focus, the better I can speak, but 70mg after 3 days is making me a repeating record and I lfeel a crash after 5 hours, tired etc, 60 mg didnt do this and I was sleeping less. 70 mg Im sleeping 13 hours or s these pa... ...

is this the same 2 30mg oxycodone ir and 60 oxycontin er
3 Replies RSS
Can someone tell me if Someone takes 2-30 mg Oxycodone IR and 60mg Oxycontin ER are they same and dispensed the same into your body if you would cut the ER in half? My friend takes both and she is on mail order. They have made a mix up in her pills so now she will run out of the 30 mg tablets her doctor is 2 hours away and she has to have a driver take her there and that would be me and I am sorry I really do not have the time this week to do it. So I was wondering if she is used to these amounts and trust me she has been in chronic pain her entire life since a child what would be the difference. I read everyone saying if you cut the oxycontin in half it releases immediately. That is the same thing the 30 mg oxycodone do, right? ## Hello, Diana! How are you? No, they are not the same. tablet to stop period bleeding tabs600mg white not red
3 Replies RSS
Hi I'm 19 yrs old and just started my period today. I heard that taking 800mg of ibuprofen every 6 hours can temporarily stop the bleeding. My question is, does it work for any kind of ibuprofen or just the red ones? I have white 600mg tablets. Can I use those and they will work just as effectively? ## Hi Lydia, Based on my research, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (such as Ibuprofen or naproxen) may help reduce menstrual bleeding by decreasing the production of substances called prostaglandins. I haven't read anything about certain colored tablets having a greater effect than others in this regard, so I'm thinking that is just something which can only be determined through trial and error. Cramp bark is also a natural alternative touted for it's use in alleviating... ...

This happened within a matter of 2 hours. I called the doc in the morning as I was down to 2 oxyxodone pills of an rx of 60 filled 4/7/11. I only take when ibuprofen isn't working and then I still try to take ibuprofen to the point I'm taking 2 bottles of 160 tabs every 5 WEEKS! I told my doc about the ibuprofen and said I'm afraid my liver or kidneys are damaged or soon will be. She suggested the oxycodone for days when the pain has me stuck in bed and I followed those instructions. I do not get any other pain meds from any other doctor period! Ms Contin 15mger

These dont seem to work can you take every 8hrs instead of 12hrs ## Hi Mike, It sounds to me like the dosage may not be strong enough for you; but to answer your question, the usual adult dose for pain is 5 to 30 mg every 3 to 4 hours as needed (when taking it Orally, Sublingual, or Buccal). The dosing indications for MS Contin (Morphine Oral) also state that "extended-release" tablet dosages range from 10 mg to 600 mg daily, given in equally divided doses every 8 to 12 hours or given as one dose every 24 hours. So depending on whether or not your tablets are extended-release, you should have some flexibility with the hours. I hope this helps! ## They are extend release ## If anyone is looking for a "buzz" with MS Contin, you are very unlikely to get it. These pills are ... ...

I have 30 individual doses of this med that my son was receiving via picc line at home. I have all the supplies as well. Wondered if i could donate them to someone in need or a clinic?? Just curious what one dose does cost? ## My insurance would not cover any of the costs and my doctor told me that zyvox will attack a lot of the germs that most antibiotics wouldn't, he went on to say that if there was any way I could afford the cost to do it because he felt this would save my foot, I borrowed the money and it cost me 98.00 per 600mg tablet and I was perscribed 28 tablets 1 every 12 hours for 14 days; so without taxes it cost me around 2750.00. I think it was closer to 2800.00 with taxes ## I had the same issue with my foot. But my doctor knew nothing about this drug. I did my own se... ...

My tolerance is of course increasing to this prescription and I can not get a new stronger does from my Doctor as this med facility has strong rules against it. So since this does wears off after 6 - 8 hours can't I basically just increase to 3X/day by taking it every 8 hours instead? Here's a strange twist to my story: My Dr. said no to an increase in dosage and referred me to an outside pain specialist for my pain meds BUT! I also noticed that for the last two months my monthly prescription labeled for 60 tabs actually has about a weeks worth of extra oxy's. I know I'm not missing any doses. Any opinions? ## Hello, B Hughes! How are you? If you up your dosage on your own, you're going to run out early, which could end up with your doctor flagging you as an abuser/a... ...

Oxycodone 10 hcl versus Oxycontin 10 mg
3 Replies RSS
I have been prescribed and taking oxycodone 10 hcl, 1-2 tablets every 6 hours. Today saw my spine surgeon (nurse practitioner) to get a refill prescription and what I was given was oxycontin 10 mg extended release, the prescription says to take 1-2 tablets every 6 hours. Isn't this too much from what I have been taking? My pain level has been maintained on the oxycodone 10 hcl every 6 hours along with tramadol 50 mg every 6 hours and neurontin 600 mg 4 times a day. ## No, it's still the same dosage of the relevant medication, because Oxycontin also contains Oxycodone. The different, however, is that what you were taking was the regular release formulation and the Oxycontin is the time released formulation. It's the time interval that could be problematic, because the Oxycont... ...

Well unfortunately I really messed up and started taking OC twice a day 12 hours a part. I worked my way up to taking 40-60 mg in the morning and 80 mgs at night. i originally started using after severe depression and anxiety and wanting to feel better to fill an emotional void left by a really bad year in my life which led me to start using. No BS here, I wanted to feel better and unfortunately started using and am on week 14 of my addiction. I have had enough though and am just writing to share my story and experience and will continue to write during my detox. I feel ashamed, nervous, scared, and angry that I began using. The maximum 24 hour dose is 360 mg." "Adult doses of codeine higher than 60 mg fail to give commensurate relief of pain and are associated with an appreciably increased incidence of undesirable side effects." I've been on Fentanyl 25mcg every 48 hours for 3 1/2 years and want taper off. I'm finding it hard to stretch them to 72 hours, only made it to 60 hours. Also take 4-5 Norco 10/325. I'm wondering if it's possible to trim my Mylan patches to 2/3-3/4 in size to start tapering. I'm thinking of asking my pain management Dr to reduce dose to 12.5 at next appt in 2 weeks but want to start tapering ASAP. ## Hello, John! How are you? No, it is not safe to cut the patches to try and do that. I have a prescription for hydrocodone 'take one every 8 hours as needed' qty 60. Got them to take instead of tramadol when I'm in a lot of pain. So, I'm sure I'll run out, as I'm already getting low, before the monthly refill of all my meds. Since this is only a qty of 60, how soon can I get it refilled, as the dr. told me to try that first but if they wouldn't let me, he'd write a new script. ## Since this is a controlled substance, due to the Hydrocodone in it, which is a narcotic, the pharmacy can't legally fill it for you, until it is actually due for a refill.
