why would the endocrinologist change the dosage from 137 mg to 125 mg Synthroid ## Hi Ruth, Not to off-put your question, but you asked what a higher dose was, and 137 is obviously a higher number than 125, so i don't quite see what you're getting at with that? As to your other question regarding why the endocrinologist changed your dose, he/she certainly has a good reason for doing so and it's honestly anyone's guess until you ask the endocrinologist personally why they made that decision, for there are several possible reasons; including but not limited to: a judgement call based on your thyroid levels; lowering your risk of certain possible side effects; trying to slow-taper you off; etc.... but how would you really know until you asked them personally? I've been taking synrhroid 125 for up to 5 years. Lately I've had a lifttle bit of coughing. Due to this I'm taking Tylenol for Coughing. I've been feeling my tongue and lips numb. Is this normal? ## Tylenol for Cough contains Acetaminophen and Dextromethorphan. The normal side effects can include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and stomach irritation. Synthroid contains the active ingredient Levothyroxine. Common side effects may include: nausea, dry mouth, weight gain and appetite changes. There are no interactions listed for using them together and no, what you are experiencing is not normal. Have you contacted your doctor about it, yet? It could signify a serious health issue, so you do need to get to the root of the problem.

I had thyroid taken out in May of this year. Started taing generic version of synthroid-75mcg. I had no problems. Went in July to endo doc and tsh levels were 23 so she raised to 100mcg. Has my RAi-100miC-with no problems in mid July. Started getting chapped lips end of August. Endo doc attributed to not at correct TSH levels. Levels still high at 6 so medicine raised to 125mcg. I had 100mcg left so for 3 weeks took M-F 100mcg x 1 and then Sat and Sun took 100mcg x 2. Still having issues w lips so tried zinc oxide and hydrocortisone w some success. Went off medicine for 4 days and lips went back to normal. So seems like allergic reaction. Since still having problems tried generic non dye pill and that did not work. I then did round of 6 day pack of prednisone and was on name brand Tiros...

I have been on the same dose of synthroid for the last 14 years 200mcg. I previously had Graves many years ago, had radiation to stop the goiter hence the high dose of the medication. I am levels are checked routinely and the last 2 tests show my thyroids is alittle overactive so my dose was lowered. I had a total hysterectomy 2 years ago. What could have caused the change? ## It might just be due to the changes that have occurred in your body as time has passed. Our bodies do change regularly and sometimes a medication has to be changed, or the dosage adjusted. Ive been on patches 12 months plus Dilaudid4mg due to really bad painful lower back problems. I also take 125 mg Synthriod for my Thyriods. Ive lost 25 lbs since on these meds . my new dr changed my Synthroid from 125 down to 112 and I am now fatigued , swollen feet, light headedness and wt gain. Is this the reason? Can it cause heart failure? ## Hello, Nancy! How are you? Why did your new doctor change it? Did they check your levels first? Those can be signs of your thyroid levels being out of whack. As to the heart failure, no, I've not heard of it being known to cause that. Do you have a cardiac condition?

I also have been on synthroid for 12 yrs. and still am not on a reg. dose--dr.change me reg.. I was put on 350mg. and then brought down to what I am now at 125mg. seems to be ok. I hate that with any meds. I never can get regulated.. It is one big roller coaster ride with my health and sanity as the booby prize.

I have taken eltroxin for many years. In May of 2010, my doctor changed my meds to synthroid. since early June, I have experienced vision problems with blurring,double vision,broken lines,etc. One optometrist i saw said he thought it was systemic and noted that thyroid problems are notorious for causing vision problems. i had my blood work done and numbers were realy high(75) so my doctor increased the synthroid meds to .125mg . My drug store has switched my thyroid manufacturer from Mylan to Lanne. Since taking the same dosage of 88 mcg, my blood pressure has gone up considerably and I don't normally have high blood pressure. I have some of the older ones and have taken them for the last 3 days and my bp is back to normal. Is this just a coincidence or should I talk to the drug store? I also feel jittery in the neck area. Which is a higher dose .125 or .137mg of synthroid. Is .125mg doseage higher than .137 or lower

I believe that the prescribed medication is to high. Symptoms such as ataxia, (balance problems), slurred speech. This onset of symptoms was sudden and I've undergone many tests with no cause.
