What does the 'pre' mean. What does gaba do? The side effects I have read seem quite bad. Does it really inhibit new synapses etc. in older brains. thank you. ## Hello, Topcat! How are you? You're actually misunderstanding the name, it's really one word, Pregabalin. The U.S. FDA classifies it as an anticonvulsant that has also been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. No, it is not reported to inhibit new synapses. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight gain. Has it been prescribed for you?

Does anyone here have chronic muscle ache/pain, especially in legs? And have taken Lyrica for that pain? ## Lyrica will only help with some types of nerve pain. It is an anticonvulsant that works on the synapses and neural pathways in the brain. Thus, it really depends on what is causing such pain. If it is due to some muscular condition and not nerve damage, then it may not help. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, mood swings and weight gain. Did your doctor prescribe this? ## Yes, was given samples to try but had to stop using b/c of side effects, i.e. dizzy, nerves. ## Yes

If lyrica is affecting nerve pain and maybe even destroying the nerves slowly what is it doing to our brains? ## Hello, Mary! How are you? It doesn't destroy nerves. Where did you hear that? It works by affecting the synapses in the brain that respond to pain signals, it prevents them from reacting and overreacting to stimuli. It is actually an anticonvulsant that was later found to help with mood disorders and nerve pain. Its side effects may include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight changes. Are there any other questions or concerns?

Is morphine known to have a speedy effect on some people? ## From my records Morphine does not have the same effect as speed. Morphine acts directly on the central nervous system (CNS) to relieve pain, particularly at the synapses of the nucleus accumbens. To learn more click on the link below... Do you have any more questions or information to add? Please post back if you do. ## I find the same thing. If I have morphine I'm up & about cleaning etc & not sleeping (unless i have too much...). It might be worth mentioning here how addictive morph is- be careful bc this could be a sign that you are getting addicted! ## what you may term speedy, is not, its the effect that the medication suppose to bring you back to your old self before there was pain, there s are instances wher...

I'm suffering from severe spinal cord injury 15 years ago been through a lot of pain regiments considering taking lyrica not sure what it's like her anything would just like to know what people think if they've got the same problem I do with her back thanks Steve ## Hello, Steve! How are you? I am very sorry about your injury! Lyrica is actually an anticonvulsant that can help with some types of never pain, due to the way it acts on the synapses in the brain. Thus, it doesn't work like a traditional analgesic, you will not get immediate relief, you have to take it for about 4 weeks, before you'll know whether or not it will work to help you. Its side effects may include nausea, dizziness, mood swings and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

In my research on Chlorthalidone, I have come upon information that may have a drastic impact on the use of this type of drug. Its action on the NMDA synaptic receptors could be the cause of many of the most damaging degenerative diseases. Parkinson, Alzheimer, Obesity, ALS, Tinnitus, Meniere's, Eplipsy, Huntington's and several others. The action is the reduction of fluids in the brain tissue increases the glutamate concentrations which have a drastic effect on the glutamate activated synapse. It opens the synapse for Sodium which lowers the voltage and allows Ca+ to attach and results in the death of the nerve. It also creates a whole chain of other similar effects with other neurotransmitters. Taken in massive doses it can have devastating effects. ## If you feel that you hav...

i need to know if the 50 pounds i gained while i was on methadone will come off now that i have switched to suboxone ## yes !!!! ## no ## I gained that much on methadone also. I am switchin over...thanx ## Seriously that's what you care about? ## Withdraw sumptoms mean you're there (your synapses are clear below normal saturation, thus why you feel "like crap)...go for it.
