If the swelling is that bad, then your doctor should switch you to a different medication. There are quite a few others available that you can try that may not cause you such a side effect. I'd suggest asking him about trying something different. Is there anything else I can help with?

Thanks ## Many medications can cause edema as a side effect, but I can't be more specific, without knowing which medications you are using, since there are quite a few available. I have ADD and take Amphetamine Salts. Lately my feet and ankles have been badly swollen. Is this caused from the Amphetamine Salts? Should I be worried if my feet and ankles are swelling from using amphetamine salts? What is my alternative in medication for ADD if the Amphetamine Salts is causing the swelling? ## It would be best to consult your doctor. In and of itself, Adderall doesn't cause edema, but it can cause elevated blood pressure and elevated heart rate, which can cause edema and, if that is the case, it can be dangerous and needs to be treated. I started taking 10 mg of Norvasc 4 days ago and my feet & ankles were swollen to capacity. They almost hurt and they felt very hot. It was given to me for high blood pressure. ## This is one of the bad side effects of the drug. I've been taking Norvasc for almost 6 years now. It had the same effect on me and I can only take 5 mg. a day without the swelling. I have also developed a rash on my lower legs as well and was told by a dermatologist that it could be from the medicine. I take 3 drugs to try and control my BP but I have yet to find anything that controls things. Has anyone else experienced this? I have stopped meds for 4 days and the swelling has not gone down - I am getting worried that this may be permanent. Since supplementing Vitamin D for deficiency my feet ankles have been swollen and puffy. Has anyone else experienced this? ## How much are you taking, and when is the last time your levels were checked? Vitamin D has been known to cause toxicity, if someone takes too much, or if their levels rise too high due to certain illnesses. Toxicity issues can include kidney problems, altered mental state, high blood pressure, and other problems. The edema that you're experiencing is sometimes a symptom of high blood pressure. It can also cause interactions with some other medications, and supplements. Are you taking anything else regularly? Ref: MayoClinic Vitamin D ## Are you taking vitamin K with it? You need the K as well.

After nearly 5 years of trying to get docs to take my complaints seriously, I was finally diagnosed with Hashimoto's a couple of months ago. About 3 months prior to that, they started me on Synthroid. At follow-up, my TSH levels had not improved so I was switched to Levoxyl. A couple weeks after starting it, I began experiencing tingling across my forehead and scalp. A pins and needles sort of feeling. Several weeks later the tingling is ongoing, though it waxes and wanes in severity. Then a couple weeks ago my feet started to swell. I was noticing my shoes felt tight and was getting sores on my toes from rubbing. I made no changes to my daily routine or diet that would explain this swelling. My ankles don't really look swollen-just my feet and it's gotten quite uncomfortabl...

I just started taking Xarelto a week ago. My feet and legs are swollen. What do I do? ## Hello, Shane! How are you? As reported by the FDA, that can be a side effect of this medication, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. It would be best to have it checked out by your doctor to be safe. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hello, the doc told me it was the oppressor that was causing the swelling. I had been on a constant IV drop for nearly a week as well. Also during that time I had terrific dry mouth and drank constantly. I could hardly move. I think all these factors led to the swelling rather than xarelto. These medications were all new to me. ## Hello, the doc told me it was the lopressor that was causing the swel...

I had been taking synthroid for 4 months at 50mg a day but about 2 weeks ago I stopped taking it because my insurance expired and I am unable to pay for the doctors visit or prescription. About a week and half ago my feet and ankles started swelling and have now swollen to the point where the skin is so tight and they are so big I can't get my shoes on and can hardly walk. Is this caused by not taking my synthroid? ## Hello, Michelle! How are you doing? Has there been any change? If your thyroid issue is going out of control, it is possible that it is what's causing the edema, according to the NIH. Stopping the medication abruptly could also have caused a rebound effect, which threat your thyroid function off even more than usual and made the situation even worse. Such edema, ho...
