Switching From Subutex To Suboxone

I have currently been on subutex for a little over 3 years at first it was mainly due to the price difference between the subutex And subixone then I ended up pregnant and gave birth in July and in between that time the laws changed and my Dr isn't allowed to prescribe subutex unless your pregnant but I had gotten a extra 6months due to breast feeding and at my last appointment he said he had no choice? My first issue is I'm still breast feeding so what does this mean for my daughter? Secondly I have been perfectly fine on subutex no slips at all! I was on Subutex for over a year and a half then I lost my doctor. When I found out I was pregnant he put me back on subutex. After I had my daughter he took me off subutex and put me on suboxone. Within a couple hours of the first dose my skin became red and blotchy. I couldn't stop scratching at myself so he prescribed Benadryl for an allergic reaction... I continued to take them for a month and a half.. I started getting horrible migraines and nausea, and now within an hour hour and a half of taking the pill I'll throw up.... Every time. I have spoken with my doctor about these symptoms..He tells me its not physically possible to be allergic to Suboxone and that if I'm allergic to it then I must be allergic to Subutex as well. But I never had these issues with the Subutex...

I have been on generic Subutex for about 3 years. Prior to that I was on Methadone then switched to Suboxone. At 1st I took the Methadone and Suboxone for MAT, as I used to abuse alcohol and drugs. I've been clean from all illicit drugs and alcohol for 9 years. I have severe chronic back pain, prior back surgery, now defective due to post surgery trauma. My doctor is going to switch me to Zubsol, it's the only thing my insurance will cover. Will Zubsol still help with the chronic pain. I can't and don't want to take any if the other narcotics. I ran out of subutex last night - can I take suboxone today? ## Hi Ash, Based on my research, there are no drug interactions listed between Subutex and Suboxone. So with that being said, I wouldn't anticipate having any problems when switching between one or the other. Also, because Subutex contains the same active ingredient "Buprenorphine", taking the two meds together or within a short a time frame of one another would also be similar to just having an higher dose of Suboxone. Subutex carries the risk of causing the same side effects as Methadone and other opiate narcotics. The active ingredient in it is Buprenorphine, so it can also be habit forming and cause dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, depression and constipation. The difference is that is isn't known to cause the withdrawals that are as severe as those of Methadone, nor to cause cravings. So, unlike Methadone treatment, where people usually end up on a lifetime maintenance dose of it, those who take Subutex or Suboxone usually end up eventually becoming entirely drug free. Are there any other questions or concerns?

I just got switched from subutex to suboxone the teva white round ones that day 93 on One side and 5721 on the other side. I had trouble swallowing so went to a gastronolgist and he said i had some stomach erosion ive been on them for 2 years is it causing the stomach erosion and if so would it help to take the subutex instead ## Don,t know if it erodes the stomach but some people have complained of stomach ache while taking them. You can spit out the saliva after the sub has disolved. Not sure if that would make any differance in your case. Some people have switched to subutex claiming the naloxone bothers there stomach. Most sub drs "at least around here" won,t prescribe subutex unless your pregnant. Ask your sub dr what he thinks about switching.

I am currently on Suboxon and have been for over a year now. It is getting too expensive for me. My doctor told me she could put me on Subutex. Other than the opiate blocker, what is the difference? How different will it make me feel? Will I go through any withdrawls from Suboxone? Does Subutex still give you that "feel good feeling"? ## There really shouldn't be any other difference, as long as she gives you an equivalent dosage, because the main active ingredient is still the same, Buprenorphine. I am currently taking subutex cause I am allergic to something in suboxone. My doctor just asked me if I wanted to try something called subsal. Its new and I guess its a mint flavor tablet.... What is it ## Hi leah, Sorry to hear about your allergy to Suboxone. However, I haven't been able to find any specific details on any medications by the name of Subsal. Did your doctor mention anything else about what it's supposed to be used for? If the Subutex is working well as an alternative option, then in my honest opinion it may be best to stick with what you already know, since different brands can still effect each person differently. I'v been on Suboxone Film,8mg,for a year. Before switching to film,I was taking subutex tablets,8 mg, 3 years.Every time i'v tapered down to quit, I'v failed. I cant handle the endless hell of w/d symptoms. The last time I tapered off, 4 weeks later I was still sick as hell. So I deciced long-term maintenance was best. I didnt plan on getting pregnant, but now that i am, i need to take care of my body. My finance has been attending a methadone clinic for about a month now. He is up to 95 ml of liquid methadone. This morning he missed his dosage and in fear of getting withdrawal he took a subutex. He is now getting insanely cold then hot then cold again. His legs are hurting him insanely bad. Should I be worried? Can someone please tell me what's going on? I am not allergic to suboxone. However they give me headaches and prices are outrageous! I was tricked into switching from subutex to trying these new Zubsolv's which has made my life hell, literally. I am not an abuser. I have been struggling with treatment itself in terms of finding a doctor who will prescribe what helps "Subutex" and who will not take me off it in a month or two and try experimenting my life with suboxone, subzolv and whatever else. I just recently switched from 70 mg of methadone to suboxone. The Dr told me to wait 3 days. The clinic insisted that I waited to go down to 30 mg before switching to subutex so it scared the crap out of me. So on the third day I took a 1 mg strip of sub and it put me into total withdrawal. It was horrible, I couldn't understand why he didn't prescribe me subutex so it didn't have the opiate blocker. I have hep-c. I'm on methadone, but am switching to suboxone or subutex. I hear that naloxone is bad for your liver. Is this true and should I tell the Dr this? ## My liver is fatty and I have been an opium addict since 2010.
