I'm having surgery for knee replacement and this is the first time I've had surgery and general anaesthetic while on methadone. You really need to do that, immediately, otherwise you could be putting your own life at risk. They will still treat your pain, don't be worried that won't. Is there a generic or alternative to methadone 5 mg? What options do I have for motin 800 as I had heart surgery and am now on Lasix and warfin and can no longer take motrin? The FDA does warn that they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. As to a replacement for the Motrin, you may be able to take a steroid, but only your doctor can decide what's safe for you. How long ago did you have the surgery? I stupidly did meth for three days, and am having bloodwork done in eight days for knee surgery. do they test for drugs, and if they do find traces, will they still do surgery? will all traces be gone by then? ## Hi mary, Based on my own experience I don't think you should have anything to worry about when it comes to getting preoperative blood work done. When I went through nose surgery they had me do blood work prior to the appointment and I had a good percentage of marijuana in my system at the time (before it was legalized). After getting my results back, I found that they don't seem to look for drugs, but rather your white blood cell count and other things of that nature. I hope this helps to put your mind at ease! :)

I've taken methamphetamine for 23 years. I'm scheduled for a hernia repair surgery. Went in for pre op testing and had to do lab work. Got a call the next day. Was told that lab came back positive for methamphetamine. They told me that on the day of surgery if positive surgery will be canceled. Can they do that? ## Hmmmmm. I have been on the methadone program for 12 years on 80 to 90 mil a day. Im Going under anesthesia for Eye Surgery On Thursday And by that time i would have 62 hours clean off of 10mg of methadone and Wanted To Know What would happen if I didn't inform my doctor? ## Trust me, tell your doctor. Regardless of the time clean, which will still be very short by the way, there could be some possible issues with certain anesthetics or other medications used before, during and after the surgery. I am to have back surgery and can't take oral pain meds. What will doctors give me that can be administered intravenously? I have a friend who is an RN that will administer it to me. I got off my subs for a month and went back to full antagonists thinking I was gonna have gall bladder surgery. I can't take the opiates anymore so I went back to my subs two days ago after being on methadone for about two weeks. I've been on methadone due to cp for the last 9 years, presently taking 120mg. daily. My current pm has adopted a new "NO METHADONE" policy and he will be weaning me off while placing me on some other medication. the problem is i've been on just about every other pain med.I'm 55 years old and don't play games i never failed a ua or refused any procedures. He said the office is no longer going to assume the responsibility of prescribing the methadone. Does any one know of a doctor in the Floyd area of Va. Out of MEDS. Take Opana ER 10 an Opana IR 10 milligrams both only 2 times a day but lots of problems, need surgery but can't. I successfully weaned myself off of a 8 year opioid addiction. The last drug I was on was Methadone 30mg a day for about a year but I took every medication for pain at one point or another. Overdosing 3 in the process. I had major spine surgery in October 2016 to straighten my spine and fused 6 discs. I went from 30 mg a day to 10mg very fast, stayed there a month or so then I went to 5mg/day. Stayed there for a few weeks and went to 2.5mg (My PM Dr. gave me a prescription for 5mg tabs that are scored). A few weeks later I was down to 1.25mg. I did that for 2 weeks then I quit one night. No withdrawals! I can feel every screw in my back but I don't care because I am free of addiction.

I had to have a complete hysterectomy at the age if 19 due to cancer. I was put on estrogen 2mg. I was on it for years and then they found a mass in both breast so I had to have surgery and have them removed. It wwasn't cancer. They rrefused to put me back on hormone replacement so for five years things just kept getting worse. I went to a new ob/gyn and he prescribed me the estrogen/methyl 1.25/2.5. The first bottle i got was name brand and had no issues.
