I would like to take Excedrin for a headache to today. Can I take w the above drug. If not, what could I take? ## Hello, Jonsey! How are you? Actually, the FDA cautions against combining the Aspirin in the Excedrin with this antibiotic, because they can increase the efficacy of each other, which may be dangerous, in some cases, due to the fact that they could reach toxic overdose levels. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, and stomach irritation. What has your doctor advised?

Hey I have a boil on the left side of my buttocks and its almost ready to burst can I take this pill now while its almost there?. The pill is pretty big and white I'm 23 it kind of scared me. Should I take half of it first or just the whole thing? How long do I take these pills? ## You should only take it, if your doctor has directed you to do so, if not, then it may not be the right medication to treat whatever has caused this issue, or you may not have enough of it to fully eradicate the infectious bacteria, which creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Has the boil been cultured?

Does this thin blood like aspirin, Ibuprofen? Is it safe to take this prior to surgery to knock a sinus infection? ## Sulfamethoxazole Tmp Ds itself is not a blood thinner, although it does have a warning label stating it's interaction with other blood thinners. As far as pre-operative doses go, this is probably something that should be discussed with the surgeon, since every surgeon has their own unique pre and post operative instructions. Odds are it is probably fine, as it is an antibiotic and doesn't thin blood; but just to be sure I would double check with his personal instructions. I was put on this antibiotic because an infection was found in my blood work . What kind of infections can be found in blood work to have this prescribed to me plz help me I am worried. ## It's really more of a broad antibiotic that can be effective at treating various types of infections, so they may not even be certain of the specific infection and just prescribed this to try to eradicate it, regardless of the type and origin. In most cases, what happens is that while testing your blood in the lab, they discover that your white cell count is elevated and, if the elevation isn't severe enough to be a cause for alarm, the most common cause is an infection somewhere in your body. The white cells are actually your disease fighters. That's why I said that your doctor may not ev...

I had a pillar cyst removed from the back of my head and the wound got infected, so the doctor prescribed this med to clear it up. Wow! I have never had an allergic reaction to anything in my life, but this drug knocked me for a loop. I thought I had the stomach flu one day--kept trying to throw up, diarrhea, stiff neck, headache, feverish, affected my vision. I slept the entire day. I stopped taking the med because my stomach wouldn't tolerate anything. The next day, I started to feel better, so started back on the med and the symptoms came back with a venegaence--. that's when I looked up the side effects and called the doctor. I got into the shower after that and noticed I had a horrible rash all over the upper part of my body. It's been almost 24 hours since I stopped ta...

I was prescribed this medication by my dermatologist for a skin disorder that he originally thought was pityrosporum folliculitis. Thanks in advance ## You said that's what he originally thought it was, so now what does he believe it to be? First of all, an infection is not the same as a disease. An infection can be cleared up with the use of the proper medications. A disease is a condition for which these is no cure. And second, just because she has been given an antibiotic, it doesn't mean that she has any type of venereal or sexually transmitted disease. Women can get infections from other things, such as yeast infections and, if it made her itch and she scratched, it could very wel...

can using Sulfamethoxazole Tmp Ds Tablet cause a black tongue? I can't find this as side effect for this medication online ## Yes, it could happen when you are taking this, or any other antibiotic.
