I was put on this antibiotic because an infection was found in my blood work . What kind of infections can be found in blood work to have this prescribed to me plz help me I am worried. ## It's really more of a broad antibiotic that can be effective at treating various types of infections, so they may not even be certain of the specific infection and just prescribed this to try to eradicate it, regardless of the type and origin. In most cases, what happens is that while testing your blood in the lab, they discover that your white cell count is elevated and, if the elevation isn't severe enough to be a cause for alarm, the most common cause is an infection somewhere in your body. The white cells are actually your disease fighters. That's why I said that your doctor may not ev...

Hey I have a boil on the left side of my buttocks and its almost ready to burst can I take this pill now while its almost there?. The pill is pretty big and white I'm 23 it kind of scared me. Should I take half of it first or just the whole thing? How long do I take these pills? ## You should only take it, if your doctor has directed you to do so, if not, then it may not be the right medication to treat whatever has caused this issue, or you may not have enough of it to fully eradicate the infectious bacteria, which creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Has the boil been cultured?

i have bought unrinary infection test strips and i used two of them. they both turned out positive for UTI ## Hi Nikki, Based on my research, the combination of sulfamethoxazole 800mg + trimethoprim 160mg can be used to treat urinary tract infections. The usual adult dose for a urinary tract infection is: 1 tablet orally every 12 hours for 10 to 14 days. However I'd still recommend discussing this with your doctor first, in order to confirm whether or not these instructions are also appropriate for your individual needs. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim Details I hope this info helps!
