Is sulfameth/trimethoprim Used For Tooth Infections
My mother has an abscess tooth and there is not enough left to pull. She does not have insurance so she can not pay to get it cut out. She is prescribed an antibiotic but cannot afford it. I had an infection a few weeks ago and still have some of my antibiotics left and i need to know if she can take them for this. ## Having 'some' of your antibiotics isn't going to be enough to give her a full course and destroy the infection. (You should have finished all of them, when you were taking them, actually.) In addition, even a full course of antibiotics is not going to solve the problem, with a tooth in that shape, she will just keep getting recurring infections and letting a dental infection like that go untreated can be very dangerous. What I'd recommend is looking for a d... ...

what is sulfameth trimeth ds 800 160
I have a abscess under my front bottom right tooth in the gums. I have no med insurance or money due to being out of work for last 5 yrs. Can someone take this for the infection. And how much would someone take? ## Hi, Dee! I'm sorry about the problem you're having, I've been there myself, but this is an issue that you really need to see a dentist and have treated. Many places in the U.S. have low-income dental clinics now that have emergency walk-in hours, so you may be able to get treatment free or at a significant discount and you really need to look into it. The reason I am saying this is because treating the infection will not help with the underlying reason for the infection. An abscess is usually caused by a deep cavity that has been left untreated for too long and de... ...

Can I Take Sulfamethoxazole Tmp Ds For Absess Tooth
i have an absess tooth and want to know if I can take Sulfamethoxazole-TMP-DS for this? ## An abcess tooth is tricky and may be dangerous depending upon the circumstances. Serious bone (i.e. osteomylitis) infections can develop if not cared for. Pen VK first, Amoxicillin is second and a third generation like Cefdinir would be an alternate choice with ampicillin allergies. Doxycycline is also used but the assessment should be made by either your dentist or your physician ## Can i take this sulfamethoxazole.tmp for a infection tooth ## Hi DeBorah, While Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim is used to treat various types of infections, tooth infections is not one that is listed under the medication guidelines. Skin Infection Antibiotics
Can smz/tmp tab treat mouth sores ## Hi Linda, This question has an interesting response because Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim can actually cause sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips, as a rare but possible side effect. If these mouth sores that you're describing are related to an infection, I can confirm that this medication is also used for treatment of both tooth and gum infections; although it does not specify if mouth sores are included in this category of treatment. If I were in your shoes I would consider trying clove essential oil for any dental or mouth related infections or sores. There are also a good number of natural home remedies which you can find online, if these are identified as canker sores. Please post back with any additional information s... ...

very bad toothache
I have an abscess tooth will this medication work for this or is it used for a abscess tooth? Sulfameth/trimethoprim 800/160 tabs ## Sulfamethoxazole with Trimethoprim is an antibiotic, it's a generic for Bactrim, so it may help with the infection that causes an abscess, but that will only be a temporary fix. When you have an abscessed tooth, there has to be an underlying cause, such as a cavity and this will not fix that, so you will still need to see a dentist, or it will just eventually return. And since this a sulfa based antibiotic, which you can learn more Bactrim usage details on here, it may cause some side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. It can also cause an allergic reaction in some people, which may manifest as a fever, hives and d... ...

Purbac d.s.
hi, can i take purbac d.s. for a tooth infection ## Purbac DS contains the active ingredients Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim, it is an antibiotic that's used to treat various types of infections. And it can be used for a dental infection, but the relevant question is: Was it prescribe to treat this dental infection? If not and you just have some left over from a prior prescription, you may run into problems if you don't have enough to completely eradicate the infection, because you run the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. On top of that, a dental infection does require proper follow up treatment from a dentist to fix the underlying issue that has caused it, or there is a high likelihood that it will just recur. Learn more Purbac details here. ...
