im break out if I take penicillin and I was wondering if sulfa trimeth ds 800-160 have any penicillin bc the doctor give me some and I was just wondering if it have any before I take any ## Hi ash, Sulfamethoxazole + trimethoprim does not contain any penicillin; nor is it derived from penicillin. It's actually a sulfonamide. So as long as you aren't also allergic to sulfa drugs, there shouldn't be any problems in my opinion. Additionally, my thoughts are that if the doctor was already aware of your allergy to penicillin, he/she probably wouldn't make the mistake of prescribing something that was related to it. I'm supposed to take one tablet twice daily until finishing treatment. I was given 23 pills for a urine infection and 15 minutes after taking it I got a rash all over. What should I do? I have the 800mg/160mg pills and want to cut them up to give to a dog with a UTI but I am unsure which mg dose I use to figure out how much to give to a 10# dog.
