I was prescribed sulfatrim DS for a minor bladder infection. Today is my second day taking it (fourth dose). I am now experiencing weakness, anxiety, minor headache, some itching of the skin, achy muscles and joints, pounding in chest, and just a general sense of illness. I'm wondering if these are severe side effects and if I should go to the ER right away or if it is ok and after I finish the antibiotics tomorrow these symptoms will go away? ## Hello, Emma! I was told to take 2 a day for 10 days. But i cant seem to handle taking them. Everytime I take it I throw up. Could it be that it is to strong? If so can i just take half a tablet or one a day instead of two? Wil it be as affective? ## Have you consulted your doctor? You may need to try a different medication. I am coumadin and have a terrible time with level fluctuations. I bleed very quickly. What is the interaction problem with sulfatrim? I'm on the sulfameth/trimethop medication right now for the treatment of mild ancne. Why should I avoid sunlight? My aunt was prescribed this medication and took it for five days until a rash developed in her lower extremities and also developed blisters in her mouth. She went back to consult her doctor of her reaction to the medication. Her doc immediatelly sent her to the hospital. They did a blood test and her plaque count is at 200 when normal is between 2000 and 4000. They said they have to keep her for at least 2 days. I know that internal bleeding is a huge concern. my tongue became scarlet in color taking it. ## Do you think it may be a rash of some sort? I've read that this medication can cause an allergic reaction in the form of a skin rash. It can also cause your tongue to be painful or swollen. I don't know how common it might be for your tongue to turn red, but I would definitely contact your doctor as soon as possible to assess what it might be and take appropriate action for getting it to go away. Can IP 272 be givn o treat athletes foot ## I honestly don't think you need medication to treat athletes foot; just proper home treatment and not walking around barefoot in gyms or other public places that can prolong the condition should be enough. Garlic is a great antifungal antiseptic. There are several ways you can use the garlic to treat athlete's foot. 1. Crush a couple cloves into small pieces and add a small amount of rubbing alcohol and water; soak foot for at least a half hour. 2. Crush several cloves and add to olive oil for 2-3 days. Then rub the mixture all over foot. (I found this to work the best because the olive oil keeps the skin moist) 3. Can this medicine also cause abdominal bloating, belching, gas? ## Side effects of Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim can include having an upset stomach, loss of appetite, diarrhea, and a long list of other undesirable symptoms.
