I HAVE BEEN TAKING METAXALONE, SUBSTITUTE FOR SKELAKIN, WHICH HELPS ME A LOT, HOWEVER IT IS QUITE EXPENSIVE. IS THERE ANY OTHER ALTERNATIVE MEDICATIONS EQUIVALENT TO METAXALONE? ## Hello, Victoria! How are you? What I would actually suggest doing is asking your pharmacist. They would be the best person to consult to find out which one would be cheaper for you. And yes, there are several others available that most likely are cheaper. Is this the only one you've tried?

what can I substitute for skelaxin. Medicare will not cover skelaxin and it is expensive ## I would like to continue taking skelaxin 800MG but now I am on medicare and they will not cover it. What are possible alternatives to this medication that may be covered by Medicare and will give me similar results. ## Skelaxin contains the active ingredient Metaxalone, it is a muscle relaxant. Have you tried seeing if they will cover the generic form? It is just called Metaxalone. There are also other options available in this same drug class, you can learn more about them here: Are there any other comments or questions? ## One medicare senior to another FYI - per the 2011 medicare drug list they approve cyclobenzaprine, and methocarbamol which per the link above are in the same family as Skelax...
