I take 100 to 200mg of Tramadol per day for pain. I'm having a hysterectomy and will not be able to take it for at least 2 weeks prior to the procedure. I will not be able to function at work without it. What can I take in its place? ## Hello, Cydque! How are you? You really need to check with your doctor on this. It would be remiss of anyone online to try to suggest a medication, without knowing the details of your medical history and etc. Good luck with the surgery! Is there anything else I can help with?

As we all now know they have moved Tramadol into a "Script Only" category and we are unable to purchase it online from ANY WHERE. My desperate problem is that I've taken Tramadol for over 10 yrs. now to help control my discomforts from Rheumatoid Arthritis and a Herniated Disc that is crushing my Sciatic Nerve. With NO INSURANCE I've been managing these issues with taking ONLY 2-3 50 mg. a day and have been able to continue to function WELL; not GREAT but I was among the living at least. My body never showed signs of side effects from taking Tramadol & I made sure to never abuse this gifted medicine. My fear is that the pain & depression that is to come once my body has been released from this medicine......I'll think to do the UNTHINKABLE! Is there not anoth...

They have taken my tramadol away. What can I take in its place for long term use. I have severe hip pain and without the tramadol I don't know what I'm going to do ## Hello, Katie! How are you? I'm sorry, but who has taken it away and why was it done? It's difficult to help, without knowing more specifics on the situation. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. There are many other analgesics available. What causes your hip pain?

RAN OUT OF HYDROCOAPAP TAB 10-325MG, BUT HAVE TRAMADOL 50 MG, CAN I SUBSTITUTE?? ## Have you consulted your doctor? The Hydrocodone is a potent narcotic and the Tramadol is very mild, though it is distantly related, so you aren't likely to get the same effective pain relief that you do from the Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen tablet. ## If you are worried about your withdrawls, then yes you can. The max dose in 24 hours is 400mg. That's 8 pills. I did the same thing and took 200mg in the morning and 150 at night just to be safe. It will hold back the withdrawls and you will sleep comfortably. However, because its not an opiate, they will not "F" you up. You will not get HIGH from these. They do however trap seratonin for longer periods of time in your brain which for most peop...

Is Tramadol considered to be a controlled medication? A narc med? ## I truly believe Tramadol is an addictive medication. I have been on this drug for 4 years. When i try to get off for a break it takes me about 10 days to feel norman again. i have chills, am ill tempered, I ache all over, i loose my appectite and I don't have the energy to move. My doctors have told me it was not addictive - but I beg to differ. ## I do agree with you i have been on it for 5-6 years and everytime i run out my body goes through some things feels like my body has spasma and cold and hot sweat what can i do? ## Same here, I go thru sweats & chills, ache all over&stressed & ill tempered,also.Dr.got me on celebrex now.But I heard on TV that it's caused Heart attacks & Strokes. Before t...

After many years of back and knee pain with no success on codeine and panadol for pain relief. I changed my dr and he has put me on tramadol 50 to 100 3 times daily, relief was amazing I feel a different person after one week. I do see many people trying to get off the drug on here. But if it was working for you with pain relief why not just stay on it. I am 77 years old so don’t think addiction would be a worry. What do others think .? ## The NIH does warn that it carries the risk of being habit forming, but not everyone is prone to developing an addiction to any given substance. The NIH also warns that this medication may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. (NDC code 0378-4152 for more information.) Is there anything else I can h...

Tramadol is not a narcotic but a very powerful pain medication without being a narcotic ## You are correct, it is not a narcotic nor a controlled substance; however, I have not found it to be a powerful pain killer. It has been abused a lot and is addictive but it did nothing for my pain, and is only recommended for mild to moderate pain. ## Does Ultram have the same effects as Percoset or Vicodin? ## I think I can add some valuable information to this post to better explain this issue… Tramadol was at one point classified as a narcotic opiate, but when it was found to not be as effective at treating pain, it was reclassified as a centrally acting analgesic. The way Tramadol came into being is because an attempt was made to take all the beneficial effects of an opiate ...

Yesterday I found out from my doctor that I will no longer be able to get refills on the only drug that I have found that works to relieve arthritis pain that has no side affects for me. I am in the process of composing a letter my congressman to express my displeasure with the DEA's decision to make Tramadol a controlled substance with no expectations of anything but lip service in response. It seems to me that the government agency that is in charge of keeping illegal drugs from entering our country and apparently can't make a dent in that, has chosen a lot easier target, older Americans with Arthritis . I encourage everyone that is in the same situation as I am to contact your congressional representatives and demand that they reel in a agency that seems to think that everyth...

Does 50mg of tramadol potentiate 20mg hydro (2 10's) ## Hello Badkitty! How are you? No, they are not known to potentiate each other. According to the FDA, substances that may potentiate a narcotic include medications, such as Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen and Aspirin. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

According to U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (Sept. '08 publication) tramadol is NOT a controlled substance. Is it in the state of Virginia? ## It is considered an Opiate Narcotic, so it should be considered a controlled substance all over the U.S. ## As of Jan 2010 Tramadol is a Class IV controlled substance in Virginia, if caught without intent to distribute up to 1 year in jail, if caught with intent to distribute up to 5 years in prison ## Tramadol is not a controlled substance in Virginia. In Jan 2010 legislation was proposed to make it a schedule IV controlled substance but the bill died in committee. Does anyone know if this medication (Tramadol/Ultram) is a controlled substance? ## i live in the uk and have been on tramadol for about 6-7 years now and it is over here ## no, it is not a controled sub. it is non narcotic, genric for ultram. it intercepts neurotransmitter in your brain (serotonin) to control pain ## if tramadol is not a controlled substance why do they ask for ID at the pharmacy? ## I dont care what they say. Tramadol is an addictive narcotic. It's not as hard to kick as the others but a narcotic just the same. ## Iv been told Tramadol is a watered down version of stronger narcotics. In fact I feel like Iv been lied to. Im a recovering drug addict. I learned I had liver cancer in the ER. They gave me this and said it wont triger a relaps. Like hell it wont. Im eve...

I take ol-tram 100mg for chronic pain issues. From HAB pharmaceuticals. I open the capsule and tip it in my mouth, because I can't swallow tablets as I am a little baby, lol. Female, between 25 - 30 years old. Healthy weight. Will let you know how it goes. ## Has been 2 hours, feel fine, has taken the edge of pain, will take one more 100mg, should remove pain. So far no problems at all with HAB pharmaceuticals ol-tram. ## Has been 5 hours since first capsule, 3 hours since second capsule. Pain has subsided, feel fine, exactly same result as from any other tramadol. There is nothing wrong with ol-tram 100mg from HAB pharmaceuticals. I would question the motive from the previous person in this forum who says these are not effective. . . ## So how did you get your script filled with th...

Is fast becoming a low grade but definite controlled substance. Have there been many cases of over dose? Deaths? Why is this happening? Back in the day you could order narcotics from Sears catalog. And buy tramadol over the counter. I'm not saying this is responsible for this day in age of course, but there just seems to be so much over control. I'm not speaking for all, just this particular medication. It has potential dependence not so much abuse. And so what I don't drink. Don't smoke.hate that, ew. Just put it behind the counter and ask for an I.d. 21 and older. ## Hello, BluLotus! How are you? I understand what you're saying, but Tramadol does have addictive potential, plus there have been cases of overdose. While it seems like a rather benign mild medication, i...

I got a script of 50 tramadol on the 21st of April. When is a good time to get it refilled? I was to take one to two 3 times a day. ## Refill depends on the NUMBER OF TABLETS your original script called for divided by six. That's the number of days coverage you have beginning on April 21st. ## It can also depend on how the prescription was written. If it to be taken on an as needed basis, then your doctor may expect it to last longer than the division would imply. However, this is a controlled substance, since the FDA classifies it as an opioid, so your pharmacy won't let you get it filled too early. It is warned that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth. Is there anything else I ca...

when was tramadol changed to controlled substance and why was it changed ## Hi Frankie, Based on my research, Tramadol's status as a controlled substance went into effect as of yesterday, Aug 18th 2014. According to the DEA, Tramadol's abuse potential is said to be comparable to other schedule IV controlled substances, such as Propoxyphene. They also go on to state that Tramadol could potentially lead to physical or psychological dependence relative to other drugs/substances in schedule III. I'm assuming that such details are the primary reason why they felt the need to make it a controlled substance to begin with. However, a more thorough explanation can probably be found within the link below: deadiversion.usdoj.gov/fed_regs/rules/2014/fr0702.htm I hope this helps! ## Give...

Does anyone else take tramadol and wellbutrin together. I heard it can cause seizures. ## What you heard is right, regarding the risk of seizures. My research on the interactions between these two drugs quotes the following information as a "high risk" interaction: "MONITOR CLOSELY: The risk of seizures may be increased during coadministration of tramadol with any substance that can reduce the seizure threshold, such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI antidepressants or anorectics), monoamine oxidase inhibitors, neuroleptic agents, central nervous system stimulants, opioids, tricyclic antidepressants, other tricyclic compounds (e.g., cyclobenzaprine, phenothiazines), carbapenems, cholinergic agents, fluoroquinolones, interferons, chloroquine, mefloquine, lindan...

Hearing lots of places that the people who order tramadol via internet will no longer be able to. I live in a town with uptight doctors who charge outrageous prices plus insist on doing constant testing before writing a prescription. If true what are my option after Aug 18 ## i wish i had an answer for you, i have been using it for 3 years, more as a anti-depressant. I take 200 mg a day and feel good, certainly not intoxicated. This decision by FDA is ridiculous. Tramadol is not in the same class as Percs and Roxys etc. Unbelievable. I can go to Dr but i will be spending mad $ on their BS. Prices in the international market will now be inflated as well. The market is risky unless you know credible sources. ## Tramadol will become a Controlled Substancde Schedule IV in Aug. Is Tramadol a controlled substance, or is there any type of narcotic in them? I would really appreciate any reply. I would like to know ASAP if possible. It has been subscribed to my 16 year old son and I would like to know about the drug as soon as I can. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much! Hope to hear from someone real soon. Thanks again! ## I was recently given Tramadol and was surprised by all the labels on the bottle for a non-narcotic medication. Supposedly it is NOT a narcotic medication. I asked my friend if she's ever heard of it and she said she gave it to her 12 year old daughter for a full year with no side effects. ## I was browsing this web site for info on another drug out of my usual practice domain and ran across your question. Since I use thi...

can these be substituted for percs.or loratab?can ## It isn't as strong as the Oxycodone or Hydrocodone that's in those, since it isn't a straight narcotic opiate, just derived from one. Thus, it will really depend on what works best for the individual seeking pain relief. There are many people that get great results from it and there are some that don't. Learn more Tramadol details here. When I tried it years ago it made me sick, but didn't do anything for pain. However, I had a friend whose doctor prescribed it and she got great results with it. Has it been prescribed for you?

I have been taking Tramadol since Monday . I took five 50 mg pills since Tuesday and had an allergic reaction to them - all of the symptoms. How long will I suffer from the reaction? ## Hello, Linda! How are you doing? I'm sorry about what happened. What symptoms did you experience? It might take a week or so, before things start to ease up and you feel better. You should speak to your prescriber about it, to make sure it's listed in your medical records and not prescribed for you, again. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## Hello! my boyfriend has took a half of subsolv 5.7 for about a week or so now.
