Suboxone Doses

I just started taking the suboxone...8 mg 3 times a day. I took my first strip. I've taken all three yesterday the last one at around 7 pm. I'm wondering if I take my pill of choice, since I've barely started, will it block it? I was coming off of self medicating myself with methadone for 8 years. I hear that some people get different effects from taking the subs, but it's like taking a super ibuprofen for me. Any info on this would be helpful and I'm a big girl so I only need the facts not the lectures please and thank you. ## Hello, Hazel! How are you? The Buprenorphine in Suboxone has a much stronger hold on your opiate receptors than other narcotics, so it would prevent them from having any effect. That coupled with the Naloxone means that you'd just be wasti...

I've been on suboxone for about a month. Before I decided to face my addiction of over 10 years of opiate pain killers, I was on 80MG of Ms contin 3Xs daily, 40 of oxy as needed every 4 hours, Norco 10s 1 or 2 pills as needed every 4 hours, Xanax, Lyrica and a few others. First my doctor started me on 1\2 tablet 2Xs a day. It wasn't enough so he went up to 3xs a day. It still wasn't helping. He wouldn't raise it so I switched doctors. Now I'm currently at two 8mg tabs a day. Still it doesn't seem to be enough. What can I do? What is the average daily dose of suboxone? ## Hello, Jaycee! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem you're having. The maximum dosage is usually 24/6mgs a day, doses higher than that haven't been shown to have any clinical...

I took my last Oxycodone on Saturday. I've been taking 30 mg for 5 years. How long would withdrawals last if I take tiny pieces of 8 mg Suboxone? How long will I need to do this so that I don't get sick? Thanks ## I have a great deal of experience with induction phase of subs. If you are on Subutex you can start as soon as you feel a little sick. But make sure you have gone at least 24 to 36 hours. Since there is no Naloxone in Subutex it is not like subuxone, Start with a small piece of sub try that and see if you get relief. If you are ok take a little more until you feel straight. Subutex is alot easier to get on then subuxone so make sure you are really sick or you will go through Precipitative Withdrawal Or Hell as I like to call it. Remember, less is more and the oxys will...

I have been taking 32 mg suboxone/subutex for over a year. I switched to Methadone four days ago. I had my fourth dose of methadone today...50 mg. I feel like I’m in at least partial withdrawal, even though it’s only been 12 hours. There’s not much methadone built up in my system, so would it be safe to take subs now? I feel lousy, but I’m terrified of precipitated withdrawals. I’m guessing that wouldn’t happen, because the methadone hasn’t had a chance to build up in my system. Any advice would be so appreciated! I’m taking my recovery seriously, and I don’t want to relapse, which is tempting right now. Thank you so much in advance for any advice you might have. ## That's an awful high dose of Suboxone! Were you having issues wi...

Took only two doses of suboxone hated it when can I go back to pecocet ## Hello, Kitty! How are you? You'll need to wait about 3 days, unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. Otherwise the Naloxone in the Suboxone will prevent the Percocet from working. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi I'm writing this because of everything I was reading about suboxone on forums. Most of this was very negative and it freaked me out before I got on the stuff. My story may not be a help to those who have been on suboxone for many years because getting on it I knew that this was something I wasn't going to try to prolong, so it may help those who are about to get on suboxone. About my situation. I'm a disabled vet who was prescribed pain meds for six years, like most what started as normal quickly turned into higher doses and stronger meds as they no longer worked, at the end I was just taking them to not feel sick and couldn't go more than three hours without starting to get the sweats, this got old. My dose was about 10 30mg oxycodone and 4 60mg oxycontin daily give ...

I was in one of the other forums and saw someone post about an Rx film cutting guide? I guess it's suppose to help you cut your Suboxone films into to small doses for tapering. Well its $5 to download and I wanted to get some feedback before I decided if I wanted to download it. Has anyone used this before and if so, how did it work? ## I don't have any personal experience with this, but I do know tapering is the way to go if you want to avoid most withdrawal symptoms. Out of curiosity I went ahead and ran a google search on "Rx film cutting guide" and came across the one you mentioned for Suboxone. The instructions make it seem like a simple process, so I have no doubt it's worth the 5 bucks if it saves you time and energy from withdrawal symptoms. Everyone is diffe...

I'm new to suboxone. I was taking about 140mg of hydrocodone for a very long time. Dr prescribed suboxone film 8/2mg twice a day. Has anyone cut the film into smaller doses? For example dose yourself every 4 or 6 hours with a cut piece of film. I have an odd job where I work 12 hour days, i'm concerned of feeling "loopy" at work. This is a very private and personal journey and wish to keep my work out of it. I would appreciate any suggestions. I just started today( on my day off, have the next 2.5 days off) w/ 8mg/2mg. First dose. So i'm curious once these start building up in my system how am I going to feel. ## Hello, Macy! How are you? Yes, some people do that with the Suboxone film, it's fine to do, as long as your doctor approves. The FDA classifies this med...

I'm currently on 32 mg daily of suboxone. I also have been prescribed Clonazepam 1mg. Is it ok/safe to take 1 of the 1 mg Clonazepam with 32 mg of suboxone? I have received mixed answers so I'm hoping I can get a majority of responses that are similar. My main concern is that I will have depressed respiratory function or CNS depression. Any and all answers are welcomed. ## CNS depression is a possibility, if you are taking both of these medications, according to the FDA. However, the doesn't mean they cannot be taken together, if just means that your doctor should be sure to adjust your doses carefully, and they should be monitoring you regularly to try to avoid any potential problems. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I'll answer your question first and then yo...

Hi all. I'm desperate, please. I've been on prescribed opiates for the past 6 years for Chronic Pain. I'm starting to become extremely emotionally addicted to them, so I chose Suboxone. I was there for my first doses today - 2, wait an hour, then 4, then go home. Things were fine for an hour, then I started nodding off and had to put myself to bed, where I've not actually slept, just drowsy as. It's awful. My Dr told me the therapeutic dose is16 so he's aiming for that by increasing 2 a day. This is why I wanted off opiates!!! I have a 13 year old son with special needs and he needs me!!!! I'm a wreck! Is this going to go away once my body adjusts, or do I head for the hills now???? I cannot do this. I need to be able to function. ## I'm so sorry guys, I...

If I took two 5 mg Percocets at 5am, can I take a 2mg Suboxone at 5pm? ## Hello, Netty! How are you? You need to be in full withdrawal from all other opiates, before taking Suboxone, otherwise, it may throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I took a half of 2mg suboxone, I have 5 mg percocets can I take it only been on suboxone for 3 days and not high doses only took cause ran out of my original painmeds

Does anyone know if low doses of suboxone gives small pupils? Keep getting told my pupils are small but I only take .25 mg at a time. Any help would be appreciated. Anything help with this? Possibly caffeine intake? ## Suboxone does contain the opiate Buprenorphine, coupled with Naloxone, and opiates are well known to cause such a pupil response, as a side effect, along with nausea, dizziness, and headache. This article explains why it causes such a side effect. It is one sign that police look for, when they suspect someone is drug user. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Is there a specific amount that will cause small pupils? Is there a certain timeframe that you know of the small pupils lasts once the dose is administered? ## Anything that's a central nervous system depre...

I have been taking suboxone for about 2 months now. I am supposed to take 12mgs a day...3 doses 4 mg a piece a lot of days i do not need the 3rd dose and take 4 in the morning and 4 in the evening. Since i stoped taking painkillers i have had bad anxiety and trouble sleeping my mind seems to wonder and dwell on things when i go to bad and have had a couple anxiety attacks at work. My doctor tried buspar for 3 weeks because he does not like to give benzos with the subs. I had no relief from the buspar so today he gave me a perscription for xanax 0.5mg as need max 2 a day. He explained the possiable interaction between them and told me as long as i take them at least a couple hours apart i ahouldnt have any problems. Today is my first day at IOT.. I had a head injury one year ago .. Was given extremely high doses of oxy for 5 weeks .. Which turned into a very bad habit .. I took about 60mg a day .. They just gave me 2mg subx my Mind has settled but still feel like a drank 3 pots of coffee on the inside .. Does subx make you feel totally normal ? Or just keep you from getting sick ? ## Hello, Krissy! How are you feeling? Have things improved, at all? The Suboxone should eventually make you feel normal, but it can take a couple of tries to get the right dosage. I was on methadone for 15 years, up to 300mg at the most. I recently switched to suboxone, after a slow taper to 20mg of the done. I have been on sub for 5 days now, needing 6 to 8mg a day. My question is why does my stomach hurt so bad after the dose wears off? I have tried splitting doses and it alleviates the stomach pain temporarily. Could this be the nalaxone in the suboxone? Or can methadone hang out and cause withdrawals still, even though the suboxone covers for it. All started from a surgery at 15 years old, fron post surgery pain management. then a pediatrician started me on methadone for the pain and eventually referred me to a methadone clinic when I was 18. ## Forgot to add I get 8/2mg(bupe/ nalaxone) sublingual strips, and split it in two for a total of one strip a day. ##...

I have just started Suboxone 8/2, since the Fentanyl patches (150 mg) were not making a difference in the severe pain that I was experiencing. I was told there was nothing else they (Dr.s) could do for me. They said they could not go up on the Fentanyl. I saw 9 specialists at Emory University. Eight of the docs said there was nothing left to do and I would have to live with it. Only 1 doctor, a surgeon, said he could take out a portion of my brain so that I could not feel pain anymore. I opted for the Suboxone trial. It worked better for me than the Fentanyl patches. I divide my doses so that I can take the med every 4 hours around the clock. I don't know about the rest of you all but my pain doesn't stop until around 9 pm. The only thing I have noticed is that when the doctors ...

My question is I have taken suboxone for awhile now and for the past few months I've been tapering off of them I'm to the point of where about a 4mg strip will last for probably around 10 days. My question is, is that even enough to be helping me or is it all just in my head? I'm just wondering because I'm quitting one way or the other and just want to know if the withdrawals will be as bad as others because of my low doses or if anyone else has tried it this way? All help is appreciated. Thanks... ## If that's all you're taking in a 10 day period, then you most likely won't have any withdrawal effects from stopping. It seems you've already tapered yourself far enough to be done. However, you should know to watch for any withdrawal symptoms, such as chill...

I'm a chronic pain pt. I was on 16 mg of sub for pain for 2 straight years. It completely stopped working, when in the beginning it worked "good enough" now, my dr is a pain specialist and suboxone dr. He put me on a fentynal patch 25 mcg told me to take my last dose of sub and put patch on at same time because sub should b mostly out of my system within 12 hrs. I had no problem switching but a little wd from the sub. It is only day 4....dr said 40% of your opiod receptors r still open on sub!!! It only fills 60% of them. Still, enough to block most opiates, except very high doses. Now, I am just starting to feel the fentynal on day 4. But am still in moderate/sometimes severe pain. Anyone with a similar experience???? ## Hi Painpatient38, I haven't personally had an exp...

Do they make 12 and 16 mg suboxonne for the public. My frientold me about a 12 and 16 mg suboxonne ## Dear trey, I've never heard about it. If that was the case, I think the Dr would give people the16 instead of two 8s. It would then b easier 2 take 1 instead of 2. You get what I mean? But, maybe it's something new. I'm on 3 (8mg) a day and if they had 16, I would only have 2 take a 16 and an 8. 2 instead of 3. Again, it might b new. ## This is brand new. I've been told by my GP that he wants to put me on 12 mg per day to start lowering my dosage. Most pharmacies don't carry them, but can be ordered and you receive them within about 3 days. ## The maximum listed available are the 8mgs, as Cats68 has stated. Other doses are usually done by using several of them, or cu...
