Hi, my name is Rebecca. I have been using opiates for about 3 years now, but I've only been addicted to opiates for a year now. I say opiates but I go back and forth between opiates and suboxone. For the past year I have been using suboxone almost everyday(supplied by boyfriend) and he does it too. Last week my boyfriend and I went through a nasty breakup and he hasn't been giving me anymore suboxone or using it himself either. I was taking oxycodone about 90 mg a day and ran out. A friend gave me 3 fentanyl 50mg patches which I use for 5 days, I've been clean now for 54 hrs. I've been taking suboxone for2 days now and I'm still sick. I was on fentanyl 75. Can I put back my patch to get rid of this withdrawal? ## I'm not a doctor but I would say if you've only been taking it a few days to stop taking the suboxone and get back on the fen patch. You may not feel it like you used too, bc Suboxone blocks the effects of euphoria from regular narcotics because its used a lot for people who are addicted to opiates, such as pain patches. I think you will have little to no withdrawal if you start back on the pain patch because the body stil recognizes the Suboxone as an opiate and the patch is obviously an opitate, too, just without the Naloxone and Bupernorine. I previously was dependent on opiate pain meds, then got put on suboxone and have now become dependent on that. I wanted to be completely off everything so I stopped taking the suboxone and have used a fentanyl patch for a week so I didn’t have horrible withdrawals. My question is, after the patch wears off would I still have withdrawal symptoms? Is the patch simply delaying the withdrawals? I have chronic back pain from a sports injury several years ago. Since the suboxone tablets are being discontinued and my doctor cannot subscribe the medication for pain management any longer, he wants me to switch to fentanyl patches. Ok..so I've been on Suboxone 8mg strips for 2 years. However, I've been only taking 4mg a day starting a week ago and have only taken 1mg the past 2 days. I have a fentanyl patch because, frankly, I'm tired of suffering with my ungodly back pain. My question is probably predictable, but given the low doses I've taken, if I use the patch tomorrow morning, will I feel the effect? After taking 100mcg transdermal fentanyl patches, which I have been on for a few months. I was prescribed 2 8-2mg SuboxoneNaloxone, Insurance would only pay for the pill form. Next week I have a appt. with a DR who prescribes Suboxone. I have been on Fentanyl patches for 8 years now.I am prescribed 150 mcg every 48 hrs. but still feel I am in partal withdrawal most of the time.Does anyone have a similar situation and how bad should the withdrawals be with Suboxone and Xanax if he will still allow them? I am having minor surgery in about eight days. I have been taking about 8mg of Suboxone for opiate addiction for the past four months. The sedation for my surgery typically requires iv fentanyl and iv versed, however since I am taking Suboxone, this combination will not be effective. I was advised to take more than my usual dose of Suboxone the day of the procedure and will only be administered the iv versed. I was told the higher does of sub WITH the versed will make me comfortable enough to tolerate any pain. I am very scared this is not going to help my pain and I will feel everything!!! I am prescribed fentanyl 25mcgs/hr. Sometimes I have trouble keeping the patch on. I had a couple fall off early this month and couldn't get my refill early. So I decided I would use Subxn to help if there was withdrawal. It worked good, but now it's time for me to stop and put back on my patch. I don't know how long I have to wait. I took 2mgs yesterday at 3pm. It's now 1pm. Is it too soon? ## You will be fine to take it, 2mg is a really low dosage- I take a-more than that. Suboxin is a opiate blocker- your patch may not seem as strong but I doubt it- If you take suboxin over a period of time 3days or more - then your patch would be a waste. I have just started Suboxone 8/2, since the Fentanyl patches (150 mg) were not making a difference in the severe pain that I was experiencing. I was told there was nothing else they (Dr.s) could do for me. They said they could not go up on the Fentanyl. I saw 9 specialists at Emory University. Eight of the docs said there was nothing left to do and I would have to live with it. Only 1 doctor, a surgeon, said he could take out a portion of my brain so that I could not feel pain anymore. I opted for the Suboxone trial. It worked better for me than the Fentanyl patches. I divide my doses so that I can take the med every 4 hours around the clock. I have been on Fentanyl 100mcg/hr, In vivo delivery of 100mcg/hr for 72 hours and I change them every 2 days instead of every 3 days so the amount of medication doesn't drop too low. I am wondering how the withdrawal is with this drug. How severe, how long it takes to get out of your system and if there is another drug used to help with the weaning?
