How long will the drug be in my system? ## Hello, James! How are you? The FDA classifies Amlodipine as a calcium channel blocker that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increase urination and hypotension. However, if you are taking it to treat one of these serious health conditions, I strongly urge you not to stop taking it, without speaking to your doctor to replace it with something else. I understand that side effects can be problematic, but letting your condition get out of control could put you at risk of heart attack, stroke or congestive heart failure. Any of which risks being fatal. What types of problems are you having with it and how long have you been tak...

I had a reaction I think. I felt horrible. My muscles and joints were aching. Can I stop it after two days? ## Those can be normal side effects of this medication, according to the NIH, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination. Such side effects are typically transient and will go away, once your body gets used to the medication, but that may take about 4 to 5 weeks. It would be best to have this checked out, rather than just stopping it, your doctor can prescribe an alternative medication that may not make you so miserable. Is there anything else I can help with?

If I'm to just stop taking this, is it dangerous or should i take half of 5mg to reduce sudden withdrawal symptoms? ## Hello, Karen! How are you? That can be a side effect of this medication, however, if you are treating high blood pressure or a cardiac condition, it is far more dangerous to stop taking it and let them continue uncontrolled. Side effects are typically transient and go away with time, once your body gets used to the medication, but that may take 4 to 5 weeks. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am 55 and for last 1 year I have been taking Telma 40 and Amlodact 5 in the morning Atorva 5 at night. Now I am to face acute knee problem that benumbed me and prevents smooth walking, A friend of mine advises me to take Cal Mag D and stop Amlodac 5. Can I stop it and opt for some other medication? My blood right now is 146/86. ## Hello, Professor B! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. However no, you shouldn't stop taking any of your prescribed medications, unless your doctor instructs you to do so. The Cal Mag D is just a nutritional supplement and if it's okay with your doctor for you to take it, there would be no reason to stop a medication due to taking it, anyway. Have you consulted your doctor, yet?

I was prescribed Amlodipine 2 weeks ago. I'm 69 years old and it is making me sick. Can I stop this med safely? Thank you ## Amlodipine is most commonly prescribed to help lower high blood pressure, and to treat certain cardiac conditions, if it was prescribed for you, you should consulted your doctor, before stopping it, so they can help you safely switch to a different medication. If you suddenly stop it, on your own, you create the risk of the condition being treated becoming dangerous. after consuming actapin amlodipine 5mg for one and a half month. Can I stopped taking the medication if my blood pressure is under control?? ## The issue is, if the Amlodipine is the only reason your blood pressure is under control and you stop taking it, it is likely going to get out of control again. On top of that, abruptly stopping a medication like this can cause a rebound effect, which could result in dangerously elevated blood pressure. Learn more Amlodipine details here. Back, side, stomach pain, ankles swelling, muscle weakness and the list goes on.. My Dr took me off the amlodipine a couple days ago. I'm experiencing increased pain in body, legs, ankles. How can I stop hair loss due to taking Amlodipine 10mg? ## I would personally recommend natural alternatives to counteract it, that way there is no risk of having even more side effects associated with another prescription medication. I found that supplementing with liver pills is a great source of iron, biotin, and B-vitamins which help to keep hair strong and healthy. Another reliable option is supplementing with fish oil or hemp seed oil; particularly the omega 3 and 6 fatty acids are great for hair. One last option I would recommend is ceedarwood essential oil for stopping the hair from falling out. I urge you to google information about these products for not just hair health, but many other benefits as well. Please post back if you have any other questions or concerns...

Blood pressure meds are not recreational drugs. You could kill yourself. If you want your feet to swell and heart to stop, well sounds like a risky buzz to me if any. I have taken it for months now and I assure you, no opiate type effects. Your blood pressure will drop, might make you dizzy but no fun there and too much can kill you. My advice to you my friend is this: Don't play with this med. It is for cardiac patients with serious needs to help control heart. A fine line here. As far as getting buzzed on pills, man, leave it alone.
