My partner bashed me in the head and started the onset of complex partial seisures. I have tried Tegretol, Epelim & Topamax but all cause hair loss. I have stopped taking all medications for now and would like to find a drug that stops hair loss. My hair has started to grow back after stopping all drugs 8 months ago. ## If it has finally started growing back, then it may just be best to let it do it naturally, without medication interference. However, one that is used to increase hair growth is Spironolactone, it is used to treat many medical conditions, such as high blood pressure, as a diuretic, to replace potassium and etc. Hair growth is one of its side effects. You can learn more about it here: I've been taking the lowest dose available, for my blood pressure and low potass...

I've been on Lisimopril for 4 months and all my hair is falling out I'm so sad by this. Im stopping the meds and seeing my doc. I'm searching for a natural way to control your BP. Will my hair grow back and what alternatives can the doctors give me. I'm very scared and worry about my hair loss and side affects from stopping the meds. ## Hello, Joanna! How are you doing? I strongly urge you not to stop it cold turkey, because doing so creates the risk of dangerously elevated blood pressure and heart rate, which could lead to health problems, such as heart attack or stroke, as reported by the FDA. And yes, there are other options available that your doctor can prescribe, over 100 of them, actually, so I can't possibly list them all. It's really just a matter of tri...

Hi I recently broke my hip, I'm 25 and have been given eliquis to take. It's been 6 weeks now and I'm experiencing my hair start to thin and fall out including my eyelashes. Does anyone know how long it takes to grow back or how long after stopping taking it, your hair stops falling out. At 25 losing my hair is pretty distraught, I could deal with the constant insomnia, low blood pressure and nausea but not this. ## That can be a normal side effect of this medication, according to NIH reports. Are you also taking any others? I have had that happen from medications in the past, so I understand how upsetting it is. You should probably talk to your doctor about trying a different medication.

I've been taking tamzapan for a year and experienceing horrible hair loss Had two surgerys last year as well. Tamzapan even messed my hormones now the doctor is putting me on some hormone replacement Has anyone ever weaned off this nasty drug? ## Alopecia can be a normal side effect of this medication, according to FDA reports, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, and decreased orgasm. Yes, people have weaned off of it successfully, but it must be done via a very slow taper, suddenly stopping creates a risk of seizures. What type of hormonal issues are you having? ## I don't know yet it seems like all the doctors I've been to don't know what's going on. Going to my gynecologist tomorrow hopefully he has some answers Can you loose all hair from surgeries I'm so...

I started Contrave on August 1st and was up to full dosage by September 1st. I've been battling side effects, headaches, nausea, motion sickness, insominia and now I've noticed a lot of hair loss. So much that I can see my scalp and have a dime sized bald spot forming. I started weaning last week because of the terrible headaches but now with this hair loss I'm determined to wean off all of the way. I'm searching for ways to restore my hair. I'm feeling very depressed. Will my hsir come back does anyone konw? Has this happened to anyone else? ## That can be a side effect of this medication, according to FDA reports, though it isn't a common on. However, yes it should improve, when you stop taking this medication, but it may take a few months for your hair and its...

I'm experiencing a significant amount of hair loss at age 71 which has been going on for a year or so. I use 1/2 gram of Premarin vaginal cream once weekly. Has anyone else experienced hair loss due to this drug? ## Premarin is an Estrogen hormone. It is very hard to say whether the hair loss could be related to a health condition, the hormones or age and since this site is not medical professionals, we can't even begin to guess. Have you tried asking your doctor about it? Some women do naturally lose their hair with age, just like men do. ## I am experiencing bloating when not taking it, stomach cramps, shortness of breath and it looked like I passed a clot recently after severe stomach pain and burning intercourse. Should I stop taking elrredin - I went to mexico because I hav...

I've always had thin hair since i can remember. I was wondering if there is a medical remedy that can solve this? I am a woman and i have no self confidence through it. is there a medical treatment that i could get prescribed from my doctor? ## Ever heard of Fincom-1? Any kinds of feedback will be appreciated. ## I am 40 years old. As of late I have been losing at least 7 to 8 strands of hair after I shower. I just want to know how I can stop the hair fall and save the rest of my hair? Please help me. ## Are either of you on any medications? Do you have any diagnosed medical conditions? There are various ones that could cause hair loss, according to NIH studies. Victor, that is a normal loss level and not usually anything to worry about. Are you starting to bald? Is the loss noticea...

Does hair loss stop after use of Diethylpropion? ## Hello, Lyn! How are you? In theory, if it was solely caused by the medication, it should reverse upon discontinuation. Learn more Diethylpropion details here. The reason I phrased it that way is because everyone is different, so there's really no definitive way to say whether or not it will reverse for any given person. How long have you been taking it? ## I too am losing my hair after taking it. I stoppe several weeks ago and still losing hair. Curious if anyone else having this issue and if your hair loss is overall the head or in spots on the scalp.

Hello. I took lexapro 7 years ago for about a year. My question is that I noticed shortley to getting off of it, my hair started thining. I had very thick coarse blonde hair prior. More recently with my now thin head of hair I have noticed it does not seem to grow... It's horrible!!!! I don't want to bash lexapro because I'm certain it gave me my life back and helped my anxiety more than I could hope for. But my hair??? HELP, anyone??? ## Even if it was caused by the Lexapro, it isn't likely that it would persist for so long after you've stopped taking it. Most such side effects wear off as the medication leaves your body. Learn more Lexapro details here. There are, however, other things that can cause hair loss. Have you consulted your doctor about it? It may be due...

I have been taking 200 mg. a day for about 4 years. I thought it was a coincidence that I've lost 50% of my hair during this time because I am also going through menopause. I just found out that it is possible the hair loss is caused by metoprolol, so my doctor just wrote me a RX for a different drug. Will my hair grow back? It was very long, down to my waist, but I've been cutting it to compensate for the thinness. I just touch my head and lose a few hairs! Any ideas? ## I have been on 25 mg of metoprolol for 2 months and my hair is rapidly falling out. I have stopped taking it. Will my hair stop falling out? Is the hair loss that I have already experienced reversable? ## If your hair loss truly was caused by taking Metoprolol, then yes, your hair will all grow back. BUT you we...

Just took myself off trilipix was on it for almost 4 months. It really dropped my trig cholestrol and other cholestrol. But during the last month I have had a lot of hair loss. I stopped using it 3 weeks ago and still have hair loss the hair is very fine. My hair is normally very thick. Has anyone else had this? ## Trilipix contains the active ingredient Fenofibric Acid, it is used to help lower cholesterol. Does you doctor know you are going off of this medication? Have you discussed it with them? Hairloss is not a listed side effect of this medication, are you on anything else that may be causing it? ## Yes he knows. I just had my blood work done and all readings are normal. My cholesterol is on its way back up. If it were up to me I would never had used this drug. I have been off it ...

I must say Dinintel is the best diet pill out there but I lost the strength in my hair. ## Thinning hair is a reported side effect of taking Phentermine, so clobenzorex (the active ingredient in Dinintel), being a close relative, could possibly cause it. Do you have any more questions or information to add? Please post back if you do. ## I was watching the DR‘s on TV about 2 years ago. They had SHANN CHRISTIEN on. He does hair in CA and he sells Bio Method shampoo for hair loss. I have been using it for years. My hair stopped coming out and I got new growth like the person he helped on the DR show. It works for me and that is the only shampoo I will use. Age 75. P.S. It's not expensive.

I have been taking Eliquis for a year now. Major hair loss. I am 65. Female. You can see my scalp all over. I am so self conscious I am embarrassed to even go to church. I need to take some kind of blood thinner for irregular heartbeat. Can't tolerate aspirin. I wonder if lower dosage would make a difference. I take 5mg twice a day. ## Hello, Marion! How are you doing? I am so sorry about what you're experiencing, I have to say that I would be just as embarrassed. Perhaps you could wear a hat, or bonnet to church, for now? As to a remedy for the situation, the hair loss is usually reversible, once you stop taking the medication, according to the NIH, so you may want to speak to your doctor about trying a different blood thinner. Are you on any other medications? ## I just switch...

I'm on Livifem now for 7 months and have noticed a massive hair loss. I have decided to stop using it because this is very traumatic to me. Will my hair grow back again? And how long will it take for it to be normal again? Thank you ## The FDA classifies this as a hormonal supplement, so yes, it can cause hair loss as a side effect, along with headache, nausea, irritability, mood swings, weight gain and PMS-like symptoms. And yes, the hair loss should stop and your hair should fill back, after stopping it, but it may take a month, or two, before you see improvement. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you for that confirmation. Im so confused what on earth should a woman do to be normal again. I have no idea what to use next that doesn't have a side effect. Regards

Since using Soriatane, my hair has become brittle and is falling out. I recently stopped taking the drug but it's still falling out. Will this ever get better? ## HI, Dorothy! Sorry about the hair loss, that is just awful for a woman to have to deal with. And yes, it should get better, if it was just caused by the medication. However, if it was influenced by something else, such as imbalanced hormones, then it may not improve, so you'll really just have to wait awhile and see. How bad is the loss? Have you tried any treatments for the brittleness?

I have been taking diltiazem for at least 10yrs to control migraine headaches. I am 62 and am noticing thinning hair. Seems to have happened overnight. Has anyone experienced this and if so did you have regrowth after stopping the medicine ## Hello, Fran! How are you? The FDA does list hair loss as being among the possible side effects of this medication, along with nausea, dizziness, headache and increased urination. And yes, it usually does reverse itself, once you stop taking it. However, please do not stop it abruptly, unless your doctor tells you to do so, a sudden cessation creates the risk of dangerously elevated blood pressure and heart rate. Is there anything else I can help with? ## You have been very helpful, thanks. I weaned off medicine slowly. Hopefully I will see improveme...

The FDA does list that as being a possible side effect of this medication, it can also cause nausea, headache, mood swings and weight changes. I have used various older drugs like Tegretol, Topamax, Epilum for complex parcial seisures that started 6 years ago after a bash in the head. I have experienced HAIR LOSS with them all. I stopped all drugs 4 months ago as my hair was getting thinner over the last year, its still falling but less. I was wondering if there were any new drugs like SAFINAMIDE that may not affect the hair. Has anybody been using this drug and experienced HAIR LOSS ## I have tryed Tegretol, topamax, epilum and lost lots of hair like every one else over the last 6 years.I have stopped all medication for 8 months now but cant drive. You either loose hair or drive, what a choice. Does this new drug Safinamide and Lacosamide do the same. It seems they are all just bad drugs.

2 months ago my doctor prescribed Pradaxa because I have Dvt. I have other health issues therefore I take quite a few meds. After 1 month on Pradaxa, I said to the doc, there are 2 things a woman doesn't want to happen, 1-gain weight and 2- lose your hair. My genius doc said, hair loss is not a side effect. Told him I don't know where ha gets his info. I took it upon myself to stop Pradaxa. I have been off for 1 week & my hair keeps falling out. Anybody know when the hair loss stops and will your hair come back. To add insult to injury I began to gain weight. I am quite crippled due to severe arthritis in my hips so I don't want to carry any extra weight on my hips. Any ideas when that hunger eases up. Thanks. ## Hello, Dee Dee! How are you?
