I have been on Xarelto for a little over 6 months after a PE. My doctor said sonograms show negative for any more blood clots in legs and follow up contrast ct shows clear and blood tests show no markers for predisposition for blood clots, I am 50 with no atrial defeib good blood pressure and strong heart although I am obese, I am afraid doctor wants to keep me on the drug, because of course it is the safe thing to do, what should I do? ## Hello, Dave! How are you? Have you discussed it with your doctor? Many people do just take it for a short period of time, until they are in the clear, then they are able to stop taking it. Are you have any problems with it, such as the side effects, that may include nausea, dizziness, headache and joint/muscle aches? Tapering it, with your doctor'...

I have been on Prexum 4mg for a month and my bloodpressure only came down to 140/95. I had lower back aches most days and stopped running and cycling. There wasn't much improvement with the back ache. Then I went onto Prexum plus 2 weeks ago as the Dr wanted BP to be lower. I now have severe back ache and lower back spasms that even walking seems to make it worse. I have been to the chiropractor as well as the physio with no improvement. Could this be a side effect of the medication? ## Yes, some blood pressure and cardiac medications can cause that as a side effect, as reported by the NIH. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination. You may be better served by switching to a different medication. Is this your only daily medication?

I was switched by my cardiologist from Lisinopril to Losartan because of the coughing caused by Lisinopril. Since taking Losartan 100 mg once a day I have experienced muscle aches from my shoulder all the way down the back to my thighs. It feels like I was doing a heavy workout. My VA Dr. said he didn't think it was from the Losartan. I see my regular Dr. in June and am going to inform him. Do any of u think it could be from the meds? ## From what I could gather, Losartan does list the following side effects that may be what you're experiencing: leg, knee, or back pain muscle cramps or weakness chest pain Referenced from: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a695008.html#side-effects To my understanding, it's unlikely that these side effects will subside until you stop taki...

I've been taking tramadol for over two years now 1000mil a time that's 500mil then another 500 ten mins later I find it very hard to stop as it makes me ache fell horrible and just can't stop and think I really need to ## Hello, Dingle! How are you? The U.S. FDA classifies this medication as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. As to stopping it, if you stop suddenly, those are normal withdrawal effects. The best thing to do is to taper off slowly, as guided by your doctor, by doing a slow taper to prevent the worst of the withdrawals. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have started a 12 wk program of Harvoni this is day 4 ,, Iam having head aches they come and go but are never far away , they seem to always be in the back ground , Is this normal or what ????? ## Hi Michael, Sorry to hear about the headaches you've been having lately. According to the manufacturer, headaches are actually reported to be one of the most common side effects of Harvoni in clinic trials. However my findings go on to state that you should contact your doctor if the symptoms become too bothersome or severe. On that note, I would even consider inquiring about alternative treatment options, knowing that headaches associated with Harvoni may or may not go away on their own until you stop taking what's causing it to begin with. Any thoughts on this? I hope you feel bett...

How've Can I stop my 10 mil Lipitor ? I am using it one a day for a year. Do I just wuit, or reduce it little by little? ## Hello, Patti! How are you? I need surgery for skin cancer. I have been taking Xarelto since March for Afib. I have waited over a week for my primary care doc to answer this question. Can I stop or do I have to be weaned off? ## Hello, Sandy! How are you? I'm very sorry about the skin cancer and hope that all turns out well. Usually, they have you stop taking it a few days, before surgery, but how long can depend on how complicated and in-depth your surgery will be. Thus, it would actually behoove you to ask your surgeon, they should be able to advise you on the matter. Xarelto is used to help prevent clotting and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, joint aches, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising. ## I was taking xarelto for nearly 6 mths. I am taking coveram 1/2 of 5mg tablet as doctor was still concerned about BP, I increased to a full tablet. My small continuous stomach ache is now much worse mainly during the night. Coversyl plus did the same and ended up in hospital with acute pancreatitis and that is why I was changed over to Coveram. ## The following symptoms are all listed as side effects of Coveram: stomach pain diarrhea constipation muscle cramps feeling sick (nausea) Does the stomach ache still occur even when you are off the medication? I was thinking perhaps it could have something to do with foods you may have been eating, but those side effects make it pretty clear that Coveram is the main issue here. None the less it's probably wise to stop taking these types of medications in general if your body just...

I've been taking Depakote for 11 years and went off of it for 3 months. That was not good. Been back on for 2 months. I just don't feel right. Still side effects of headaches, nervous and some anxiety and aches. Could it be that it stopped working? Or something else? Thanks. ## Were you taking it as a mood stabilizer due to being bipolar or did you use it as anti-convulsant? Did you taper off when you stopped or did you just go cold turkey? It could be that you're brain had been "rewiring" itself so to speak, and now it's back in the process of changing again. So it might just be something that will pass as your brain readjusts to it. ## It’s for anxiety and mania. But it’s been like 3 months. It’s working for the worst but I’m just off. M...

I stopped the metformin about 2 weeks ago, I was diagnosed with MS, and after they added Copaxone that made 5 medications and I wanted to cut some out, so I started with Metformin. Since then I've been achey, dizzy, and my jaw is hurting. Is this because I stopped the metformin? I also take Lamictal for bi-polar disorder, methylphenidate for ADD, and birth control. I've continued taking these. ## Those could be symptoms of your MS, rather than being due to any specific medication. MS is well known to cause random unexpected symptoms, according to NIH reports. But the Copaxone can also cause similar side effects. As to cutting out some medications, that might not be a good idea, sometimes we do need to be reliant on them for our health, and well being. How are you doing, now? Has...

I took levosulpiride for about 3-4 months continuously for gastroesophageal reflux disorder. After stopping the drug I started feeling depressed. Is it because of using levosulpiride? ## Hello, Paru! How are you doing? Has there been any improvement? Yes, this medication is actually also commonly used as an antipsychotic and to treat various other mental health disorders, so suddenly stopping it could cause depression, anxiety, nausea, diarrhea and muscle aches. It may take a week or two for things to return to normal, however, if it worsens, or doesn't go away, you should consult your doctor. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi Paru and Verwon... i used levosulpiride for about 9 months continuosly for gastroesophageal reflux disorder.. As Paru told, after stopping the dru...

I have been on Lesinopril 20mg for a little over a year now. I just stopped taking it 4 days ago, trying to go natural on keeping my BP down. the first day I just did yoga each day, ate low calorie food as roasted veggies, and drank smoothies. My daily drinks consisted of Pomegranate juice and a spoon apple cider vinegar diluted with a cup of water. My average BP for the last 3 days was 121/78. Today I started having a severe headache, blurry vision and body ache in general. Is this common when you stop Lisinopril? While I do believe that I can keep my BP down naturally I am suspicious of the side effect of getting rid of this pill.. ## Hello, Rich! How are you? Yes, that can happen, if you suddenly stop such a medication, rather than tapering off of it, as reported by the FDA. You may ...

I have been on Belviq for about six weeks. I have experienced horrible mood swings, diarrhea (HORRIBLE and NON STOP), actual weight gain, my bones and body aches constantly, I can barely keep my eyes open and lastly, which is the most important.....it feels like I can't breath some times. I have been really working to eat very healthy, exercise when I can due to my body hurting so bad, and drink a lot of water. After six weeks, I have gained 4 pounds!!! I have been struggling with my weight for years, so I thought I would give this a go. I do have a hypo thyroid, but it is controlled with medication. I would defiantly warn people about the side effects. I'm hoping it gets out of my system FAST!! Has anyone else dealt with this before? ## I can't believe that you kept taking ...

Hello. I have been taking lipvas (atorvastatin) tablets for the past nine months and my daily dose is 10mg. I got checked for my cholesterol levels and all parameters are within the safe zone. Shall I stop taking this medication? ## You should not stop it, without your doctor's approval. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and joint/muscle aches. The medication may be the only thing keeping it down and preventing future medical problems. Are you on any other medications? ## I had diabetes and an old stroke case for which the doctor prescribed Carbamazepine, Atorvastatin, and an Asprin tablet. Now my BP and sugar levels are somehow ok. So, can I stop taking these meds?

Hi, I've been on Clindamycin 150mg x3, 3 times a day to treat SI Joint MRSA. I've taken this for 11months. I started jogging (I use to be an elite marathon runner) 3 months ago. No problems.. just the typical shin splints and common running injuries. During the past month I'm experiencing weakness in legs and extream soreness in my calf muscles, to a degree that I can only walk for 10min. My hospital checkups are 3months apart and I'm supposed to be on antibiotics for at least 1yr. I've decided to stop taking antibiotics yesterday, due to the pain.
