Statins are known to cause memory loss. I've read that losartan can cause the same side effects as statin drugs. Is memory loss one of the side effects losartan can cause? ## No, it is not a statin, it is actually classified as an angiotensin 2 receptor antagonist, but yes it can cause memory impairment as a side effect, though it is very rare for it to do so. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is the patient on any other medications? ## yes, patient is on amlodipine. He has none of the 'normal' side effects you mentioned. He is always tired. When I looked up side effects for his meds, both said extreme fatigue was a possible side effect. He is cold frequently when no one else is. Is...

Niacin + Simvastatin Drug Index

Niacin/simvastatin (trade name Simcor, by Abbott) is a combination drug consisting of an extended release form of the vitamin niacin and the statin drug simvastatin.[1] It is used for the treatment of dyslipidemia. It was approved by the FDA on February 15, 2008.[2] On April 15, 2016, the FDA pulled the approval of niacin and fibrates used in combination with statin drugs, citing growing evidence that the benefits of combining niacin or fibrate drugs with stat...

I was recently told that simvastatin depletes CoQ10, leading to the "weakness" side effect. Anyone heard this? ## I have to agree with that statement, as there are a number of discussions relating to Statin drugs (atorvastatin, cerivastatin, fluvastatin, lovastatin, simvastatin) depleting the body of coenzyme Q10. Other types of drugs like beta-blockers also deplete the body of this too, but one way to help counteract this is to supplement with CoQ 10. Personally, If I were short on this vital nutrient, I would supplement a minimum of 400-600mg a day while taking one of those drugs that inherently depletes it. That's just me, as I would prefer to be well stocked if I became aware that this was happening to me. I hope this helps! ## Thank you

my mother was on a statin drug for 10 years and she started juicing using carrots some other fruits and veggies and lots of celery. just recently she has been taken off her statin drugs. it worked for her. maybe it will work for others. ## Hello, Patty! How are you and your mother? It is well known that some natural nutrients can help lower cholesterol levels, so she was definitely doing something right. And thank for posting this for others, those Statin drugs can cause some problematic side effects, so not everyone can take them! Is there anything I can help with?

I used to look at a word and the spelling looked either correct or not. Now often I cannot recognise if a word is correctly spelt by looking at the spelling. I have discussed this with my UK GP and come off the drug and this problem appears to have improved after just a few days. I've Googled this problem and cannot find anything. Anybody in the USA experienced this problem please? Stewart. ## I haven't seen any reports of such issues, but it's hard to say how any medication may affect any particular person that takes it and I really wouldn't be surprised at much of anything from the Statin class of drugs. After having heart skips or chest pressure and not being able to take statin drugs, since I was alergic to them.(I had a fever and vomiting for 24 hours), I heard that magnesium relaxes arteries, It stopped the chest pressure and heart skips. I use about 3 or 4 pills a day. It also helps with constipation since I have to take narcotics for pain. I hope this helps someone. Magnesium is very low priced at Walmart. Also, if you are on statins, make sure you take CO Q10, 50 to 100 mg because the statins take that out of your body and your heart needs it for a strong beat. ## I want tablets with 1000 mg of calcium 500 mg magnicium and 1000 iu of d3 Ple inform 3 good brands with price if available ## What dose of Magnesium are you taking? Does Difen injection give breath failur ? she's 80 and she's taking heat & presure drugs with these injections. ## I haven't found any specific details stating that this drug could cause breath failure, but I did come across information linking 'asthma' as an allergic reaction to the drug. Aside from the potential side effects of Defin (Metamizole), it could also be that she is taking drugs that don't interact well together. Perhaps depression of the central nervous system took place, due to taking a blood pressure drug with another type of "downer", such as Defin. But one would have to go to a doctor to confirm this. Since Defin has been banned in many countries, you may even want to consider asking her doctor about other, safer alternatives to the d...

what is the difference between zocor and lipitor Doc changing me from one t the other ## Many doctors think all the statin drugs are about the same except for potency. (Lipitor about twice as potent as Zocor.) Quoted from an Older Article Below: 'The Food and Drug Administration approved the drug atorvastatin (Lipitor), which research suggests is more potent than the older statins. At its highest dose, atorvastatin may confer a slight advantage in reducing LDL for those with very high cholesterol. For most people, the lowest standard dose of atorvastatin is sufficient to help achieve target cholesterol levels. Why atorvastatin is more potent is not completely clear. Atorvastatin has a longer period of action than older stating, which may be why this drug produces similar reductions ...

I just need to identify what pill this is. ## A white oval tablet with A10 on one side and APO on the other side is most likely Atorvastatin Calcium 10mg (NDC 60429-323). It is a generic for Lipitor and is part of the "statin" drugs for lowering cholesterol. Below is an image: Now, I said "most likely", because there is another drug with a different NDC code which is coming up as having the same imprint codes. That tablet is Alendronic Acid 10mg (NDC 60505-2593), which is an osteoporosis drug. Sorry but I don't have a picture for this one. The way you could tell WHICH one it is would be to measure the tablet. If it is 9mm wide then it's the first one. If it's a bit smaller at 6mm then it's the second one. I hope this info helps!
