So a friend of mine started taking home 2 weeks of the pill form of Methadone witch is called Methadose it's a 40mg wafer. It directly from a clinic and he drops it in water let's it dissolve and drinks it. It lasts him all day but notices it makes him very tired. He's been on it for a little over a year now. I'm just trying to figure out why he's ALWAYS so tired after work he usually takes an hour or two nap on the back porch and he says it's because the methadose makes him super tired after a long day at work. I thought this would of ran its course by now especially after a year plus of being on it. He's tried to up his dose by double and he's tried lowering it by almost half but either way he stays SUPER tired. Has anyone felt with this or been thru th...

Been taking 40 mg methadone daily for 6 -7 years for pain management . Some reason my meds came up short this month and I've had to lower my dose in half to make it to my refill day. I'm feeling like crap being this is 3rd day and have 3 more to go until I can refill my script just would think keeping methadone in your system you wouldn't get sick , I've even taken a few Extra norco for break threw pain and also take Ativan for anxiety I really thought I could take a few extra of my other meds to stop the yucky feeling I just take the 20 mg methadone in morning. Should I take 10 mg in morning and 10 mg in afternoon ? As it is now , I'm not getting my second dose Wish I would had never started this medicine , it's great for pain management but it's just a scar...

if i take a methadone in the morning then do an oxy later will i still get high on the oxy ## Doubledizzle..How many MG's of methadone are you taking? Methadone will block any other narcotic if you are taking it for addiction, if you are taking it for pain, you are likely taking a lot smaller dose, so the methadone won't block other opiates unless you take them together, and that is just a guess on my part. When I started Methadone Maintenance, it took a long time to find my blocking dose, so if you are on it for addiction, it takes time, keep working on it with your doctor at the clinic,. If you are taking it for pain. this doesnt apply Pat ## Doubledizzle, why are you wanting to get high on oxy?? Pat

I have been on methadone for about 3 weeks now. I started at 30 and I a currently on 60. The problem that is bothering me is that I am tired and will nod a lot. Is this just because I just started this program or is my dose to high??? ## I have been on Methadone for over 10 years now. if I knew then what I know now I wouldn't be on such a high dose as I currently am. If you're nodding, then your dose is a little too high. My suggestion to you is to cut back 5 or 10 mg a day and see how that works. I promise you, the higher you go the harder it is to get off meth. If you are really serious about being drug free, develop a good relationship with a PCP (Personal Care Physician) and let him know what’s going on with you. That way you can strategize as to what the best detox ap...

I've been on methadone for 260 days. I got up to 90. I then tapered down 2 a day until I got to 60. Then went down 5 every Monday. I took 20 on monday at 6am and haven't had anything since. It's now thursday. My withdraws were s****y but now are getting a bit better NOT worse. Can I start my suboxone yet? It's been over 72 hours since my last methadone dose. Please help!! ## According to commentary in related threads here, the overall consensus significantly varies as to how long one should wait before taking suboxone after methadone. Many people have suggested waiting a minimum of 72 hours (3 days) due to methadone's long half life. Others have stated that they were fine waiting only 10 hours. I suppose only you and your prescribing doctor can be your best judge of ...

I'm looking to stop using Methadone. I currently use 60mg methadone and was wondering how many mg of MSIR i would need to take a day so that I do not get uncomfortable. I need to stay on the MSIR for 12 days before I can start Ibogaine therapy. how many mg of MSIR is Equal to 60mg of Methadone..does anyone know the facts? ## Not being a patient I can't pretend that I know all the facts, but to be honest it sounds like you should probably consult with your doctor first about achieving proper conversion rates between methadone and MSIR (morphine) before attempting to take an "equal" dose based on these comments alone. However, I did want to share a PDF page I came across that discusses conversion rates in more specific detail. Apparently when you go from methadone to morph...

Ive been on 160mg of methadone for 2 years but i cant Feel it at all, if i switch to subutex will i feel Them? ## @drew, According to The National Alliance of Advocates for Buprenorphine Treatment (naabt.org), it is recommended that patients slowly reduce their Methadone dosage down to 30mgs for a period of at least a week, BEFORE attempting to discontinue it completely - AND THEN waiting at least 36 hours before starting Buprenorphine. They also go on to emphasize that patients "MUST" be in a mild to moderate state of withdrawal before taking their first dose of Buprenorphine. That said, I would just encourage you to follow these protocols down to the 'T' as well as asking your doctor for their opinion in case minor adjustments need to be made to fit your specific situa...

WHICH IS BETTER? I have been on a dose of 150mg of Methadone for approx. 8 or so years. I just recently heard of this drug Buprenorphine which is taken instead of Methadone. Does anyone know if this line of treatment is better or worse than Methadone treatment for Opiate Addicts such as myself? Thank You Very Much ## I used to be addicted to oxycontins, I started taking methadone but figured it wasnt any better for me than the oxy's. The buprenorphine is probably a better way for you to go. I am now on suboxone. They started me off with a med called subutex and you take it for the first three days and then they switch you to suboxone they are two different meds. One blocks only one receptor and the other blocks both. To get high, you need these two receptors to be open to feel the d...

I'm a 38 year old addicted to pain pills for about 20 years. My husband passed away this year Feb 14. That's when my addiction got way out of hand. I was taking lortab 10 about 30 og them a day or I would take percocet 10 or roxicet 30. I started methadone treatment last Tuesday. Started off at 20mg. They have bumped me up to 40 mg yesterday. I'm now sick to my stomach and very sleepy. Is this from the increase? The nutse said to give it a couple days if I'm still not feeling good then I can talk about lowering the dose. The problem with that is I feel the withdraw and I crave pills. Jas anyone else have problems like this when going up on methadone? In the past I have used suboxene onlu to fail at it twice and going back to lortabs. I know methadone is very strong and v...

Is it ok to take lyrica 6hrs after taking 10 mg of methadone. ## Hi, Tony! How are you? Contrary to what many people think, Lyrica is not a narcotic or analgesic of any type. It actually contains the active ingredient Pregabalin, which is an anticonvulsant that can help with some types of nerve pain, due to its action on brain chemicals. Learn more Lyrica details here. And I didn't find any interactions listed between the two, but you should double check with your doctor or pharmacist to be certain. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Unless I'm mistaken Lyrica IS a schedule 4 drug. So while it's not an opiate it can definitely make you goofy, especially at high doses, especially if you are just starting it. ## Yes at first the doses are very strong. I have taken Meth...

nuvigil and methadone do not mix. nuvigil blocks the methadone. In current PDR. ## I believe you are correct. I take Nuvigil for narcolepsy and have started over past few weeks with low dose 20mg methadone for pain. When recently I got my new Nuvigil prescription, the past few days, I have felt dizzy, nauseas after two to four hours of taking it. It may be do to extremely fast elimination of methadone and because of the low dosage I am taking(20mg of methadone) which isn't alot but used for pain, it seems to block almost all of the analgesic, and pain activating mechanisms of methadone. Why this isn't discussed more and should be? Underground world of pharmaceutical industries, greed, money making machines that could care less about understanding and COMMUNICATING with cephalon ...

I won't make it till then. Im weak when it comes to my drug of choice when i feel this way. I hope i can gwt a answer soon. Please and thank you ## Hello Kailli, First and foremost my suggestion is for you to contact your doctor and explain the situation and see what their instructions are. They will be the best person to give you directions. Below I have put together some information that may help you short term. According to the Zubsolv website you should only start administering the medication when you are in full blown withdraw from the methadone because the medications are going to cancel each other ...

My wife has been dealing with my H addiction for years. I've done everything you can think of to make her not trust me I've started treatment at a Methadone clinic and I've been sticking to the program for the last almost 2 months and if you knew me that is a big step my dose right now is 100mg and it controls all my cravings and sickness but my wife wanted me to stop at 80 but cravings would still bother me sometimes and I would still get a little withdrawal symptoms at night so I told her I stopped at 80 but I didn't she thinks that I went up to make myself feel high and that I'm doing the Methadone just like H I know that I shouldn't have lied and now that I did it doesn't help me show her that I'm tired of that life I want nothing more than to be a so...

How do I loose the weight I have gained on methadone? I am 5'2" and almost 180lbs. I have NEVER weighed this much not even during my only time being pregnant. So I take 150mg per day of methadone and I am desperate to get this weight off or even jump start my metabolism back up. Before the methadone my top weight was NEVER over 115 lbs. Please help me!!! ## Hello, Susie! How are you? I'm very sorry about the weight issue. However, most people don't lose any, unless their dose is lowered, or they completely come off of Methadone. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Do you watch your diet and get lots of exercise...

i am starting on suboxone next week...one of these messages says never tell the suboxone doctor you were at one time on methadone..why is that so,if it is ? ## I've never heard anyone say such a thing, nor have I read it anywhere. I am guessing it may have come from someone that was abusing it, rather than using it for treatment. There are many people who have successfully switched from Methadone treatment to Suboxone treatment to finally beat their addiction problems. With Methadone, they usually end up needing a lifetime maintenance dose and never get completely drug free. This is not true, however, of the Suboxone and for proper treatment, you should always be honest with your doctor. Please post back and let us know how you are doing! ## iv been to several suboxone doctors and i...

I've been on methadone for 7 years now, I was at 160 mg and I am now at 60 mg and going down still. I only wish I knew the horrid side effects and other issues that came with this medication before I ever took the first dose! Detoxing is not bothering me thus far thank God but I'm going down real slow bc I want to not bc I have to or I've done anything wrong. I just wanna be clean n sober and lose the 30 pounds I gained and feel like me again. Reading everyone's posts I am terrified! I had bad RLS before I got on a MMT so I know that's gonna be horrid. I'm thankful for it in a way bc it got me out of the life I was barely living but I traded one demon for another and wish I had more knowledge before I started on this stuff! It's truly not something I would of...

Hi ! I was addicted to opiates for three years due to several work comp surgeries, I chose to use methadone to get off the pills ,now it was been a year since I started the methadone and I am ready to titrate down and just get away from it all!! Can anybody tell me what I am going to feel lIke, will I have withdrawal symptoms the whole time?? I take 100m a day, I'm a little scared of how I'm gonna feel, can somebody help??? ## It is very hard to say. Methadone is known to create severe withdrawal symptoms, that's why most people never actually get off of it and end up on a lifetime maintenance dose. Thus, any attempted tapering off of it must be done very, very slowly and can take a good period of time. Have you considered getting medical assistance? ## Yes I get it through ...

I am on 20ml of methadone and my roommate accidentally spilled the bottle. Now, I'm out of luck with my daily dose. However, he suggested taking dilaudid in order to prevent me from getting sick. The question is, how many dilaudid 2's would it take to make up the difference so I'm not sick? ## U won't withdrawal from missing 1 day, i was on methadone for a few years and i missed 3 days b4 without any opiates and was fine. It's after the 3rd or 4th day u will start feeling it ## I've been on 100mgs of methadone daily for 10+yrs & don't let anyone LIE & say u won't have any withdrawal symptoms of only 1 day missed of methadone that ur body is "used" to EVERYDAY b/c u will. About Me & A Question: After I stopped taking Dilaudid (prescribed) I got violently ill, freaked out and found myself at a for-profit methadone clinic. I was there for 6 months, my highest dose was 45 mg but I spent the majority of it at 30 mg. Even though I earned 3 take homes, I became VERY sick of driving in there 4 days a week and paying $450/month ($15 per day) and I wasn't there for the right reasons (because I freaked out from the previous withdrawal) so I started my detox and totally ignored their suggested schedule and did it my way (much faster). I've read nothing but horror stories about coming off methadone and the greedy people at my clinic told me I should drop 1 mg every 1-2 weeks. I dropped by 5 mg from 45mg until 20mg where I stayed for a month, then jumped ...

Been on Methadone for many years via a pain clinic. I am 66. I take 50 mg. daily. and was stable and reasonably pain free until this year. I fell and broke 5 ribs on two different occasions and a slight fractured hip and torn muscles on a third fall. These falls happened while training protection dogs. For about 8-9 months I was taking about 60 mgs. of oxycodone on top of the methadone with no effect on pain - ouch!. Now, the pain is gone from the falls but I am in withdrawal and feel very sick - I think. I started to take an additional 10 mgs. methadone but it's not helping - it's been about 10 days since last dose of oxycodone. At the same time I came down with a stomach bug or was that withdrawal? Would you know how long it will take for my body to adjust to 60mgs methadone (n...
