Start New Pack A Week Late

I am currently taking Tri Sprintec but currently ran out of refills. I was suppose to start my new pack sunday night but didn't get them until today which is wednesday. Should I start the new pack now or just wait until this sunday coming up to take them? ## You can start them, at any time, but it will take a week of taking the active pills, before they are effective at preventing pregnancy, so in the meantime, you should use a backup method of contraception. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, breakthrough bleeding, mood swings, and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

question: i am a sunday starter but i didnt get to start the new pack until monday. and i misunderstood how to take them. instead of taking 2 on mon (both sun and mons) i threw sundays away and just started with monday. AND during the active pills i also lost one completly. if i am to get my period, and i was a day late starting the pack, should it come one day early or late? ## just go on w/ your schedule.......... & use a condom too PLEASE!! ## Yes, you should use a back-up means of birth control, until you have been on the pills continuously for several weeks, without missing any. As to when your period will start, it all depends on how your body reacts to missing the pill, you may even start now, or at least have some spotting/breakthrough bleeding. Do you have any other questio...

I have been taking Ortho-tricyclene or the generic Tri-Sprintec for years & years but here recently instead of starting my period on Wednesdays, its Friday or even sometimes Saturday. Should I still start my new pack on Sunday????/ ## Yes it will regulate after the first month you start taking it if no ask your health care provider to switch you to another birth control pill if you think it's serious that you start it on the same day every month... I missed 2 blue pills in week 3 of my pack. I normally take them at night. I forgot to take pills Sat night and Sunday night. I remembered Monday morning and took both, then took Monday's pill Monday night and have continued with the pack. I now see that I should have thrown out the pack after missing two and started fresh. I had intercourse at the start of my week 4 pills - should I be concerned about pregnancy? ## Hello, Danielle! How are you? Yes, if you missed pills there is an increased risk of pregnancy. Usually, they instruct you to wait and see if your period is late and, if it goes 7 days or more late, then to have it checked out, unless your doctor instructs otherwise. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headac...

My period is very regular starts 28 days apart like clockwork. Have a big romantic trip and want it to not start on my trip. So Dr. gave me Lo Loestrin Fe 26 pill pack samples to try. My trip is Nov 11-18 with my period to start on the 15th. My next period is due to start Sept 20. How and when should I take the pills. There is no risk of pregnancy... tubes tied ## You should just be able to skip the last four pills and start a new pack. This should prevent you from having a period that month. At the end of the new pack you'll have you period like normal. I had to do this for my wedding. I just skipped a period so basically I went seven weeks between a period. ## Hi! Im running a marathon on nov 4 and just got loloestrin. I started last night and my last period was aug 30. So will th...

This is my second month to take Tri Sprintec. Do I need to use backup for seven days when starting a new pack since taking the white pills is like taking nothing at all? If not, I usually take my pills at 8 but I started my new pack 4 hours late today; will that be a problem? ## Hello, MissAnn! How are you? No, you only need the backup contraceptive for the first week you start them, when either new to taking them, or after having taken a break from taking them. And no, again. Taking a pill late, occasionally, is fine. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank You so much and that is all I wanted to know. ## You're very welcome! ...

I suffer from fibromyalgia (for years) amungst other muscle and joint diseases, and have always taken Lyrica, which has greatly helped. Last week I saw a specialist and he decided to keep me on the Lyrica but added Savella. He said it was new and approved for fibro. What he did NOT tell me was that it is an anti depressant. I cant take anti depressants because every single one of them causes ab adverse reaction in me. After 3 days of being on Savella, I began to feel like I was getting the flu. When I woke up on day 4 I thought I had the flu for sure, but later that day, after taking my morning dose of the starter pack, I noticed blood in my underwear, which was weird because I no longer have a uterus to bleed from. (partial hystorectomy, still have my ovarys but thats it) The blood was...

I started Loloestrin fe last month. It went as it was supposed to and then I started the second pack. At the end of week two I started my period. I am halfway through week 3 and my period is still going strong. I have always had a very regular cycle and never experienced anything like this with other pills. I did forget a pill and take it in the morning two days in a row. I am guessing that is why this is happening??? However, why is it not stopping? What should I do? Should I start a new pack? Will I just have to continue to have my period for the next week and a half? ## Hello, Chloe! How are you? Yes, you are most likely correct on the reason this is happening, though it's always best to check with your doctor to be sure. But, by missing pills and taking them late, you can throw ...

I am on lo leostrin fe for about 6 months. Always took my pills on time at 9am.I started a new pack 2 weeks ago. The first week, I took my pill late every day. Some days like at 8pm and some days 3pm. I am having loose stool, period cramps, sore breasts and nausea. Could i be pregnant? (Its too eraly to test) ## Hello, Molly! How are you? Generally, there's a 12 hour window for taking it, before it's considered a late pill and a 24 hour window, before it's considered a missed pill. Thus, if you didn't actually miss any, there's not much of a risk of pregnancy. The side effects you've mentioned are known effects from taking hormonal contraceptives, according to the FDA. You may also experience irritability, headache, and PMS-like symptoms. However, if you are conce...

I am currently taking Tri-Sprintec. I started my first round this past Tuesday. Today, a week and day later I started my period. My physiccian said it was fine to start the doese before the Sunday and 1st day rule. My question is now that I'm on my period do I keep taking the blue pills (I have 13 left) Or do I start taking the white pills? Thanks! ## You should continue taking the active pills (blue) just as you are and then take the inactive (white) exactly when you are supposed to take them at the end of the pack. Learn more oral contraceptive details here. Break through bleeding, such as starting at an odd time, can be normal when you are new to taking hormonal contraceptives, since your body has to get used to them. Are there any other questions?

I started taking Tri-Sprintec about 3 months ago. After the 3rd month I wasn't able to get to the pharmacy for almost a week or a week and a half in between packets so when I started the new packet it was very late in my cycle. Now I'm about to start the 3rd week of pills and this is the time I regularly have my period. I'm late by a day now (but my periods aren't normally regular to the day) but i was just wondering, since i started the packet so late, should I expect my period to come during the white pills? ## When you're taking hormonal oral contraceptives, such as this one, your period is actually induced by a withdrawal of the hormones, so you won't have one, until you start taking the inactive pills for a day or two. Many women actually use this as a way t...

I've been taking my sprintec consistently for the first two weeks but I'm on my.. 3rd week I've been so stressed with mid terms that I missed my pills by an hour or two on some days and I was also wondering if that would affect my chances of not getting pregnant? Also when I start a new pack is there a chance I can change the time I take my pills I currently take them at 4pm but morning time with the rest of my pills will benefit me ## Hello, Nunu! How are you? According to NIH details, you have a window of about 12 hours, before it's considered a late pill and 24 hours, before it would be considered a missed pill, so you should be fine. However, there is never any harm in checking for pregnancy, if you are concerned. Yes, there is no reason you can't switch the time...

hi. So i just took one placebo but do not want to get my period this week because something special was already planned. Should i just start a new pack right away since i have not gotten my period yet? will that still keep me protected? ## HI, Lenna! If you've already taken one of the placebo pills, then you will most likely still start your cycle in a day or two, there's really no way to prevent it now. In the future you could do that to skip your period, just keep taking active pills and toss out the placebos, as long as your doctor approves, but it's a bit to late right now. Any break from the active tablets, even just one day, can allow for a withdrawal bleed to occur. Is there anything else I can help with?

So I just found out after 5 months into taking this birth control that the white pills are active. I didn’t take the white pills last month and had my period and then started my new pack but also did unprotected intercourse during the first week of the new pack. Now by the end of the pack, I only took one white pill and my period didn’t come. And I just now started my new pack and my period still didn’t come. Also there were some times that I took some pills late by an hour or two and did have some spotting during the 3rd week of the pack and one single spotting during the white pillbut that’s it. And no more bleeding after that. Could I be pregnant? ## Sorry I didn’t mention this before but I’ve been taking lo loestrin fe the past 5 months. And would...

I have beent aking this pil for about two months to stop my period while on vacation. The first month I was taking I missed ONE day and then my period started the next day. I continued to take the pill for about a week after as I was unsure if I should stop. I finally stopped taking that week later and let my period finish up. The Sunday after my period stopped I started a new pack. I stopped taking that pill on the last day of taking ( 3 week pills) as I was ready to get my period started. I should have started my period two days later but here I am a FULL WEEK later and no period. Pregnancy tests are coming up negative but no period in site! I am getting nervous! Is this normal? Meanwhile I am just exhausted, moody and my breasts are sore! ## Hi, Erin! How are you? Some women do skip ...

I've been on loestrin 24fe since the beginning of September. My pill did not get delivered on time so I took it a week late since I am a Sunday starter. I just got my period and have one brown pill left for tomorrow and next time I am due for my period (July 12) I do not want it then because I have something on the 13th and the second day is always my heaviest. What should I do to not get my period then? Should I wait a week to take my white pills like what happened last month or just skip my brown pills next month and start a new pack? By the way I have never had a problem with my pill and even after having to restart my period came right on time as it usually does. ## Hi, Allison! To skip your period and still be protected against pregnancy, you'd need to continue taking the a...

Will I definitely get my period on the last week of the Tri Lo Sprintec pills? That's the white pills in my pack. ## There is no way to say you definitely will. You should get it that week, however, there are many reasons a woman may skip a period or start late. How long have you been taking them? Do you normally start your period on time? ## I have been on Tri-Lo-Sprintec for about 9 months now and yes like many other women have been experiencing major anxiety issues, but what I want to know is, is it normal to be later or miss a period on the pill? I have started as late as a Thursday in the week but usually start on Wednesday. Is it possible? ## I've been taking Tri-Lo Sprintec now for almost a year, but this month I have not gotten my period. I have to start my new pack tomo...

Hi There, I have been on Oralcon now for almost a year now. A couple days ago I was taking the red pills and I noticed I missed the last one. I took it 24 hours later with the first white one of the new pack. My question is will I be affected by missing one of the red pills? Will this decrease its effectiveness against preventing pregnancy? ## Hi, Megs! How are you? The red pills at the end of the pack are just placebo tablets that contain no active hormones, they are just meant to allow you to have a withdrawal bleed that week, so there is no harm in missing them. The sole reason they are included is to keep women in the habit of taking a pill each day, so they don't forget when it's time to start the new pack. So no, missing one or more of those ones doesn't matter, you do...

Well crap. I missed the last white pill. The brown are placebos so im bot worried. Im on my period now, so Im not preg (yay!)... but should I start the next pack now, or two (brown pill) days from now? ## Hello, Sara! How are you? You should start the new pack on the normal day, unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. That late in your cycle, the chances of it having allowed ovulation to occur are very slim, but you should use backup protection for the first 7 days of the new pack, just to be safe. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi...I'm new to bc...should I expect my period the week I'm schedule to take to white and brown pills? ## Hi guys, I've been taking Lo Loestrin Fe for about 3 months. I forgot to take the last blue pill last night @ 9:00. I had unprot...

Rather than wait another month I started first pack of Lo Loestrin Fe 2 days after my period ended (started Sunday). Then I started spotting lightly 2 weeks later (very dark brown and very light). Then another week later I got my period which was this past Saturday. It's now Wednesday and the period is very heavy in the am and then almost goes away all day and then heavy again at night. Is this normal? I feel like it's going to go on forever. Normally my period is 3-4 days max and super heavy which is why I started Lo Loestrin. ## Hello, Kimber! How are you? Yes, according to the FDA, such breakthrough bleeding can be normal and may occur, off an on, for the first 3 months, after starting a new oral contraceptive. Other side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizzi...
