I have been taking 50 mg twice a day of metoprolol tartrate since May. Doc wants to double the dose all at once...200 mg a day because BP was elevated a little (from a panic attack, I believe). So the 50 mg scored pills were a pink pill. The 100 mg pills are blue scored pills. If I am too afraid to double the dose all at once, is cutting the scored 100 mg tablet the same as two 50 mg tablets? I do have panic/anxiety disorder and med phobia..thats why I am too afraid to double the dose all at once, especially because of the side effects I had when I started the 50 mg tablets...i.e., anxiety, nervouness, dizziness. I started taking kin tablets for the past one month but am seeing no significant reduction in the level of blood pressure measurement. I.E. it was 160/105 when started taking kin tabs. It came down to 139/91 two weeks ago. Today it measured 160/105, 154/102, and 155/101. ## What dosage are you taking and how often do you take them? And when are you checking it? Is it immediately after activity? After you're eating? And how close together in time are you checking it? As reported by the NIH, all of these factors can affect your readings, at any given time. Do you also eat a healthy, low salt and low fat diet? Do you make sure to get plenty of exercise? Are you on any other medications?

I have been taking thyronorm 25 mg for the past 3 years and now my BP is 160 -100 most of the time. I wake up in the morning with headaches and pain in my left arm. My Dr advised me taking orlistat 120 for weight management and xtem and olmator 20. I am not sure if i should start these medications, though it is two weeks now and i am taking mukta vati and medhavati. ## I am 78 years old, taking Thyrox 25 for the past one year due to high BP. Prior to this was taking Losaran 50 twice daily, but since I started thyroid medicine my BP has gone down. Sometimes it comes down to as low as 102/54. I also take 4 tablets of Tidomet plus 125. My wife, 58 years old started taking 3 years back Gluconorm PG2, 2 tablets per day (one each in the morning and evening). She is taking Lorem 2.5 1 tab. per day along with Gluconorm PG2 . 21/2 years back, her blood pressure started coming down . when consulted, the Doctor asked to reduce the strength of Lorem to 1.25 and subsequently stopped using it. Gluconorm PG2 was also reduced to 1 tablet per day since last 6 months. During the last 1 1/2 years, she has put on weight and started heavy pain and swelling on her left arm near the shoulder. I have been taking candestartan for several years starting at 4mg and then halving the tablets to 2 mg and with consultation with my GP along with some lifestyle changes have agreed to stop altogether with close blood pressure monitoring. So far BP is 120/70 most days and all is well apart from a background headache which doesn't seem to go away. Could this be due to the stopping of the medication? The itching started a few weeks after starting the treatment and became more noticeable with time. I have stopped the tablets and have taken an anti-histamine, which seems to help. The low blood pressure (76/59) issue following my regular runs (4 miles) may not be directly attributable to Lercanidipine (10mg) because I also take Losartan (50mg). I have tried other BP meds - all with side effects, including one that produced swollen ankles with small pink spots. I've seen that people in the USA have started to get the new 8mg tablets which are smaller than the old 8mg one's and these were introduced in England as the old tablets were being abused. So they made the new pill smaller believing it would dissolve quicker but they were easier to hide and people had more risk of OD. What is the max dose of Lisinopril tablets. One doctor said 40mg and another said 80mg with only 50% of one kidney, Please advise. ## I am taking lisinopril /hctz 20/25. I have been taking metoprolol tartrate 50 mg 2x a day for a while now, my doctor just told me to now start taking 2 tablets in the morning and 1 in the evening. I am concerned that 150 mg per day is too much. Can u tell me if this is not a safe dosage or if its ok to take that much? my blood pressure usually runs around 140/85 to 158/92 ## Hello, Rhonda! How are you? I understand your concern, that does seem to be a high amount…but it actually isn't for this medication. Metoprolol can be taken in amounts up to 450mgs a day and it is usually started at the 50mg twice daily dosing, then adjusted until the desired effect is reached, which in your case would be lower blood pressure.
