My thirteen year old son(140 lbs) had a strong bacterial infection involving his salivary glands. His face was very swollen. In order to avoid hospitalization(IV), the doctor prescribed avalox. He finished it 2 days ago. When is it safe to return to bball(his passion) w/out risk to his tendons? This is his life and he is distraught. He is an integral part of 2 teams, but we obviously do not want to compromise his health. ## I suggest speaking to his doctor about this, that way you will get advice on the safest time frame. ## i am a 57 y/o female with polycyctic kidney disease post transplant jul 5 2000 and i have been on predisone ever since. I'm a 21 year old, female athlete. I had surgery on my left knee (3rd one) after tearing my meniscus in December. Recovered quickly and started PT within a week after surgery. A couple months after, my calf started to swell to an abnormal size and I had pain in the back on my knee through my calf. I also started to get chest pains and dizziness. Saw a few doctors - some thought I had a Baker's cyst and didn't think the swelling was bad. Even got an EKG to rule out any heart problems, everything came back normal. It wasn't until my trainer sent me to get an ultrasound in February that they found a DVT in my femoral vein. Sent me for a CAT scan and found that it broke off and "showered" around both lungs. Immediately started me on xarelto, which gave the worst side...

Athletes help??? ## Hello, Billy! How are you and your friend? I'm not an athlete, but I can tell you that Risperdal can cause some very problematic side effects, as listed by the FDA, such as severe somnolence and weight gain, so it can really slow the body down and make it harder to maintain stamina and good physical function. Other side effects may possibly include drowsiness, sedation and dry mouth. Is there anything else I...

Is divon cr recommended for a sports injury such as a groin injury? i have had the injury for over a month now ## Divon CR contains a time released formulation of Diclofenac, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that's used to treat pain, fever and swelling. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach irritation. Learn more Divon CR details here. It really depends on the specifics of the injury. What has your doctor advised?

Please tell me some information regarding Sports-Doping i.e this tab. is safe or not for sports players. ## Enractin contains Bromelain 90 mg, Rutoside trihydrate 100 mg and Trypsin 48 mg. It is used to aid in digestion; and is manufactured by Molekule, outside of the U.S. I don't see any information that correlates this pill to Sport Doping; nor do I see any reason why it would be considered unsafe. These all seem to be natural ingredients/digestive enzymes extracted from whole foods or plants. Bromelain: Rutoside trihydrate: Trypsin: Do you have any other questions or comments concerning this pill? Please post back if you do.

Hi, I have a couple chronic sports related injuries and a new issue in my neck causing some referred nerve pain into my head. I started cymbalta about 7 weeks ago, it has helped tremendously in my mood and depression, and maybe a little bit so far for my pain, so I am hesitant to stop it just yet. I recently had a 45 min Lidocaine/ketamine infusion, though my pain doc explained it was mostly lidocaine. He did not want to administer too much ketamine the first time. I have another scheduled in 5 weeks. It's been a day, and I certainly feel more uplifted, but it's difficult to say if the pain has improved just yet. Anyone has success with these infusions? If so, how far apart were your first few infusions? Or perhaps you didn't need more than 1?

I have chronic back pain from a sports injury several years ago. Since the suboxone tablets are being discontinued and my doctor cannot subscribe the medication for pain management any longer, he wants me to switch to fentanyl patches. My doctor is also unable to subscribe suboxone film which is replacing the tablets. How do you switch from suboxone to fentanyl patches, when suboxone blocks all opiates? Do you just stop one medication then start another one? Do you have to get off suboxone then start taking fentanyl? ## Yes, the Naloxone in the Suboxone can neutralize other opiates, so you'd have to stop taking it for several days, then start the new medication. Learn more Fentanyl details here. What type of doctor are you seeing? ## can I take suboxone and then fentynol a few hours...

Child found pill on floor of local sports center. Was wondering what it was likely to be? Small, white, round pill. Score mark on one side. R75 on other side. ## Sounds like generic ZANTAC - Ranitidine- for heartburn. ## The pill most likely has a K not an R on it. If found in gym its most likely a K75. Small round and white. Its an amphetamine

Hello Iv had a torn Achilles in the past and other sports related injuries. I'm having rotator cuff surgery in a week and the doctor won't prescribe me the oxycodone 10's until the date of surgery. I'm in decent pain how many Tylenol 4's can I take at a single time to some what match the oxycodone 10's that helped before to try and get some relief thanks in advance ## Hi George, Converting pain meds is an iffy subject, because conversion charts are merely just a guide and results can vary greatly from one individual to another based on cross tolerance levels and several other underlying personal factors. However, just to give you a ball park figure, it has been speculated/rumored that 10mg of Oxycodone equates to about 90mg of Codeine. Tylenol #4 contains 300mgs ...

Hi my son is 14 years old. He's into sports but he doesn't gain weight at all. He'll have an appetite here and there and he doesn't get much sleep. Can he take cyproheptadine to help him eat more to gain a lil weight and to get more rest? ## Hello, Locks! How are you? At that age, it would be best not to give him anything, unless his doctor approves. Giving him the wrong thing could have serious consequences. As listed by the FDA, the weight gain caused by Cyproheptadine is also just a temporary side effect, it will eventually wear off and go away entirely, especially when someone stops taking it. It sounds like his doctor needs to evaluate him, anyway, to see what's causing these issues. When was his last physical?

I have been advised knee replacement since 2005 but my Gym exercises and sports , albeit pain 24*7 doesn't allow it since I'm just 61 years old and quite healthy. Pl tell me how Orcerin GM Glucosamine Sulphate potassium Chloride, MSM & Diacerein Tabs are to be consumed .eg. with water / food / tea . Also, before / with / after food , how many a day and precautions like not taking after liquor consumption. Please compare it with Seven Seas Max Strength , which is expensive in the Euro market but has several other ingrd. like Omeage 3,6,9 , Collager, Minerals. Thanks ## On the Orcerin-GM, the only actual drug ingredient in it is the Diacerein, which is used as an anti-inflammatory, however, as to how to properly take it, I can only advise you to ask your doctor or pharmacist. ...

Gud pm.My 10 yr old son is very thin, but before he have a good body, but because he is very active in sports,i notice that he almost loss his weight...so i dont know what kind of vits i will let him take..pls help..tnx... ## Have you consulted a doctor? Has he shown any signs of being deficient in any nutrients, such as lethargy, nausea or not being as active as usual? It can be normal, especially for children his age that are very active, to experience weight fluctuations. In many cases, they will gain weight, for awhile, and have a larger appetite, which is just the body's way of preparing for them to grow. Then, when the growth spurt hits, the weight will seem to disappear and you may discover that they've grown an inch or more. This is perfectly normal and there is no need to...

Im have been taking clavamel forte 500mg/125mg twice daily for the last few days. Yesterday I was playing sports and noticed my hamstrings were extremely tight. I eventually had to stop after 10 minutes. Would this be an effect of clavamel? ## Hi, Robbie! Sorry about the problem you've been having. In some rare cases an antibiotic can cause tendon problems and you should contact your doctor immediately to have this checked out. It just isn't something you want to risk, having a tendon rupture or suffer permanent damage could cause many problems down the road. Learn more Clavamel Forte details here. I am trying to find out if this tablet is actually Tadalafil (Cialis) 20mg? It was advertised on AM radio while listening to a sports radio show. ## Hi JC, What is the color and shape of this pill you're describing? Did the radio advertisement provide any other details relating this imprint to Tadalafil (Cialis) 20mg? On a side note, my investigation yields rumors of a Tramzol (Tramadol) 50mg tablets from India with a marking of KD-375; albeit I'm unable to verify that finding. Does anyone else here recognize this pill description? ## Hi David, the pill is oval in shape, the color is beige and has a 20 on it. I’m assuming it is for the milligrams as that is what I ordered. The radio station only advertised the pharmacy‘s phone number where I purchased the pills.

This is going to sound a little crazy. I am a retired physical therapist. At 59 years old i have been very active in sports from a young age. Needless to say I have treated just about every injury that can occur in the human body over the years. Most required pain meds to endure p.t. I have always been interested in mma, so i decided to move to las vegas and train at the major gyms there. BAD mistake! After 4 years of training I was busted up. osteoarthritis and degeneration took place on a whole new level. I started taking vicodin for my shoulder, then my hip, and now for both knees. I don't even want to mention my spine. Vicodin was a huge blessing in the beginning, especially in combo with hrt. It allowed me to fight and train. It gave me energy and endurance (not typical).
