I am allergic for Sporanox, may I use Betamox? ## Hello, Cynthia! How are you? These are two different classes of medications. Sporanox is an antifungal, while Betamox is an antibiotic, so it should be fine, as long as your doctor has prescribed it. However, there is a risk that could also discover you are allergic to it. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

Needing the drug classification of Lotrizone cream and Nystatan Powder ## Lotrisone is a cream or lotion consisting of a combination of the drugs clotrimazole and betamethasone. Clotrimazole is an "anti-fungal" drug related to fluconazole (Diflucan), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), and miconazole (Micatin, Monistat). It prevents growth of several types of fungi by preventing production of the membranes that surround fungal cells. Betamethasone is a synthetic "corticosteroid" that is used topically on the skin. Corticosteroids suppress inflammation as well as the body's immune response. Nystatin powder is an "antibiotic" which is both fungistatic and fungicidal in vitro against a wide variety of yeasts and yeast-like fungi. I put quotations ar...

Can I take Tylenol with Prednisone? I have a headache and this is all I've got. ## Hi Teresa - I checked medlineplus.gov and did not see any mention of Acetaminophen (the active ingredient in Tylenol) being listed as something to avoid while taking Prednisone. I did see blood thinners, as well as Aspirin on the list. Ultimately I would place a quick call to the pharmacy just to be safe. Here is what I found: " Tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, and nutritional supplements you are taking or plan to take. Be sure to mention any of the following: amiodarone (Cordarone, Pacerone); anticoagulants ('blood thinners') such as warfarin (Coumadin); certain antifungals such as fluconazole (Diflucan), itraconazole (Sporanox),...
