I found a half of an oblong shaped white pill. it is cut in half and one side says in lowercase "ba" and the other side says 10. any idea what this could be? ## Hmmm..not knowing the full imprint makes this kind of difficult to narrow down. I've tried doing a search, but I am really not finding anything that matches this. Can you tell me if the ba would be on the pill as the beginning or last half of the imprint? Same question for the 10? Also, was this found in the U.S.?

I was taking 90 mg cap x 1 a day. Was switched to 45 mg 2 x a day. Can I just take unused 90 mg & separate evenly ? Even though time release type the spit can't be that much different in quantity. Half is half. Saw earlier that to dangerous to split but don't understand why it would be, especially if you're only actually taking a total of 90 mg a day. Thanks for any thoughts on this ## Because cutting, crushing or splitting time released tablets or capsules could cause you to get too much of the medication, at once. In this case, it may not all be evenly spread throughout and the outer coating could actually be vital to the time released mechanism. No, I understand that in your case, it may not make as big of a difference, since you were taking 90mgs at once, but doing s...

I am taking oxycodo-APAP 10-325 ,a generic for Percocet. It is an oval shape withM523 on one side and 10/325 on the other. My Dr. said I could split the pill if it is too strong. But there is no score line. Can or should this pill be spit to receive half the dosage? ## The best advice I can give is to listen to what your doctor said. From personal experience when there was no score line on a pill I would still cut in half if it was too strong and simply take half the dose. I don't think you should worry if your doctor gave you the ok to do so. After splitting the pill in half, just be sure to follow your doctors orders on when to take the pill every so many hours.

Got a 20 mg Cialis prescription. Tried to split them with my regular pill splitter but it crumbled pretty badly. Any suggestions or special splitter since they are oval shaped? Dr said to split them long ways. Does it matter? ## No, it won't matter which way you split them, the only thing I can suggest is to pick up one of the really good pill cutters that are available, your pharmacist should be able to point you to a good one. The FDA warns that the typical side effects of this medication may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, runny nose and priapism. Is there anything else I can help with?

If I split a 3 mg Lunesta and took 1/2 (1.5mg) at 10 PM and the other half (1.5mg) at 3 AM. Would that be the same as taking 3mg at the same time? Or would it just be like taking 1.5mg and 1.5mg? I would get the effect of just 1.5mg each time rather than the effect of taking 3mg at the same time. Hope I have explained this properly. ## Hello, Alice! How are you? You can't take half a pill and get the effect of taking a full one. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and funny taste in your mouth. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Can taking Lunesta 3mg cause UTI? ## I don't understand. Can Lamotrigine 150 be cut in quarters to lower the dose? I have many 150mg left and would like to use them up if I can cut into quarters. Please advise. ## Unless your doctor, pharmacist, or specific medication instructions state otherwise, it is safe to do this with any medication that isn't time released. In many cases, our doctors prescribes a higher dose for us, then just has use cut, or break the tablets, since there can be a more significant financial savings by doing so. Lamotrigine is most commonly used to help prevent seizures, and treat some types of depression. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dry mouth, diarrhea, mood changes, and weight loss. Ref: Medline Plus Lamotrigine Is there anything else I can help with?

WHAT HAPPENS IF I SPLIT THE PILL IN HALF ## My doctor prescribed 60 MG tablets and told me to cut them in half if I need 90 mg. I din't think much about it, but after reading the information on MS Contin, I am worried that it may be dangerous to cut them in half. fighting high blood pressure but want to know if it would be better to split 100mg dose to 50mg twice a day. Seems like I start the day off way behind and spend the rest of the day trying to get it down...over 100 most mornings 95 is down!! ## Yes, it can be taken that way, I split my doses, with my doctor's approval, because it works better for me that way. Generally, they only prescribe them as once daily doses because many people forget to take multiple doses throughout the day, so it's easier to keep a patient compliant, if they only have to take them once daily. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. My cardiologist even specifically prescribes mine as tablets to be cut and taken twice ...

I just started Contrave last Friday. I have really had no side effects, but because I have a narrowed esophagus, I have trouble swallowing the pill (it gets stuck). I cut the pills in half and take both halves at the same time and this makes it easier for me to get them down. My question - is this messing with the efficacy of the medicine? ## You should not split the pills. They are an extended release tablet. This is copied from the Contrave literature: Extended-Release Tablets: 8 mg naltrexone HCl /90 mg bupropion HCl CONTRAVE should be taken by mouth in the morning and in the evening. The tablets should not be cut, chewed, or crushed. Total daily doses greater than 32 mg/360 mg per day (two tablets twice daily) are not recommended. Can I break a m367generic Norco in half and take it ? ## Ask your doc first...I take half's when I am in less pain, & holes when I have brake through pain..less pill is better for you liver & whatnot. If I can take 3 & 1\2 & still control my pain....than I consider I'm doing my body a favor. But Still Ask Your Doc First!!! Before Changing your regiment!!!! ## @Yvonne, While I agree with Patrick that you should discuss this with your doctor before making any changes to an existing regimen, I will say that M367 is made to be cut in half for a divided dose. The score line (divid) on the back is what confirms this...and you'd actually use that as a guide to measure half a dose.
