Spinal Tumor

I had a hemangiopericytoma removed from my cervical spine about 6 years ago and have had nothing but problems since. I can barely move my neck, have terrible cervical headaches (occipital mainly) and cannot find relief. I have tried the gamut of pain meds, nerve pills and muscle relaxers, with no success. Tried all the therapies, alternative options and am at "my wits end". I am on Gabapentin currently and cannot stand the weight gain, dumb feeling and irritability. HELP?!!! ## I am so very sorry about how miserable you are, that's terrible. Are you seeing a specialist, such as a pain management specialist? In some cases like yours a spinal stimulator, or implanted drug infusion machines might help, according to the NIH and many will try them, once other options have been ex...

I have pseudo tumor cerebri and just got a lumbar puncture AKA a spinal tap for it. After that I was prescribed diamox to keep the pressure down and the doctor told me I shouldn't take recreational drugs such as cannabis or alcohol. Being a college student this is a bit of an issue because I'm going to be on this medication for the next 8 months or so. Does anyone know if taking cannabis or alcohol while on this is really that bad? Or if one is safer than the other? Thank you! ## Hello, Mackenzie! How are you? Marijuana has never been shown to react adversely with any prescription medication. Alcohol, however, can be problematic, because it can worsen the side effects and aggravate many medical conditions, so it is best to avoid it, while under treatment. However, it is always b...

My father was a chronic pain patient with a spinal tumor who was moved off of Oxycontin and Dilaudid to methadone. Unfortunately, after a long, log battle, he became completely paralyzed and the tumor was in the process of killing him. He asked to be terminally sedated. The doctors put him on a morphine drip, but even after they quadrupled his dose, he was still in pain and awake. Eventually, they got to 4000mg a DAY of IV morphine, and it was ineffective. We did our research, and it showed there is NO conversion rate for methadone to morphine equivalents as there is with every other opioid. In other words, just to duplicate the 30-40mg a day of morphine he was taking would have required anywhere from 240-3000mgs of morphine - forget actually sedating him. They went to something like 40...

I normally take 10 mg percocet as perscribed by my dr.for severe Tarlov tumors up and down my spine from three ruptured disks and a snapped miningeal lining of my spinal chord and three buldging disks, that i received while on active duty and a broken tail bone and 2 dislocated disks in my neck and tumors on my thyroid and other parts of my body diagnosed as abnormal. The pharmacist gave me these long yellow tablets with a v on them that are making me sick and they aren't helping much with the excruciating pain, undated of my prescribed 10mg round white percocet. They are labeled as the same drug but i am extremely sensitive to medications. Lots of allergies. What are these things. I've been projectile vomiting, but that could just be because the passion is no longer under contr...

My mom was given this drug and I want to know what it can do to her. THANKS ## This drug contains Acetaminophen + Oxycodone and is used as a narcotic pain reliever. ## I have been taking this drug for about 2 months now becaause of severe back pain caused by a spinal tumor. The biggest side effect that I have had is severe constipation. The doses that I have been given are 20mg 4 times a day, now they have cut me down to 10mg 4 times a day. Hopefully after surgery I will be free of the pain. ## i am taking oxycod/apap for chronic pain, but it seems to make me look very bloated. any help? ## I am taking oxycod for relieving the pain from having my wisdom teeth removed. It seems to upset my stomach, making me throw up. The warning label said I would become dizzy and drowsy which is true, ...

I posted this in another forum and thought to post it here. I'm so frustrated and depressed over this! I just recently found out that I have some seriously herniated disks in my neck that push pretty hard into my spinal cord plus I have a tumor. Long story short I'm right now not a candidate for surgery though I'm going for a second opinion. I'm OK with that because I'm not someone who jumps for surgery right away. Anyway, my orthopedic doctor pointed me to a pain management doctor who I called to schedule. The first thing they responded with is "for an inj." huh? I said no I'm looking to down the road to fill my medication. She then says, "no this doctor only does inj's.". I call the ortho doc back and he recommends me to another pain managem...
