Soma What Doctor Will Prescribe It

I've been taking soma / carisoprodol off and on for 22 years. When I first took it, I was told to take two 350 mg at bedtime, and it was too much and I nicknamed it Coma! Later I learned that when I first start taking soma after not taking it for a long time to only take 1/4 tab, or even a bit less. Later I can take more as needed, but starting out 1/4 or even 1/8th helps when I haven't take it for a very long time. Now I can't find a doctor who will prescribe it, I read as much as I could find and asked as many, doctors, pharmacists why, and they said various things, but it seemed to come down to the medicine has fallen out of favor because of abuse, "A considerable proportion of carisoprodol is metabolized to meprobamate" (from Wikipedia and that there is abuse. I have been taking Soma for many years, along with lorcet and over the counter ibuprophen for about 7 or 8 years. I believe it all started when I landed on top of my head and fractured my spine in the very upper part of my back, because thats when all hell broke loose. Ir was one painful thing after the otheri have also been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, however u spell that but for # years I have been getting these 3 day, cant even talk or open my eyes or do anything else headaches caused from these very painful knots in my upper back an neck and base of my scull caused from spasms making the muscle around my entire head start having spasms. bad si joint injury bacelbows and 1 shoulder.. ## There is really no way to know what any doctor may prescribe to treat pain, or an injury. You may also run into a problem if you go to a new doctor and are asking for a specific medication, because many doctors consider that to be drug seeking behavior. The best thing you can do is make sure they have all of your medical records, so they can see what has and hasn't worked for you in the past and they can base their decision on that. Does anyone know of any doctors in that area?

I went to the VA hospital on Jefferson in Jacksonville, FL and they said they dont have soma or oxy for me something I have been taken for 15 years in VA California! The just say "no it is not in our formulary" so I ask if they would script it out to CVS that does have it and they say they cant do that either! So I a without a job or resorces because i need the soma to work everyday and oxy only maybe once a week or two. I only take 2 somas a day...and then nothing else! Looking for a doctor who Prescribes soma in DFW area, preferably Garland or Plano or Richardson. I’ve been on soma for eight years through my PCP but unfortunately the practice he belongs to has closed down. I went to pain management doctor today and the charges are $500 a visit and does not prescribe some. I have mouth cancer that is very painfull and have been taking opioids/pain meds for many years. My tolerance is extremely high, so to have the meds actually work on the pain i'm needing a lot more than most. Pain management Drs in Florida are more concerned about how much THC you have in your body, rather than trying to fix the problem or give you pain meds. I'm on 10mg Roxicodone 4x a day. Ive been on Roxicodone 30 mg for 4 years and I take four of them a day plus I also take 30mg oxycontin twice a day. I just moved to Detroit and went to a knew pain dr and he put me on Percocet and Opana which does nothing considering how long I have been on my other pain meds.. just moved here two and half months ago and have had no pain care. I have a pain pump installed and was on opana and soma 120 each a month and can't get a doctor here to give me any pain meds and family doc wants me to go to pain clinic but the ones here only do injections which do absolutely nothing for me, been there done that. I have been seeing a doctor that refuses to prescribe my Percocet. I have recent MRI films that show disc degeneration, spurs, disc bulging and I have lost all of the curve in my neck. I have been on total disability since 2005.Since she substituted them with Tramadol and Soma muscle relaxants, I have been in so much pain that I cannot stand or walk for any period of time. Can anyone help me with the name of a doctor that is not afraid to prescribe soma? I understand my prescription can not cross state line. I have lower back pain deg fiscs none of the surgeons recommend this surgery however none will prescribe pain meds anyone in springfield massachusetts ## Hi Jessi, Surgery is the last option, if you only have pain in your lower back, surgery will not help. Have you and your doctor talked about muscle relaxers, like Soma or Flexeril? There are many non surgical that can help a lot. Seeing an OT doctor works wonders, using a TENS unit, steroids by mouth.
