These do not resemble the others that I had been taking from another pharmacy. ## You do have the correct medication, this does contain 500mgs of Metformin. I take 1000 mg Metformin made by Solco. There are black specks in all of the white pills and black specks left in the bottom of the bottle. The black specks do not appear inside the pills. This seems like a dirt problem in the manufacturing process. Please advise... ## Was this in a factory sealed bottle, or a bottle dispensed by your pharmacy? Wall Street Journal (Saturday, January 26th) posted an article, "Warning on Drugs For Blood Pressure" Losartan, Solco Healthcare, LLC was listed. The label on my Losartan is "NDC 43547-360-09 Losartan Potassium". The label also shows "Zhejiang, China 317024" Is this batch on recall? Also, is there a Losartan manufactured in the United States? ## Is the medication listed above on recall? ## An elevated level of a certain substance suspected of being carcinogenic was found in some of them, so they were recalled. Our pharmacy has changed the supplier to Solco's Valsartan. It has very strong odor, as of an aromatic compound. It doesn't control the blood pressure very well. Just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced the same? Worried about this issue. I have already complained with the pharmacy. They are going to change them. I wonder what is causing the odor. ## Hello, Zoe! How are you? Actually, most medications do have an odor, but some manufacturers use an outer coating, to keep people from smelling them. However, there are some companies that don't, and when you suddenly receive one of them from your pharmacy, it can seem odd. What have your blood pressure readings been, while taking it? Solco is horrible! I was forced to try it after Accord for migraine relief and I felt like I was swimming through jello in a fog. I took it for almost a month until it occurred to me that my problems started with Solco. I have chronic pain and fatigue, so i thought at first I was in a flare-up from something, then I considered a virus or infection, as it got worse by the day and I realized as I lay in bed whimpering in pain and thought I was dying, I thought, it HAS to be this Solco. I had some Mylan left (which has been discontinued), so yesterday I switched back and today I am a different person! The marked difference is incredible. I actually think I was going through a withdrawal syndrome. I have never had a benzo do that to me, ever and I've been on Mylan and Caraco for years! ...

I have been taking brand name Avapro for years, but now that it has gone generic Theexpense has become astronomical. Thinking about going generic ...however worried about side effects. Any generic version I should be aware of? I am so leary of generics and the fillers and overseas manufacturers. ## Hi Henrietta, Based on my research Avapro made by Solco healthcare U.S. is based out of Cranbury, New Jersey. It appears that this is where their headquarters is located according to the company's webpage. You are right though about generics being a little iffy when it comes to the fillers and side effects. However there's really no way to know for sure how any generic/brand is going to effect you until you try it. If you're used to taking the brand name, it would probably be easi...

I have been on Losartan 50mg by Camber for years. I had my prescription filled and got the Solco brand at Walgreens. For 3 weeks, I could barely function, terrible cough, backache, anxiety and nervousness. This stuff was poison. Stopped it for 4 days....symptoms started to disappear. Got the Camber brand through mail order again and things are going back to normal. Anyone else have anything similar happen? ## The symptoms you've described can be normal side effects of Losartan, according to FA reports. Other side effects may also include hypotension, increased urination, heartburn, and leg pain. Rose colored tablet with SLC 222 on one side & blank on the other, claimed to be Levetiracetam 500 mg generic for Keppra. Another problem with generic not feeling my normal self as with Watson mfg. After two weeks I'm irritable moody cry easily and problems sleeping...don't dare to be sociable. Same problems as the generic Sunco... Why aren't these regulated better? This is my life. ## Hello, Laura! How are you? Under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, generics are allowed to differ from the name brand, in the amount of the active ingredient, by as much as plus or minus 20%. However, they do not have to measure against each other, only against the name brand. This was done to help bring generics to market faster, in hopes of keeping prices lower. The FDA considers this an acceptable therapeutic window and, for most people, it doesn't cause a problem. But some people are sensitive to medications ...

I had a heart attack 6 months ago and my doctor put me on Carvedilol 6.25 mg. My pharmacy used the pills made by Solco Healthcare. I have been taking TEVA clonazepam .5 for years and it was very effective! Now I hear that TEVA does not make it anymore. I was prescribed it via ACCORD mfg with very poor results... headaches, nervous, and more. I hear that the are also SOLCO and AVTIVIS mfg. I need some input re which one would be better... or any others. I heard that the inactive ingredients have a lot to do with it. I also know ACCORD is made in China and have heard some horror stories about their clonozepam. ANY INPUT GREATLY APPRECIATED!! ## Hi Johnny, You're spot on about the inactive ingredients having a lot to do with the medication efficacy. What is the country of origin for METFORMIN HCL 500MG tablet SOLCO 43547-0248-50? Is it approved by American standards of manufacturing? My pharmacy, in the last year, no longer has Metformin HCL in its warehouse - too expensive, I understand. Therefore I am unable to get my prescription filled there. My problem is that I cannot - literally - stomach any other manufacturer's inactive ingredients. The diarrhea is continuous - all day long, and into the night. I'm drinking as much water as I can to prevent dehydration, but it comes out as fast as I can get it in. My pharmacy seems not to care whether or not I get the SOLCO manufactured medicine. After taking Solco Healthcare Losartan for many years, with no problems, I switched to another less expensive brand, Aurobindo. I soon began to notice my bp reads were significantly higher and, indeed, I too developed a cough. After 2 months of this I switched back to my Solco Losartan and, thankfully, my bp reads have once again stabilized and my coughing has ceased. In all fairness, I cannot say for certain that my cough was caused from the Aurobindo med, I only know the duration of my cough was during this time period. ## I took Aurobindo losartan 50 mg. for three to four weeks and experienced the same symptoms as you, but my cough still persists.
