Hypnotic (also called soporific) drugs are a class of psychoactives whose primary function is to induce sleep[1] and to be used in the treatment of insomnia, and in surgical anesthesia. When used in anesthesia to produce and maintain unconsciousness, "sleep" is metaphorical as there are no regular sleep stages or cyclical natural states; patients rarely recover from anesthesia feeling refreshed and with renewed energy. Because drugs in this class generally produce dose-dependent effects, rang...

Advertised on tv,sleep med starting with L,for long term use I think non narcotic, without side effects of others ## my son has a sleeping problem, he usually sleeps about midnight everyday coz he find it hard to sleep, do i need to take him to a doctor or can i jst buy some sleeping meds for him at the drugstore?OJF ## To the original poster, were you possibly referring to Lunesta? It is used for the short term treatment of insomnia. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, sleep actions, odd taste in mouth, and hallucinations. Liza, it would be best to consult his doctor to discover the root of the problem. How old is he? Is he on any medications? Does he have any diagnosed medical disorders?

Does anyone other than myself have trouble with sleeping too long when taking Buprenorphine? ## Hello, Allan! How are you? Do you mean it makes you more tired/fatigued so you sleep more than usual? If so, that isn't uncommon. Buprenorphine is classified as an opiate, by the FDA, and that is a common side effect of such drugs, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. What dose do you take? It may be slightly too high for you. ## I usually just sleep a full 8 hours.

Need to know what kind of sleeping pill is rounded yellow with brown or black lettering on one side. It is so tiny I cannot read it ## I am sorry, is there a way you can read the lettering with a magnifying glass or by any other means of that sort; so you could post back with the imprint on the tablet itself? U.S. law requires that all prescription drugs have a unique imprint on the tablets or capsules so the medication can be identified by manufacturer, substance and dosage. However, the way a pill looks is entirely up to the whit and whim of the company making it, so there are many, many pills on the market, both over the counter and prescription that meet that physical description. Also, if you have some idea of what the lettering might say I can try doing some searches with what you...

I have taken lisinolpril for over a year and my BP just keeps going up and down. I have learned there are many items we drink and eat that interact with lisinolpril. Like vitamins, sleeping aides like melatonin, potassium (potassium is in a lot of vitamins and other drinks and foods) apple cider vinegar, the list is long, read your labels. I want to ask my Dr to change me to something else, can anyone advise? ## Hello Charlotte! How are you? How extreme are the fluctuations that you've been experiencing? Your blood pressure will never hit one steady reading and stay there, it will always fluctuate, depending on the time of day you check, what you eat, what you drink, your activity levels, and etc. For example, when you are more active, it should naturally increase, when you are idle...

I have been havin trouble sleeping, I tryed taking restyle 0.5mg but it dint work. what will happen if I take 3pills at the same time. Will I have any sideaffects. ## It's difficult to say whether or not you will experience any side effects, because ultimately these drugs effect every person differently; where as some people get results and others it simply doesn't work for. I'd consider talking to your doctor before altering the dosage in any way. At least with your doctor's approval, only he is held accountable if you do end up experiencing some strange side effects. Have you tried anything else to help you sleep at night besides this medication? I've heard that Valerian Root was a good option for this sort of thing, due to its muscle relaxing properties. I hope th...

l am using xolair and getting cramps, sore joints, head aches, but am putting weight on as well as stomach bloating. Also not sleeping well at night. Is this common with Xolair or other asthma medications? ## Hello, Chris! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems that you're experiencing. Everything you've described are listed as being possible side effects of this medication, as reported by the FDA, except the bloating. You may also experience dermatitis, sinusitis and voice changes. Thus, it would be best to consult your doctor to have things checked out to be safe. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I had my first inj. Tuesday. I have had a hard time sleeping as a child. Now that I am 43 it is very bothersome to me. I don't drink or take any drugs besides my thyroid medicine. I have tried Ambiem and lunesta. Neither worked. I am lucky if I get 12 to 14 hours of sleep a week. So now I have been on Restoril 30mg for about a week now and I still can't sleep. I am about to loose it. Why isn't these meds that the doctors say should knock me out, not working. Please I need some advice from people who have severe insomnia? Any advice would be welcome. ## Have you tried any of the natural remedies, such as just taking a Melatonin supplement at night? Learn more Melatonin details here. After having problems with insomnia for years and trying many medications, it's what I've found works best for me. ...

Pagoclone Drug Index

Pagoclone is an anxiolytic agent from the cyclopyrrolone family, related to better-known drugs such as the sleeping medication zopiclone. It was synthesized by a French team working for Rhone-Poulenc & Rorer S.A.[1] Pagoclone belongs to the class of nonbenzodiazepines, which have similar effects to the older benzodiazepine group, but with quite different chemical structures. It was never commercialised. It binds with roughly equivalent high affinity (0.7–9.1 nM) to t...

sleeping medication. used to give in hospitsals in the1980 ## Do you recall if there was any sort of imprint or marking on the pill? I do know that all U.S. prescription drugs are required by law to have a marking of some kind for identification purposes. If this pill has no marking then odds are that it may be an over-the-counter sleep aid or possibly even a foreign medication (made outside of the US). Any other details would be great if you can. Thanks!

Imovane Zopiclone

Zopiclone, sold under the brand name Imovane among others, is a nonbenzodiazepine used to treat difficulty sleeping. Zopiclone is molecularly distinct from benzodiazepine drugs and is classed as a cyclopyrrolone. However, zopiclone increases the normal transmission of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the central nervous system, via modulating GABAA receptors similarly to the way benzodiazepine drugs do. Zopiclone is a sedative. It works by causing a depression or tranqui...

My fiance passed away in a car accident. Now I can't sleep at night. My mom says tripilin nd zopex r the drugs I am gonna have to depend on then for sleeping, but the Dr gave them to me, now I dont know whether I must continue with them. Am I gonna be addicted? Am I not gonna sleep on my own when the tablets r finished? ## Hello, Yandi! How are you? I am very sorry about your loss. How long have you been taking the medications? At this point, I think that rather than worry about getting addicted to them, you need to take them and get rest, so you can deal with your loss and move on with life. ## Hi. Can I buy Zopex over the counter? I can't sleep well.

oblong white pill with lP118 on it.i'm sleeping too much. ## The marking is actually IP118, this is Acetaminophen 750mgs and Hydrocodone 7.5mgs, a generic for Vicodin ES. Drowsiness is a very common side effect of all narcotic drugs, the longer you are on this dosage, the more your body should get used to it and the side effects should taper off. Unfortunately, if you are like me, then they never entirely taper off and you may have to fight drowsiness as long as you have to take narcotics. I have been on Morphine and Oxycodone, without changing the dosage, for several years now and I still have to fight drowsiness everyday. The worse of it will usually hit within a half-hour to 45 minutes of taking the pill. I just have to make myself stay awake, or sleeping is all I would do. So yo...

What causes someone to awake in a frightened and confused state from a nap or from sleeping? ## Hello, Missy! How are you? A nightmare can do that, some medications, stress, alcohol, illegal drugs, illness… there are many reasons that this may happen, according to the NIH. How often has it been happening? Were there nightmares involved? Does the person have sleep apnea? Are they on any medications? Do they drink frequently?
