Hypnotic (also called soporific) drugs are a class of psychoactives whose primary function is to induce sleep[1] and to be used in the treatment of insomnia, and in surgical anesthesia. When used in anesthesia to produce and maintain unconsciousness, "sleep" is metaphorical as there are no regular sleep stages or cyclical natural states; patients rarely recover from anesthesia feeling refreshed and with renewed energy. Because drugs in this class generally produce dose-dependent effects, rang...

What is the active ingredient of this tablet? How many of zolfresh 10mg are considered a normal dose? ## Hi Navi, I'd sure like to hope that you're not "that person" overdosing on Zolfresh. Based on my research, 10 mgs daily of the immediate release formula is the maximum recommended dose of Zolfresh (Zolpidem). There's really no good reason for a person to take anything over that; especially 50x that!! According to a drug monograph on wikipedia, an overdose of Zolpidem may lead to too much sedation as well as impaired respiratory function. Either of these could potentially develop into a coma, & in some cases death. Something very important to remember or even take note of, is that Zolpidem overdosage can be remedied with what's called a benzodiazepine recep...

I am 48 years old... I have a sleeping problem and depression... Doctor told me to take Alprazolam .25mg but I feel like I am not getting a very deep sleep. So if I take two or three .25mg, is it safe for me? Please advise. ## No it is not a sleeping pill and is not safe to take in amounts not prescribed by your doctor. The dose you are taking is relatively small but if you double or triple up, when you run out the rebound anxiety will be that much stronger and can even lead to withdrawal problems ## Asis, NO it is not a sleeping pill. I'd suggest finding a competent prescriber. By multiplying your dose you put yourself in jeopardy for increased insomnia and dependence of this very potent benzodiazepine. Granted your dosage is relatively low but these meds can create rebound anxiety...

is this cerizine ia a sleeping tablet?. FOR WHAT PURPUS IT WILL USE? MINIMUM HOW MG TAKE A NORMAL ASTHMA PATIENT ## No, this is not a sleeping pill. Cetirizine, the active ingredient in Zyrtec, is an antihistamine that is used to treat or prevent allergy symptoms, however, it can cause drowsiness in some people, as a side effect. As to how much of a dosage you should take, you should really consult your doctor, especially if you are on any other medications and have other health conditions. The standard dose is usually 10mgs, once a day. Has your doctor advised you to use this? ## I've taken 20 cetzine tablets each of 10 mg few months back. But due to stress i didnt slept that night and nothing happened so far. Why nothing happened? Will there be any side effects in future? ## Its gud

Is a 15mg dose of anxit tablet dangerous? Anxit is a sleeping pill.. ## Depends on the person and his body functioning system. This med is usually prescribed for anxiety and panic attack relief. And is a temporary med to be taken with other therapy. although deaths are reported at higher doses but in very few individuals it is unlikely, but probable. although taking such a high dose will lead to permanent brain damage... organ failure..hosts of internal organ problems and can definitely lead to coma. if you are troubled in any way and are under severe depression(i have been through it too)..ther are many other ways of handling this. stop dwelling on ur negative thoughts...do minimal exercises at home...expose urself to the outside world little by little...i assure you u will not have su...

It is the sleeping pill most commonly used in hospitals. it comes in doses of 15 and 30 mg. What is its name? It is not Seconal. Ir is a low potency drug, it's more of a hypnotic than a barbiturate. ## I'm sorry, but unfortunately, the color doesn't really help identify it. And, as to what it may be, that can really depend on the area, the preferred drug of choice can vary from area to area and hospital to hospital. For instance, out here in Washington, the hospital in my area uses Ambien, which is available as a 5 and 10mg tablet. Does anyone else have any ideas? ## Likely, you are referring to the Schedule IV benzodiazepine "Restoril" or the generic pill/capsule version. The generic name is temazepam. Interestingly, Restoril (temazepam) is prescribed for insomnia/s...

I found some tablets in the back of my son's sock draw and i really would like to know what it is and the harm it can cause? ## I think its a sleeping tablet, but am not sure. ## If it has PN25 it’s Phenergan/Promethazine, an antihistamine. If plain blue, it could be Valium. ## Patsy is correct, a tablet with the PN 25 marking is a 25mg Phenergan tablet which contains the active ingredient Promethazine, it is most commonly used to treat, or prevent nausea, and vomiting. The NIH lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with? ## What is the typical dose of these blue tablets with pn 25 imprinted on them? Are they available over the counter?

I got banned from the MDC whilst on 45mls. I went to the doctor and she gave me Tramadol, Pregablin and oramoroph. I'm already on zopiclone, Valium and a few other meds. Can anyone please tell me how much Oramorph I should take for withdrawals. Dr said a teaspoon but my tolerance is way too high for that to have any effect. Thanks for any answers ## Sorry I wrote this in the wrong place but yeah zopiclone are probably best for sleeping if you can handle the taste! ## ihave been taking Rystyl 0.25 two tablets at bed time since last 25 years but now iam not getting sleep by above dose. kindly advice a...

Does anyone other than myself have trouble with sleeping too long when taking Buprenorphine? ## Hello, Allan! How are you? Do you mean it makes you more tired/fatigued so you sleep more than usual? If so, that isn't uncommon. Buprenorphine is classified as an opiate, by the FDA, and that is a common side effect of such drugs, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. What dose do you take? It may be slightly too high for you. ## I usually just sleep a full 8 hours.

can I use mirtazapine for sleeping as the needs arises instead of a benzodiazepine. I do not want take mirtazapine every day but may be only once a week if I have a problem to fall asleep. ## I take it as and when needed, take 7.5 or even 3.75. Sometimes I can sleep unaided for 5 nights but then need to take it for a few nights, not too sure if it ok, some pharmacists say due to the small dose it is ok however some feel I should take it for a few weeks regular and then taper off it? I am not on any other mess and it is purely for getting off to sleep. ## Mirtazapine is a tetracyclic antidepressant and may only help with sleep, because it can cause drowsiness, as a side effect. Have either one of you consulted your doctors about using it in the manner you are?

I have a white triangle shaped pill with 50 50 50 on one side and Pliva 441 on the other side. Is it a sleeping pill? ## This is Trazadone 150mgs, it breaks into 3 seperate triangles so you can split the dose if you can't handle all of it at once. It is a generic for the antidepressant Desyrel, and yes, it will knock you out if you have trouble sleeping or have insomnia. ## i am not able to get gud nite sleep so i use 0.5 to 1 mg alphrax daily IS IT HARMFUL OTHERWISE SUGGEST SAFE PILL

I have started Lyrica and I am up to 3 X 75mg capsules a day. There are several complications and they are too lengthy to go into here. But I have found that my sleep episodes during the day and early evening have skyrocketed. I just curious as to what others have experienced taking this dose of Lyrica. ## It has been known to cause drowsiness as a side effect, according to FDA reports, as well as nausea, dizziness, mood swings, and weight changes. But, it shouldn't cause sleep episodes that make you crash out unexpectedly. Are you on any other medications? Were you experiencing sleep episodes, before taking it? ## Yes, but it is a complicated story. I had been on a BI-PAP for about 17 years. The problem it was causing was acid reflux and he kept reducing it to as low as he could go...

I am on 8 mg og Suboxone a day. I take it at 6am. I know it should last atleast 24 hrs, but it seems as if I go to sleep during the day, I wake up sick. Is this possible, that when I'm sleeping my body burns off the suboxone quicker? ## No, that doesn't make any sense. When you are asleep, your metabolism actually slows down, so if anything, it should take longer to process a medication. Have you spoken to your doctor about this problem? It is highly possible that the current 8mg dosage you are on isn't enough for you. Another problem that may cause you to wake up sick, has to do with the same slowing of your metabolism when you sleep. And it has to do with if you are eating or drinking anything, before you lay down. Are you doing this? When you do this, the items you ingest...

I started on 5mgs of Brintellix in February. All my anxiety was gone after the first few days but my depression remained bad. I gradually brought my dose up to 20mg 6 weeks ago and yesterday my depression was almost gone. I also have roller-coaster downs on this tab. Hopefully it's kicked in. The only thing is I can't sleep. I take Zolpidem 10mg at 12am and Urbanol 10mg when I wake up at 3:30am. My sleep is restless as I look after my mom and dad in their 80's. My mom has silent stroke dementia, so my day is very stressful. I'm in a bad mood which is not normal for me but think it's stress from caring for my folks. I keep thinking I should try going off Brintellix and see if I'll do any better... ## Most of the medications in this class can cause that for a few w...
