Silenor Doxepin Hydrochloride

Doxepin is a medication used to treat major depressive disorder, anxiety disorders, chronic hives, and trouble sleeping.[8][9] For hives it is a less preferred alternative to antihistamines.[8] It has a mild to moderate benefit for sleeping problems.[10] It is used as a cream for itchiness due to atopic dermatitis or lichen simplex chronicus.[11] Common side effects include sleepiness, dry mouth, constipation, nau...

I have been taking Silenor for 5 night. My doctor gave it to me as I tapered off of Seroquel. I was on 25 mg of Seroquel for 2 months. I tapered the pill down in quarters until I was off. I was. I was very excited because I was falling asleep on my own again, but had trouble staying asleep (sleep maintenance). So my doctor told me to try Silenor to help me stay asleep. It hasn't been working very well. I do sleep longer, but I still have frequent wake ups. I have also been having headaches, night sweats with my dreams and feeling pretty out of it in the morning. My mood has also been low. Do I need to taper off the 3mg of Silenor after only 5 nights?

Taking silenor for sleeping. Have been taking it for three months.....take half of 3mg most of the time. Seems to give me just enough with the half to help with sleep. Can u take it every three or four days or so instead of every day? It does make me lightheaded, and do feel groggy in morning even with only half of Silenor. Thanks. ## A new Silenor user. My doc prescribed this in the hope that I’ll be able to sleep through the night. He suggested 3 mg first and if not enough, try the 6 mg tablet. So, since I’m a big guy, I reasoned I should go straight to the 6 mg. Well, I slept great but woke up feeling like I was drunk for the first hour. So, I knocked back down to 3 mg for the next two nights, but no full nights sleep. So, I wonder should I stick to the 3 mg and expect th...

Been using silenor, 6 mg at bedtime for 7 nights and noticed daily increase in sinus problems, i.e. congestion, pressure, headache, runny nose, dry eyes. Anyone else notice this??? I had been using doxepin capsules, 25-50 mg for sleep without this kind of response prior to starting the Silenor, 6 mg tabs. ## They are the same medication, Doxepin, so it's doubtful that it's from the medication. Have you consulted your doctor, yet? It could be due to allergies, a sinus infection, or several other things.

Myrbetriq seems to work best for me if I take it about an hour before going to bed. Silenor has now been added to my routine. Silenor should be taken w/in 30 minutes of going to bed. Will these 2 prescriptions interfere w/ each other? Will one reduce the performance of the other? ## Hello, Laurie! How are you? Actually, Myrbetriq can increase the efficacy of the Silenor, so it is the opposite. It isn't usually considered dangerous, as long as your doctor is monitoring you and has carefully evaluated the dosages. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, blurred vision, dry mouth, mood changes, and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

Just took 10 mg doxepin for sleep it's been over an hour and haven't yawned. Have I allowed enough time to go by? I'm thinking I must be immune to it - never had it before but I don't feel a wink of sleepiness. I am thinking of grabbing seroquel but dont want to mix it and have a bad effect. But don't want to stay up all nite either. I'm stuck!!! ## Silenor doesn't put you to sleep. It only helps you stay asleep (sleep maintenance). ## Doxepin is an antidepressant, so while it may cause drowsiness, as a side effect, according to FDA reports, it will not actually knock you out like a sedative or sleeping medication would. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. Are you on any other medications? ## I just took 10mg doxepin for...

Will magnesium/calcium (taken at night) interfere with silenor? I know you are not supposed to eat within 3 hours of taking silenor so I wondered if that would have an effect.
